Lodge was lovely and clean, well equipped for cooking and a nice touch of a bottle of prosecco and sweets left for us.

Only complaint was we were told there was going to be towels provided and there wasn't (had to run to Argos) and the central heating didn't work so the heating was from the fire place fan.

Hot tub was fab and clean, would definitely recommend to others or return myself now I know to bring my own towels and be prepared for colder nights.

Lodge was lovely had everything we needed for a short stay and was also clean. The filter in the hot tub wasn't changed during our 3 night stay so the last night the water smelled funny and we could not use it. We found the amenities around the lodge lacking. The pub was meant to be open but didn't until our last night and didn't serve food until the weekend. This was not stated on the website. A takeaway menu was in the lodge but it wasn't made clear it was collection only. Places for food were too far away (around 25 mins) so if you go unprepared you will have to travel out of your way. Nice break but wouldn't return.

Cancelled my booking 3 weeks before check in. Took them 5+ emails to respond to me when requesting my money back as it was payed in full. Had £80 hold on my account the day before I was originally checking in even though they had cancelled my booking. Then had the accommodation message me the say of asking when i was checking in! This was booked for a birthday and handled very poorly. The time and stress of finding somewhere else short notice without my money back from the original booking to then find out on the day it was infact still available!

We arrived for our stay on the 25th April it was overall clean inside, the only downside was the beds as they was uncomfortable and the hot tub wasn’t heating up for us on our second night and it was quite late at night, we did mention when we checked out it and was told that we should have came to reception that night and rung a number on the door as we just knew it was closed after a certain time so why would we walk up late at night to reception that’s closed to ring a number we wasn’t aware of. probably would have been useful to know when we arrived as all we knew was that the reception area closed at a certain time and there is an emergency number on a leaflet we got to ring. We didn’t count our hot tub not working as an emergency lol, we didn’t get a “sorry about that” which wouid have been appreciated and a “how was your stay” but none of that.
The pubs outdoor area was not set out like it was on pictures. There is also no services at all so bare that in mind when booking id say.
Overall it was a decent stay but Unfortunately we won’t be back to this site as I didn’t feel like I got my moneys worth and just overall wasn’t worth it.

Be wary of booking with company I paid a deposit for some accommodation and had an email to pay the balance. The payment link didn't work and I have been trying for 3 days to get hold of someone on the phone and sent emails too but nothing. I am speaking to my bank to get my deposit back and having to find another break at short notice. Very disappointed

Our recent stay at Blackbull Barnston was a great location for Bridlington Scarborough and Flamborough. Number 20 lodge was lovely, clean and the hot tub all ready for our arrival. Towels provided tea and coffee for arrival.
The pub on sight has a great beer garden and the food is amazing! Good value for money at the pub and the lodge.
We took our two dogs with us and the lodge had an area with a secure fence and gate.

It was just lovely. Peaceful and the lodge was very homely x

We arrived at 4pm for check in and was told our lodge wasn’t ready and it should be ready in 15 minutes. We waited and it still wasn’t ready. It was finally ready at 5pm. The TVs didn’t work. The kick board was out in the kitchen, bedside light bulbs were missing. The extractor fan in the bathroom was noisy and kept us awake. We were packing up to come home after one night and we saw a mouse. There was rain over night and a large puddle formed at the bottom of the ramp from the lodge, which looked like it was bubbling from the drain, the water was murky and smelt awful.

Just back from a really disappointing stay in lodge 19, booked through Staycation. Just as we were leaving I got a message from the host to say the WiFi was unavailable, which was an immediate let down. We had seen on reviews that the WiFi was really good, and as I knew there wasn’t much to do on the site itself, we had planned cosy nights in with a Netflix list. Also with young child, I knew her not having access to her iPad for downtown would be problematic. I hoped our mobile phone signals would suffice, but soon established no network unless we sat by the door of the lodge. The message from the host also stated the heating was on, but on arrival it wasn’t, and with the temps outside being below zero, it took hours to warm up. The radiator in the living area also didn’t get fully warm at the bottom.
As soon as we entered the lodge, we were hit by this absolutely foul smell. I thought it maybe the drains or the toilets, all of which seemed ok, but the smell was the strongest in the kitchen and living area but ran throughout. The rooms were of a good size, and the bedding, towels etc were all fresh.
The photos of the lodge displayed an open log burner (I knew it would be electric), but this wasn’t there, and also wasnt provided even though we were told it would be once i raised the fact. It was also advertised as having a covered hot tub outside, but it wasn’t. There was an issue with the tub on the second day, so was unusable all day due to the temperature. The site maintenance came straight out to have a look and reset it, but still meant we went a full day without being able to use it.
I messaged the host, and livlodges who we booked with, who said all issues had to be sent to their customer service team, so I forwarded on. We were told the smell would be looked at, and on the second day an on call guy from the Barmston site came over, and said the smell certainly wasn’t usual and again said it would be looked into. I fell ill with sickness and diarrhoea, which I can’t say was to do with the lodge, but now that I’m home and unpacked, I can smell that foul odor on all our belongings.

