Securing our equity release took over 6 months mainly due to the solicitors lack of timely communications and continually requesting documentation at random points throughout the process. This could have been a much smoother process if a list of requirements had been provided at the outset for us to compile. Overall a long drawn out and stressful process for all parties involved. I needed to change my equity release provider as the interest was far too high with the original company. My son found a broker, Kevin Woods, who was very helpful and supportive, going the extra mile. He proposed a company with less than half the interest I had been paying and providing me with a little extra as a cushion. Changing over was a little complicated due to my husband's will but with the hard work of the solicitor that Kevin recommended the changeover was brought to a successful conclusion. I can now stay in my home of 42 years for as long as I wish.

We are in our seventies and my brain is definitely not what it used to be. We asked three different companies to discuss Equity Release.
One tried to do it by phone. Two visited us.

I was constantly chasing up for completion.
It actually cost me more money because the original offer ran out and the new offer was at a higher rate.
