Bad for self-esteem and socialization
My child’s experience was absolutely awful. We did the free trial session and my son was depressed afterwards. They focused on a lot of negative things and had the kids share negatives and fears about themselves with a group of peers they had never met before. That doesn’t seem like a healthy practice to me and my son felt like garbage about himself after the session.
They did an activity where they write down their doubts about themselves on paper and then crinkle it up and throw it across the room, which works for highly emotional types but since my son is mostly a logical type thinker it didn’t do him any good, he just felt he was throwing paper, not “throwing away bad feelings.” It would have been nice for them to get to know his emotional processing style before choosing activities.
My son got just a few words in the whole session. We tried Tapouts for better social interaction training and we left the free trial with new issues instead of any resolution. If I knew what to expect from it, I never would have.

In my opinion individuals do better with licensed therapists. Therapists/social workers have extensive training and state licensing and regulations. My teen went here and did not learn tools needed for emotional regulation. She is now in therapy and we are seeing amazing results managing her feelings.

Finally someone our 10 year old wants to do
Our 10 year old has ADHD and dyslexia which means we have lots of big feelings over small problems and anxiety about school work. Tapouts has helped our family implement their strategies to understand big feelings, and we are working towards being able to calm down before things escalate to a meltdown. We have tried OT, behavioral therapy, play therapy, tutoring, and family therapy and he hasn't ever participated willingly. He wants to do his TapOuts sessions genuinely enjoys it.
Good concept, misleading recaps
I think this is a great concept. We've only done two sessions so far, and will continue at least a month because we paid for it. My daughter likes the idea of earning prizes and the lessons they say they will teach are solid. However, each week they send recaps of what happens in the lesson and at least in our experience, they don't really match what the session is about. For example, the recap I just got said, "The pod members specifically played a game that highlighted their commonalities and unique differences from their peers. It’s amazing to see how a group of youth from all over can find ways to instantly relate to each other on some level, and we want them to realize that they’re not alone in their experiences."
I sit in on the lesson with my child because she's too scared to be alone, and this is not what happened at all. There was no game, no opportunity for them "highlight commonalities and uniqueness." The coach basically asked them how their week was and what they were excited for in the weekend. This took half the session....which is fine, but don't call it a game. Also, in the recap the week before, they gave my daughter an assignment and that assignment was not talked about at all during the session...she came prepared and everything! We'll see how the next few sessions unfold and if their summaries are more true to what they talk about.
We LOVE TapOuts
We LOVE TapOuts! We've been doing it for almost two years now. My son loves getting to share his experiences with others and the coaches have been so great, very compassionate and patient with the kids. I love the wide variety of techniques and topics that are discussed. And we really have loved the addition of the Sunday Huddles where the kids can all gather to chat and learn about a topic or do some funky fitness together. I think for the investment, TapOuts is one of the best things I've found to help my child thrive.
We love Tapouts!
My son really looks forward to his Tapouts session every week. I think it's very comforting to him to know that other kids go through emotions, stressors, and life's challenges too! He isn't acting like he feels isolated and alone anymore. He has his spring back in his step. We love Tapouts!
My daughter was really hesitant to…
My daughter was really hesitant to starting Tapouts but she really engaged by Coach Autumn and she knew she had an important place in her group. She really felt understood and affirmed that she was definitely not the only kid who struggled with navigating big feelings. It’s not that we don’t struggle at all anymore but the recovery time is so much shorter and she can lead the process herself. The summaries of the sessions also give us the language to help her practice these skills.
Tapouts provides a safe space to conquer anxiety
We are on month four of Tapouts. My 11 year old daughter has severe anxiety and although she does individual counciling with a therapist Tapouts has offered her another forum to help with her emotions and anxiety. She really loves the group setting with other kids who share similar experiences and stories. And beyond that her coach, Lasette is amazing. We had to switch to a new group for a few weeks due to scheduling issues and could not wait to get back to her original coach and group.
She retains the information and is excited after each meeting to share with me the skills she’s learned. Thank you Tapouts for creating this safe space for her to learn and figure out all these emotions.
Coach Jordan is excellence as well as the program overall!
My daughter has been in tap outs program for over a year. She has only missed one week (vacation) and was sad about it. Coach Jordan is amazing. She has other coaches that were great but I do listen in time to time and notice his exceptional attention to detail and recalling specifics about each child. Excellent program. Highly recommend.
We love Tapouts
My child has been in the program for two years and we love our coach. My child has been given social emotional skills that she was not willing to learn from me. The program I liked the most was coach choice at the end of the session.
Will stuck it out longer to see more results.
It’s only been three weeks for us and I’ve noticed a difference. At first I was thinking, we’re tired and hot and that’s why she’s not fighting back to things as much. But her personality is also shifting and she’s taking disappointment with more calmness.
We LOVE Tapouts
My 9 year old has major anxiety due to a physical disease. She was having a hard time controlling her anger and getting rid of her negative thoughts. Tapouts has been a godsend. She now swats her ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts) away and smiles. Thank you, Tapouts!
Love our coach
Love our coach! He has such a calming effect on my daughter and the class from what I’ve observed. He’s exactly what I expected. Thank you!