No fire was brought to our lodge. The radiator wasn’t sorted, and we had to live with that horrendous smell for 3 days. The maintenance guy thought it might be a dead animal and said he would investigate, but nothing was done.

Updated review: it’s been over a week since they cancelled my stay and they still haven’t replied to my emails. When I call them they say they will contact customer service to ask them to email me. When I asked for their number I was told they don’t have a phone and the number on the site is only for reservations. But on their site it states that’s the number to call for complaints. Absolutely awful company!!!

Our trip was cancelled last minute due to a gas related issue. I was offered a credit note for double how much my stay was and a chance to rebook however due to it being so last minute I requested to have a refund due to needing the money to potentially book something else. My emails have been ignored. I called up and I was told they would email, no replies all day. When I called again in the afternoon I was on to automated message to say there were now agents available, this was at 2.30pm when they are supposed to be open until 5pm. I tried again at 3.30pm and again at 4.30pm to the same message. This was all on the Friday before the trip which was supposed to be on the Sunday. Meaning I won’t potentially get any replies until Monday to which it’s now too late to organise an alternative trip meaning I have a very disappointed child. Terrible customer service in my opinion and I will be fighting to get my money refunded.

I booked this through a rep on Facebook in November. I paid the deposit through an invoice sent to me and was told I'd need to pay the remainder by 17th Jan... I forgot about that date but enquired today as I'd heard nothing and no request for remainder of the booking. The rep checked and the booking has been cancelled!!! I phoned the company, she said she would pass me to her colleague and promptly hung up.
I called through again and they promised a call back before 5pm. I rang again at 4.55pm to find they had turned their phone off for the weekend. I doubt they'll even resolve this, so I'm leaving feedback now. They had their chance this afternoon.
I've been waiting for this break since the beginning of November. I've had a very tough year and it's the only thing that has been keeping me going. I will be claiming a chargeback on my credit card for the deposit as they are at fault. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL ONLY DISAPPOINT YOU.

I will remove this feedback if a satisfactory resolution is had.

We booked a New Year break in Scarborough but they asked us to change to Black Bull in Barmston as the lodge had been sold. We were told the lodge was like for like, it most definitely wasn't.
It was smaller, alot smaller.
It was dirty.
It had mould in the shower.
The radiators were rusty and filthy.
Hot tub jets didn't work properly, only a handful worked.
The decking had lots of holes and was very slippery.
No instructions on how to use digital cooker, washer or dishwasher.
Woke up on New years day to a river in main bedroom and twin bedroom, we had rain during the night so the lodge leaked. I pulled the double bed out to check behind and the sheet came of the bed revealing a very mouldy mattress topper which was covering the most disgusting stained mouldy mattress 🤮
We rang and complained, a guy came but didn't have a clue about the water just told us to mop it up with the towels in the lodge. He said he would bring us fresh towels. It was then we then decided to leave.
It's taken over 20 days to be refunded some money and they only gave us the 1 night we didn't stay. I wish I could upload photos so you could see for yourselves. I'm putting a review on Trip advisor with the photos.

This Christmas, we decided to do something different and stay away for the first time—and it was a lovely experience overall!

The lodges were spacious and well-suited for our family and three dogs. The enclosed decking area was a fantastic feature, giving our dogs a safe space to roam freely while we relaxed. The hot tub was a definite highlight—it stayed hot throughout the week, even with frequent use by two adults and two teens. That said, it was slightly tilted, leading to a bit of water loss over time, but it didn’t impact our enjoyment.

The kitchen was well-equipped and had everything we needed to prepare a full Christmas dinner. While the cooker was a little tricky to figure out at first (it would sometimes turn off when the door was opened), we soon got the hang of it.

The on-site pub had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with helpful staff and great amenities like a free pool table, darts, and a jukebox. However, the pub’s opening times were a bit inconsistent, which was a little disappointing. We didn’t try the dining area but appreciated the option to order food to the lodge if needed.

One downside was the lack of internet, which was frustrating. The lodges had smart TVs, but we had to hotspot them to stream Netflix and do the same for our teenagers’ devices. When we spoke to staff, they mentioned the server was down, but unfortunately, it stayed down for the entirety of our stay.

The location was a major bonus. A short walk or drive took us to a nearby beach where you can walk for miles—absolutely stunning. Due to a collapsed footpath, the beach was only accessible through another campsite, but this wasn’t too much of an inconvenience. We also enjoyed exploring nearby spots like Bridlington, Filey, North Landing (with its charming caves), and Fraisthorpe, all within a short drive.

Overall, we had a fantastic time. While the internet issues and a couple of minor quirks could be improved, the peaceful setting, dog-friendly facilities, and stunning surroundings made this a memorable Christmas getaway. We’d definitely consider returning!

My stepson got food poisoning from the pub food really bad also outside wasn’t layed out as shown so won’t be going back also been sick all night having to come home early as that bad

All staff was amazing and very helpful would definitely go again
