I read several reviews that were negative, but I decided to gamble on a pair of shoes. I placed the order on a Monday and promptly received a confirmation email. The next day I received the shipping confirmation with the tracking number. The shoes were delivered on Friday. They were the correct pair, size, and color.

My experience was very positive.

Extremely bad service and false information.
I placed an order and was offered 15% discount and free two day shipping due to a previous problem ordering a product. I did not get the discount and the 2 day shipping did not happen. When product arrived it was delivered to the local university bookstore NOT my address. I spend hours with company and Fed X tracking it down and then it was re-delivered to the wrong house. I returned the product and was told refund would be 2-3 days, the customer service person said he was expediting it. 18 days later and many calls still no refund even though I received an email that return was complete on October 6th (now the 19th.) Again today I am told it will be 2-5 days for refund. This company is woefully bad at their fulfillment and customer service. Their customer service people appear scripted and tell you whatever they want to get you off the phone. Try to reach someone above them, you will win the lottery before that gets accomplished.

Ordered a pair of ski pants which were never shipped. 10 days later receive a message that my “return” was complete and get a PayPal refund of the purchase price. Which would be fine if they had also refunded to $75 USD international shipping cost for an item they never sent. So it seems like a pretty blatant scam.

I have ordered from both Back Country (a related company) a few times and now once from Steep and Cheap. I have never had any problem. I was a bit uncertain whether to order from Steep and Cheap after reading reviews here, but due to my experience with Back Country (including returns and replacement product due to clothing sizing) I decided to take a chance. My order from Steep and Cheap, arrived quickly, was packed well, and came in perfect condition. FYI, I ordered a arm-less folding chair that I could take to the beach and use for playing guitar.

Buyer Beware of Steep&Cheap! Not worth the time and energy hassle of dealing with being scammed by their bait and switch price tactics - listed price versus invoiced price.
Now, have to deal with with these people, if they ever reply to my complaint filing (via their online messaging), and my payment process center.
Not worth the time and energy! BEWARE!!!

Update. I called customer service and they resolved my return issue. I paid $92 for item and only refunded $78. There is no email or transparency why the refund was so low. Their return policy says you must only pay for shipping back. Customer service fixed the issue and refunded what was due. I appreciate their fast speed at shipping and resolving issues. I have used S&C for 31 orders and never really had a problem except getting skimmed on returns.

I still would recommend REI for returns over steepandcheap, sounds like other people got skimmed on returns as well. I definitely will only use steepandcheap if I am sure I will not return the item. But they do have better deals than REI except when REI has their 20% off in outlet items.

This place had great prices and they were easy to contact and get a refund after I changed my mind about buying a pair of bindings.
I believe I called them around 8:30pm. I was able to talk with a person who was very willing to help me.

I eventually went back and bought the bindings anyway because they were a great deal. This did require me to buy a compatible splitboard. Now I have 2 splitboards! This is going to be an epic winter!

No wait time with customer service - answered phone on weekend and delivered product five days earlier than scheduled. Product well wrapped and shipped in sturdy box. Customer service very attentive with shipping questions. Price was 15% cheaper than competitors.

Despite reading poor reviews, I did not have an issue with S & C the first time I ordered. However, this time I did not receive my full order. Customer service was entirely unapologetic. Don't waste your time this website is a joke.

Just ordered a Moose Knuckle Coat on clearance at a great price and I told myself that I’d write a review for Steep and Cheap if it went well considering all the terrible reviews. Check the prices against Backcountry.com, since they’re sister companies, but Steep and cheap was still more affordable even though shipping wasn’t free. Hence the four stars, bc there were no promo codes or anything.

My coat shipped within two days and was in perfect condition. It was a great price on a quality coat. I paid for standard shipping instead of economy and it was shipped with Lasership. I also didn’t have any issues with shipping or arrival, but be aware that S&C’s policy is that it’s out of their hands once its been shipped. Still, my coat arrived in a timely manner, in perfect condition and at a great price. I would purchase again but probably just settle for economy shipping (UPS to USPS).

I bought an expensive jacket that arrived with a defective zipper. The vendor is charging me return shipping for their garbage.

Sent a used jacket smelling of perfume of a different style and size. A new tag was attached to the zipper. Fraudulent.

No complaints and would use again.
Ordered a Kuhl parka and received quickly. Just as ordered.

Steep and Cheap sent me the WRONG SIZE swimsuit and now I have to waste my time printing out their "free" return label and bother finding a UPS store to drop it off to.

I told them that I needed it for the weekend and there was nothing they could do on their end other than waste my time. They kept trying to say they'd send out a "free replacement" but what's free when you have to spend your time shipping back their crap to them and NOT getting what you need WHEN you needed it?

Scored an excellent deal on some accessories and customer service was fabulous. Order came in two shipments and there were no paper receipts in the boxes, which was a little confusing at first, but it's just so on-brand for an outdoor sporting goods supplier to do their part in helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

My understanding is they are owned by a very litigious parent company who also owns backcountry .com. They crush little businesses who might one day compete with them, and I find that repulsive.

Get your gear from a more Precipitous and Pragmatic purveyor of property.

I gave it a try and was extremely disappointed by the quality. To my surprise they refunded much less (U$43.35 from a U$ 60.38 purchase).Don´t waste your time with this guys (like I did) and go shop somewhere else.

I ordered an shirt and received the wrong size. However, steepandcheap quickly sent a replacement without charge. Customer service was very helpful. Prices are very competitive. Frequent coupons are available.

Awesome, great prices, fast shipping. Thought about returning 1 pair of shoes, all the labels were in the box would have been easy, but decided to keep. So happy

I ordered two pairs of shoe, they were too small really a good high-end buy. I had to return them, the person I spoke with really late on Sun. night knew his business, friendly, alert, polite, assist me asap. Looking over the site they have very good deals, and the postage is reasonable. Thanks