I'm only giving 4 for now since were so new. Ill return and review again as an update. Loving this experience though; you can tell the kids don't feel as alone, hearing others going through the same situations. It is heartbreaking as a parent and child care provider, but I truly wish the best for all of these sweet hearts. My son cringes having to login but when he's there he interacts and seems like he's retaining the confidence that is built during the session. Thanks to our leader, she is so upbeat and active. It is helpful when the person you're talking to believes in you too. We won't stop sessions for a while, highly recommended especially if you don't have time to go see someone in person between a busy home/work/school schedule.
My son was struggling....
My son was struggling with traditional counseling so I was looking for something different, something that worked. I found tapouts on Facebook and decided to give it a try. My son looks forward to his weekly session and uses what he learns week after week! We love the way tapouts is working. From a high/low check in at the start of the session and games they play to reinforce what's been learned in the video lesson my son is engaged and participates. He's even told me several times how he's using the skills he's been learning to handle stressful situations and the daily frustrations of life. The point system in place helps encourage partipation. After 4 months we have seen marked improvement in attitude and behaviors while our 10 year old has saved enough points to trade in for a $20 Amazon gift card and a large mystery box full of games, puzzles, slime and small but cool trinkets that he really looked forward to getting!
I've experienced very positive changes…
I've experienced very positive changes in my child — Tapouts has been truly transformative. It breaks down useful educational content into child-friendly, bite-sized pieces and teaches in a fun and engaging way. I've seen obvious changes in my child: they’re less likely to throw tantrums, and they seem happier and more confident when dealing with conflicts. Our parenting experience has become more joyful and peaceful. I would highly recommend it to anyone with young children.
Tap into tapouts!
If you are sitting on the fence, or not sure if the program is worth the cost, do yourself and your child a favor and give it a go. My 8-year-old daughter has anxiety/ADHD. Tonight, she completed 3 months of tapouts and I cannot imagine us going back to life without the program and strategies, coach and her pod/support group. Thank goodness it continues next week with new topics. Love the new Sunday Huddle too. As a parent and special education teacher, I love the curriculum. My daughter also loves the tapouts points (TXPs) and has been saving up for her first reward. I have recommended tapouts to friends and colleagues, including the school counsellors.
Update 6/27/25
It's been another three months of tapouts, and my daughter continues
to learn from her coach and pod each week. She recently exchanged her TXP for another amazing mystery box.
My 7 year old ADHD son is now asking if he too can join tapouts!
Love how kid friendly this experience…
Love how kid friendly this experience is. Love that the leader is named a coach. It’s a great first step if you are wanting to normalize seeking help and eventually going to formal therapy.
