advertises used cars on their website they do NOT have in stock. Booked a test drive twice only for the cars not to be there or ready. Desperate for sales on cars they don't have. Pathetic and only reinforces the stigma a used car sales person has.

Took my car into the Stevenage service branch because of water entering the car. Left my car for a full day to diagnose and quote costs to fix the problem and quote any repair work. After weighing up whether it was worth getting the work done, I have since had 3 calls to quote for additional works and labour required - costs which had they been quoted initially would have completely altered my decision on getting the work done - all related to what I took the car in for! Then it takes two days to contact me on next steps after I have called several times! Shocking service - would not recommend.

Great cars, good prices but terrible customer services. Had to chase for more information when buying the car and once purchased, still waiting on a reply from the sales person regarding some questions about the car. Three weeks later still no reply, doesn’t give me any faith in buying another one or getting the car serviced by them. Sick of chasing now, great car though

A couple of weeks back I needed a new front tyre, called specialist cars, explained the issue, gave make model, size, rim, etc etc, in short I needed a Bridgestone Turanza run flat. Yes I was told, you are booked in for sat morning, excellent. Drive up I book the car in, and 1 hour and 45 min later I get the car back. Thinking, they have tyre techs, everything is fine. Erm no. Driving home, the car was tram-lining to the right like a pig.. I thought what’s going on.. get home and they fitted a Bridgestone Potenza 001. Correct me if wrong but tyres for best handling need to be the same per axel. I call specialist cars Stevenage, and ask, excuse me I was just at your shop to get a front tyre changed, would you be able to tell me what tyre you fitted to my car? Instead of answering my question, I get what tyre did you want? My answer well I wanted a turanza same as the other side, what did you fit on to it? Silence… eventually they admit the fitted the wrong tyre. So much for having a tyre tech who does the fitting and for whom we pay a premium!

Anyhow they offered to get the tyre changed, but I refused to let these incompetent individuals anywhere near my car. Headed to Kwik fit, by stroke of luck they had the tyre in stock in Enfield, drove down on Sunday got that awful tyre fitted by specialist cars Stevenage taken off and had the correct one fitted, at the cost of £175, as supposed to the £248 I paid specialist cars to fit the wrong tyre.

Conclusion, shabby poor, terrible.

Unfortunately we are not able to reset any service lights without checking that the work carried out by another retailer meets BMW standards, this would require us to carry out a diagnostics check.

Due to BMW procedures, we are responsible to ensure the safety of the vehicle before resetting any error messages.

What an absolute load of twaddle! At no point did I ask Specialist Cars to guarantee someone else’s work, I was told that the car needed a software update which I was daft enough to think, having recently paid in the region of £500 for a service, more than double charged by reputable service providers, would come under my warranty but guess what? NO, Specialist Cars advised, when I took my car in, this would cost £99! I didn’t even want the error messages cleared, I can live with them. YOU JUST WANT TO RIP CUSTOMERS OFF. I’m planning to change my vehicle shortly and purchase a 1 Series for my wife, needless to say it will not be from Specialist Cars, will return to the London based dealer I used before. Be careful when choosing who to buy your next BMW from, wish I had read the reviews for this franchise before selecting them.

Just picked up my new car from Stevenage mini... faultless experience from start to finish. I've been kept up to date with the delivery time, supported with getting my charger fitted and talked through every aspect of the car at pick up. Laura dealt with me throughout the buying process and was patient and helpful with every question that I had. I would 100% recommend them!

Shame I can’t give them a zero. I’m a BMW owner and no longer take my car to the Specialist Cars service centre in Stevenage, my car needed new tyres and it took 5 visits to get this right. They also needed my car for a whole day to change a light bulb! They spend too much time making videos of my car in the service bay so they can’t do any work! I thought the sales department in Stevenage was better so went there to buy a new BMW! The sales man kept me waiting for 30 mins for a pre-booked appointment. He did not have the car I requested for a test drive and gave me a 3 year old car to drive. Nevertheless after about 4 hours, I finally signed a contract and paid a deposit for a new car on 30th May 2021 and was told it would arrive in September. I asked for it to be available in early September as I would have 6 months MOT on my old car I need to sell it. I was sent a video of the sales man afterwards. I heard nothing about my car and phoned periodically but my calls were not returned. In late August I finally spoke to the sales manager who then discussed the possibility of part exchanging my old car to get around the MOT issue but would not tell me when my new car is expected to arrive and said I should call back in early September. Once again I called and my calls were not returned. I finally managed to speak to the sales man today and had to ask 4 times before he finally told me my car would not be arriving until late November. I asked how much they would match the quote I have from a buyer for my old car as part exchange. I also asked if it would be possible to cancel my order for the new car due to poor service. About 10 mins later I received a phone call from a different and a very aggressive sales person demanding my debit card number to give me a refund of my deposit. I was delighted, but how rude! Now I have to start the purchase process again but certainly will not be buying another BMW.

Bought a pre registered x3 from them with 18 miles on the clock...so a new car. Good sales service and great price, so far so good. I live over 100 miles away so they delivered it and I dropped the driver off at the station 7 miles away. After a few more miles the iDrive restarted and continued to do so at irregular intervals every time I used it. It had to go into my local dealer to be fixed and was with them for 2 weeks as it needed a new head unit. During this time I had so much hassle getting a hire car and Specialist Cars had very little interest in the saga, despite me emailing and calling the salesman repeatedly. To be fair they offered a vehicle if I could collect it but with the distance this was not possible, and despite asking for a manager to call me to sort a hire car on a number of occasions, he didn't call until after BMW UK eventually got me a car. They always say you only find out how good a company are when something goes wrong. I wasn't impressed after paying over £40k for a new car.

