I feel compelled to record my utter dismay regarding the disgraceful treatment my husband and I received at this pub nearly an hour ago

Having purchased and paid for a pint, my husband awaited my return from the facilities. Feeling unwell upon rejoining him, I took a small sip of the beverage while taking a moment to rest. Without justification, a member of the bartending staff with a "cap" interceded, patting my shoulder to announce I was "done."

The staff member then summarily seized the paid-for pint directly from my husband's hand, declaring we were permitted to drink no further. When queried, the same bartender with a hat on arrogantly reiterated that the matter was entirely at their discretion-disregarding basic consumer rights and elementary manners.

To suffer such patronising, overbearing condescension and have lawfully purchased property forcibly confiscated without cause is indefensible. The conduct of the staff on duty was arrogant, confrontational, and thoroughly unbefitting of any respectable venue.

We shall never return, and I strongly advise prospective patrons to take their custom elsewhere.

Stayed here for the 3rd time for 3 nights in July 2026, for the Newmarket July festival, and was truly amazed at the value for money of this place.
Not only that the friendliness of the staff and the service they provided, the standard and plentifulness of the food, and the accommodation was very clean, tidy and comfortable. Loved the place and booked up for next year without a thought.

The bartender insulted me while i waiting for a pint I do not condone inconsiderate language and this is awful please sort this out luv

A very nice pub with great food, and very dog-friendly.
We ate with friends and stayed one night and the only minus was that the room was very warm until something like midnight.
Unless you are a BIG eater, the continental breakfast will be all that you need - proper tea, great fruit salad, very nice croissant, proper toast (unless you like the playing-card type).
The friends will be eating there again as they live locally.
