Poor services.
Poor hygiene.
Poor safety.
Equipments needs thorough and deep cleansing.
Attitudes of the staff need to be trained to understand what is customer service.

I have been using the gym group for a couple of years now. I have recently lost my job and financially cannot afford to keep my membership. Let’s face it, I would not be going to the Gym if I could afford a nicer gym. The facilities are basic, and it gets packed, there doesn’t seem to be a limit as to how many people can go in and you can be waiting ages to use the worn equipment. The ladies toilets never seem to have all 3 toilets working.

I cancelled my direct debit. I paid for my final month, but it seems I don’t have access to the gym for the entirety of the month I paid for. I lost access last Wednesday and I have tried to contact The Gym several times, there’s no response, even from complaints. This has happened before earlier this year, when I had difficulty accessing the gym. The gym did not respond for a few days and despite the fact I had paid, I was turned away by a member of staff who told me they could not let me in because they were leaving to go home. This member of staff did not even let me show proof of my payment or the emails I had sent to the gym about the situation.

As I’ve said before, I used The Gym because I can’t afford anywhere nicer. I have had to cancel and restart my membership twice because of money, but to be stonewalled is so rude. You cannot get hold of anyone over the weekend, customer services are appalling, some gym staff are really nice, others not so much. I know Pure Gym have similar prices and hopefully they’ll show me more respect as a paying a customer when I’m back on my feet.

Strood branch… Love this gym, Clean and great equipment, great layout. No need to go up and down stairs to different rooms like some other gyms.
Gym group i promise to give 5 stars if you sort out the showers. They are too hot! Temperature control needed like the ones in Dartford

spoke to Ellen, Lauren and Gareth and they have given me the benefit of their knowledge and experience, in fact on two occasions Gareth has advised me on how to deal with an injury, which I seem to get more and more, perhaps its my age

We recently signed up and are extremely disappointed with the poor hygiene at this gym. It has a stomach-turning smell, similar to a toilet. There is no cleaning equipment—only a spray—but no wipes, which makes it pointless to display sanitizing spray if we have nothing to wipe with. The gym needs better air circulation, as the smell is absolutely disgusting. Very disappointing

Easily accessible in the Town centre.The retail car park affords a spacious and free ,facility (for up to 4 hours,).
- handy if you want to shop.A high degree of cleanliness is maintained.
A wide range of cardio and weight machines are available -all well maintained by knowledgeable and helpful staff.
I go off peak, at a pleasing rate per month, and it is always spacious. Thee is a useful app that logs your attendance and will inform you of nu/mbes in the gym.

Can’t be asked for a better gym, sensible price, cancel any time you want,24 hours access, clean, plenty of different classes and equipment, thanks to Gareth, who is making my experience even better, needless to say I was a customer from the day it was opened, back in 2013 !!!!

Overall is ok. I had few issue though.

First, the lockers. There are many lockers that doesn't really work properly. If you go to the gym on peak time, all the good one has been already taken. Might need few new lockers?

I also have a bad experience with the showers. For some reason the shower was very cold.

The smell on the entrance is note great.

Had an experience with Tall PT with Glasses, (Not just in my experience)...Was quite rude to myself....The way that I was talked to I'd consider going elsewhere if he was the only
staff member at that gym.

I’ve been a member months but the last two times I’ve attended I couldn’t access. It was out of hours and so no one can help so wanted trip and very disappointed

The lack of a seated upright Hamstring Curl Machine, is a significant let down, for this gym, the facilities are otherwise reasonable, but you're limited in the range of things you can do and things you can target when it comes to legs in this respect. Unacceptable for a Gym of this reputation, also unacceptable the distance and membership you have to use and travel just to access one, as part of this Gym Group, seriously considering to another Gym in Me4 region.

In the changing rooms, users can hang their coats up on the movable bench W/ a coat rack (unsure of its correct name), or use the lockers. This bench was once on the gym floor, outside the locker rooms, which is where it should remain, along with the lockers that are also on the gym floor. Backstory over; I hung my (£90.00+) Nike hoody on this rack in the locker room one bank holiday morning. After my workout, I had gone into the locker room, only to find that it had been stolen. I informed the manager, who said he’d check the footage during the time of my stay (not the locker rooms as they aren’t allowed cameras in there), and I heard nothing back for weeks. Conclusion, I spent £90.00+ on another Nike hoody, plus the cost of a lock, The Gym Group lock no less, and I now put my hoody in a locker & lock it during every visit. Moral of the story, if you don’t conform to what society dictates the male & female bodies should be, you get looked down on and shrugged off like you don’t matter. The Gym Group staff need to understand it is a commercial gym, meaning there is a vast diversity amongst its members, and that everyone should be treated with the same respect.

Good but poor at the same time. Gym has great equipment, everything needed, however…. Constantly over crowded. They allow up to 200 people in the gym at once. Constantly full of 16-18 year olds in large groups crowding around the equipment and taking up space and people who think they own the gym because they go every day. Have been going here on and off since early 2022 and have seen a certain characteristic going through the turnstiles 2 at a time. Clearly paying for 1 membership and doubling up, really… it’s £20 a month. I won’t be going back due to this and there really should be a cap on the number of memberships that are offered and the number of people who can enter the gym at once.

On paper, the Strood gym sounds great. It's mostly clean, the locker rooms aren't a complete nightmare, and it's conveniently located.

If you're neurodivergent however, the music is possibly way too loud. So many rude people in the weight lifting area. And every personal trainer I tried was a rage-filled testosterone junkie. The last one told me I "had better watch my manners" on the phone when I tried to stop him talking over me.

Definitely do not feel comfortable going there any longer.

I like my gym in Strood. Plenty of space and is kept really clean.

Gym is always accessible and most importantly clean. Range of equipment is great. I avoid busy times which is made possible by using the app.

Most of all Diana Giurgean has been great in assisting me with a work out routine, super supportive and made working out really fun. She made me feel comfortable and encourages me through whatsapp and i use the Quickcoach app which I also love!!!

Superb gym at every level. Facilities, equipment, staff and members make for a great experience.
