I bought a succulent cube as a gift…

I bought a succulent cube as a gift which arrived in good time and was very much appreciated by the recipient. This was during the bad weather that affected Cornwall so I was amazed that it was all received in perfect condition.

I really like the selection at Surreal…

I really like the selection at Surreal succulents and have had the cuttings turn up very well wrapped and packaged for transport.
I have had 5 succulents in total over the last few months so very early days to see if the cuttings take.
Excellent information online, soil suggestions aswell as pots and experience level of the plants.
I will be going back again to purchase more for myself and for others as gifts.

Shopping for plants here was a…

Shopping for plants here was a fantastic experience. Placing an order was straightforward, and my plants were delivered promptly. They arrived securely packaged and in excellent shape. When I had a query about their growing conditions, I emailed Surreal Succulents, and they responded within thirty minutes with all the details I needed. I am eager to purchase from them again and would happily recommend them to everyone.

Excellent fleece

Seeing the review of your fleece I am writing to say I have bought fleece over several years and find it excellent.
I live in the Midlands where temperatures go down to minus figures often. I never heat my greenhouse but cover my plants with two layers of fleece and in two years of experimenting I have never lost a plant.

What a great plant shopping experience

What a great plant shopping experience. The order was easy to place, and it wasn't long before my plants arrived. They were carefully packaged, and were in great condition. I had a question about growing conditions and dropped Surreal Succulents an email and they replied within half an hour giving all the information I needed. I will be very happy to buy from them again or recommend them to all.

Fleece and advice

The fleece isn't at all as described in the winter care guide, ignore - 10C completely, basically protect your plants based on hardiness as per any other plant, don't think that it'll perform better than any other woven fleece. Definitely killed 12 plants following their guidelines over three nights of barely minus temps. Even in a glasshouse, one needs a heater for tender plants, the fleece is NO different.

We are very sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate the opportunity to clarify and respond fully.

Horticultural fleece must be used exactly as described in our guides to be effective. Any gaps in the fleece allow cold air to enter, which can lead to plant damage or loss. Unlike clothing fleece, horticultural fleece is designed to be lightweight enough to allow light through and avoid crushing plants, while still offering insulation. Our fleece is significantly thicker than most on the market at 60gsm, compared to the typical 15gsm used by many other brands, offering a much higher level of protection when used correctly.

You contacted us by email several months ago and shared an image of your winter setup. At the time, I incorrectly approved this setup as ‘winter-proof’. After revisiting the image following your review, I noticed there was an approximately 6-inch gap between the fleece and the floor. This gap would have allowed cold air to enter and is most likely why the fleece did not perform as intended. This was an oversight on my part.

Due to this mistake, we have taken full accountability and have already contacted you by email to provide a voucher so you can replace your plants free of charge.

We stand by the quality and effectiveness of our fleece, as it has successfully protected our own plants through winter conditions. We always recommend overwintering succulents in a greenhouse or sheltered area where possible. However, for those without such space, this fleece is designed to significantly reduce winter damage and help keep plants alive until spring. While it cannot guarantee plants will remain completely damage-free, correct use will greatly improve their chances of survival.
