⭐ Very disappointing service from Volvo Bolton

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from Volvo Bolton when I took my vehicle in for a battery replacement as part of a recall on 13 October 2026.

When I booked the appointment, I was told the work would be completed within one day. However, at around 4:30 pm, I had to contact the dealership myself for an update, only to be told that my car would not be ready until the following day.

I was then informed that the battery charge was too high and should have been below 30% before the appointment. Nobody had told me this when the booking was made, and nobody contacted me to explain the problem or advise me that the car would be delayed.

What made matters considerably worse was being told that an engineer had driven my vehicle to reduce the battery percentage. I was not contacted to request my permission before this was done. My car was driven for 80 miles, which is completely unacceptable to me given that I had not authorised this journey.

This is particularly concerning because my vehicle is a lease car and I am already over my contracted mileage allowance. Those additional miles could have financial consequences for me when the vehicle is returned. I should not have to worry about potential extra costs resulting from a decision made by the dealership without my permission.

When I challenged the lack of communication about the battery requirement, I was told that the person who booked the appointment was very good at their job and had worked there for a long time. Rather than addressing my concerns, this response left me feeling as though I was being made out to be dishonest about what I had been told.

I subsequently emailed the store manager to raise my concerns, but I received no response. This has only added to my frustration and disappointment.

I understand that problems can arise during vehicle repairs, but I expect clear communication, professional treatment and respect for my vehicle. Being left to chase updates, discovering important requirements that were never explained, finding out my car had been driven 80 miles without my prior permission, and then receiving no response from the store manager is simply not the standard of service I expected from Volvo.

I would expect a dealership representing a premium brand to take these concerns seriously, investigate what happened and provide an explanation. Unfortunately, my experience has left me extremely dissatisfied with Volvo Bolton and the way this matter has been handled.

I can only recommend them as the best Volvo garage in greater Manchester. I've moved over to them to take care of my Polestar and I can't recommend them enough. Their staff are great and always keep you informed.

This was just a lovely experience from start to finish. I waited while my service took place. The staff were lovely, gave me a quiet space to work, offered coffee and were very welcoming - especially the lady on the front desk. The service was prompt and this was not a stressful experience at all.

Took my XC40 here for a service after a shocking experience at another franchise. Very professional, friendly and no nonsense!

Craig looked after the service of my Polestar 2. Kept me informed all the way of the progress and even sorted a new part for my seat, which had been an issue. Great customer service and easy process!

No pressure at all, we felt very comfortable making our choice. Plus any follow up questions were answered very promptly . Car was delivered to timescales , great experience all round.

Arrived to be told we had not been booked in despite booking. A Volvo recall and told we could not have a car whilst it was checked. Second bad experience after being quoted a price for a service to be told it would be double the price the day before. Supposedly a top brand and service sadly lacking.

Probably the best car buying experience I have . Luke and Mel both very helpful in the purchase of my Volvo . Everything was as arranged and the process was just extremely easy to follow as every thing was explained . No pressure from the sale team at all . I was very happy with the attention to detail throughout .

Our ex30 was in for a, very annoying, battery recall. Volvo Bolton ensured that the process was painless, putting themselves out to pick up our car, ring us with updates and deliver it back, fixed and cleaned. Everyone involved in the process was a delight. From the lady on the switchboard, to John, who transported our vehicle and the people in the workshop, they were all friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We’ll be going there first, when we need our next car.

The experience was great because all the team are helpful and ask if they can help in any way and with all aspects of the experience. The service was great, showroom is a good space and the staff are positive, knowledgeable and reliable in the way they respond to questions. The Volvo product is a good quality one with many features and all questions regarding the product were answered in a clear manner.