Rang up to buy a used countryman price was good so paid the deposit a few hours later got a call back to explain it was £4000 more expensive than advertised and did I still want to buy. I got my deposit back but wouldn’t trust as far I I can throw. Could be an isolated incident but false advertising doesn’t sit well with me

Purchased my first ever BMW with Specialist Cars, Tring.
Both Steven and Gary at the Tring BMW branch were absolutely great. Both very patient and fully understood my needs and circumstances. Was proud to be driving away in a brand new 1 series a week after visiting.
Thank you both Steven and Gary, best customer service I have ever received from any car dealership.
I may have moved away, but when I am due to change again in the future, Specialist Cars BMW at Tring will be my first call!
Time to continue to enjoy my new car!

I had a poor servicing experience a few years ago with the stevenage branch (never used again) and received a safety recall on my BMW in the post. I was mortified to find that they were the nearest BMW dealer that could do the check. The paperwork from BMW indicated the check would take 3-4 hours. Rang the Stevenage branch and booked an appointment for 9.00AM. 2 days before, I received a call confirming the appointment and that it was an ALL DAY appoinment meaning I had to leave the car ALL DAY. When queried, as the work would take 3-4 hours according to BMW, I was told I should have booked a WAITING appointment! How silly was I? The caller could not do that so I needed to be called back. Received a call back and booked a new WAITING appointment for a couple of weeks ahead. There was no confirmation or prior call of the appointment but I turned up, was on the system, was directed to an assistant by a polite receptionist and left the car. My wife and I left to go shopping by foot. 2hrs later received a call, the car was done, so we walked back. Greeted by the receptionist and asked to wait in the seating area. Then it all went pear shaped. The assistant was not at her desk. The recptionist didn't know where she was and made what looked like half hearted attempts to find her. Having no luck, wrote out a pink post it and fixed it to the assistants desk and I was left waiting for my car key. No assistant after 15 mins - I'm still waiting. I pressed the receptionist for someone to just give me my key so I could leave. The receptionist spoke to someone and it transpired my assistant was at lunch so the post it was moved to an adjacent assistants desk who wasn't there either. 10 mins passes and the other assistant returns and eventually sees the post it note. Asks the receptionist how long it had been there and I piped up 'at least 10 mins - can somebody just get me my key so I can leave this place'. Second assistant reluctantly saunters off to an office and returns with my key in a nice paper wallet. Apologises for the delay and I leave after waiting 35 minutes. The first assistant knew we were walking back and probably realised she would be at lunch but clearly thought the non existant 'what to do if someone is at lunch' process would kick in - nobody had a clue. I just pray I don't get another safety recall!

Just purchased my second new BMW from Ashley at the Stevenage branch . Very helpful and friendly , would recommend him and will be back to see him next year for another one !

I purchased a used BMW 335d Touring from Specialist Cars, Stevenage in June 2020, and one of the selling points to me for buying the vehicle was that it came with the remaining part of a 5-year service plan (I.e. June 2021) originally purchased by the previous owner.
On Tuesday 1st June, 2021 I contacted the Service Dept to book in the vehicle for this final service within the maintenance plan and for an MOT. I was informed that this ‘service’ would simply be an oil filter change, though it might be out of warranty as the car has now done 50,700 miles - this was not explained to me at the time of the original car purchase, it was ‘sold’ to me on the inference of ‘bring the car back in June ‘21 for this final service’.
I informed the lady that I was unhappy with the way the vehicle was sold to me last year and she said that she would arrange for the Head of Used Car Sales to call me - 29 hours later this has still not happened.
It would appear that Specialist Cars do not wish for any further after sales business from myself.....

The first time I have used a main dealer to purchase a used car,I have been really impressed the way my purchase was handled by Derek Baker the salesman who assisted me from my first contact, the purchase was so effort less,
I could not be more happy with the updates and service I recieved the car was presented to a high standard and sanitised before handover.

I went looking for a new car was not quite sure what I wanted. I got my new car, and I am very happy with it. I have to say that Hee Goh at Luton was amazing. His customer service skills are the best. He wasn't that typical salesperson he gave us alot of info regarding my 320i M Sport. He even went that extra mile with assisting with all the legal requirement for my old car and gettting the best price. Andrew

I recently purchased a 330d Shadow edition from this garage. The sales manger I dealt with (Derek Baker) was excellent. From the initial vehicle inspection until the sale was completed, everything was clearly identified and presented. I would defiantly recommend using Specialist cars Stevenage to friends, family and my colleagues.

I bought a BMW Approved Used Car (M440i) through Lee Wadsworth at Specialist Cars BMW. I'm very happy with the car and Lee was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. He replied to my initial query sent last weekend promptly, arranged a test drive for the Monday and finalised the deal there and then. BMW Finance sorted without fuss, I spent a lot more time on arranging a good insurance policy. I collected the car yesterday and it's lovely, I'm very happy with the whole process. I know many people find car buying a stressful process but if it's handled well then there's no need for it to be. For me, dealing with Lee was a pleasure, I would recommend him without hesitation and will certainly contact him again as and when I replace my car.

They do not even deserve 1 star. We will never take our car back to Specialist Cars Stevenage - I would avoid as all costs, especially if you still want a car to be working right when they return it to you. They take weeks to reply to any email/call and will never take responsibility for their errors.
