We arrived the room was dirty which we reported to reception, they offered to move us. We wanted a refund and to leave but was advised they couldn’t authorise this! I wish we had just left now. Had to leave early Sunday morning as I woke up with the most horrendous stomach cramps which then led to 2 days of a stomach bug caused by food posioning! I presume either from the food or un hygienic conditions! The whole point coming to stay was to book into the outdoor spa/ swimming area to enjoy for my husbands birthday. We did report my stomach upset to reception. Didn’t see the point as nothing would have been done sbout it anyway! I’ve lost 2 days off work and been doubled over in the worst pain! To make maters worse I was chatting to my niece who I didn’t realise had stayed recently with yourselves and experience similar things with her from being dirty at tye hotel! Had I realised I wouldn’t have booked! Totally spoilt and ruined weekend!

Great views highly recommend the Spa but avoid the Hotel, all the staff are very friendly Very overpriced had a fillet steak that came with frozen fries 1 fried tomato and a pinch of lettuce no sauce to go with it for £29, ordered a bottle of Merlot the waitress just plonked it on the table unopened and walked away (no option to sample) I would have sent it back but after waiting 20 minutes already we would of been eating the meal with no drinks. The wine was at most a cheap 11% blackcurrant juice £4 a bottle but it cost a premium £37 which is a disgusting mark up. Breakfast was average . Booked a double bed and it was 2 singles pushed together with single mattresses so had an uncomfortable dip in the middle

We stayed in a double room which, at first glance, appeared fairly presentable. However, a closer look revealed several issues that affected our overall experience.

The shower room had mouldy grout near shower, which was off-putting. The bedroom window was positioned far too high to reach. Unfortunately, the view from the window was of a noisy, rusty rooftop ventilation system, which disrupted the peace we were hoping for. This was extremely noisy.

Privacy was another concern — the lack of blinds or net curtains meant we were overlooked by other rooms. The only option was to close the main curtains, which made the room quite dark during the day. Speaking of lighting, there was no overhead light, only small bedside lamps, which made things like getting ready or applying makeup quite difficult.

The bed mattress was reasonably comfortable and the bedding was clean, which we appreciated. However, the base of the bed appeared stained, which was off-putting.

Due to the heat in the room and the noise from the outdoor fan, we tried to use the in-room fan — a decision we regretted, as it blew dust all over the room when turned on.

Breakfast was average. There were a few options available, but nothing particularly special or memorable.

While the restaurant looked lovely at first, the experience was let down by the stained seating (particularly in the central area) and a carpet that had clearly seen better days, yet their facebook page suggests it has been recently refurbished.

On a positive note, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the golf course looked beautiful and well maintained. The spa seemed popular, though we didn’t use it ourselves so can’t comment on the facilities.

When we left, we weren't asked how our stay was. I'm assuming they are used to receiving negative feedback and don't want the hassle.

We couldn’t wait to leave. Will not be returning and sadly won't reccomend this place to anyone!

The absolute WORST stay at a hotel ever. I booked to stay here for one (relaxing) night last weekend and at the time of booking over the phone I was not made aware that the hotel would be having a party/ event on the night of staying here. Music was so loud with no consideration to the other guests staying at the hotel. My partner was assaulted on our hotel floor from a drunken guest of the party. We could not get hold of reception for help and the next morning I was told only two night staff was working. Complete lack of care from the hotel. The whole experience was made worse by the general manager, Silvi George... who I had to chase every single day last week to recieve a response from, and when i did, it was a pathetic excuse of an email with little to no explanation or concern expressed.

As if this experience wasnt bad enough, our room was dirty, run down and the toilet in the bathroom did not flush properly.

The reception staff are the RUDEST entitled employees I have ever met. They act polite but thats only if you're not reporting an issue and if you are, then they are dismissive and defensive.

We have visited many spa hotels in the country and honestly this is by far the very worst. Please do not waste your money. We will never return and will advise family, friends, work colleagues to not visit this hotel either.

Had an overnight stay and the room they pit us in was dirty. I went to reception to complain ans was immediately offered a drinks voucher as an apology, I was also told that while we had our evening meal the room would be cleaned. When we returned to our room three hours later nothing had been done. It was disgusting.

So I'll start with the positive the grounds are lovely it can be such a stunning hotel.
Rooms- paid extra for a renovated room if that's newly renovated they are counting 5 years ago as new! The rooms have marks all over and damaged furniture. Cleanliness is not great there is dirt and mould growing out of the shower it hangs off!

The spa: The outdoor pool is gorgeous. I am pregnant so I could only use the outdoor and indoor pools however the indoor pool had a fault. The indoor pool area and changing rooms need a deep clean too.

I booked a pregnancy massage all you want when pregnant is relaxation but absolutely awful meant to be 50 mins over by 35 mins the person only did my back and half my leg did my head for about 5 mins on one side! I emailed the spa after I left as i just wanted to get home they replied to pass it on to a manger it's been a week and had no response.
I would not recommend booking a break here just not worth the money! Was meant to be a lovely mom to be break with my mom and it was less than relaxing.

Poor Customer service, extremely Spa poor facilities & a dose of Serratia Marcescen's & mold in the bathroom. Safe to say we will never return to this establishment.
The Spa package offers either to do half a day on the friday & half a day on the saturday or a full day on one of the days - do not be fooled, this is not an option. you must book which option you want.
We arrived on friday, checked in at 3pm to a filthy room, dust was thick on the bed frames, cobwebs everywhere & pink mold on the bathroom tiles (pictured) total health hazard.
We out of curiosity went down to the spa to see what time our treatments were on the saturday as we wanted to do the full day instead of 2 half days - to be told out facials were in 10 mins - which we had to have or miss out, & at this point we had missed the whole spa time we were supposedly allotted. The receptionist was rude & claimed this had nothing to do with her, it wasn't her fault. we got told to make a complaint at main reception.
My facial was ok but my friends was awful. didn't even take her makeup off first
after our facial we complained to receptions, she didn't care at all so we moved on.
Went to the main reception to complain, she wasn't interested. We then also tried to book our dinner reservation to be told she couldn't do that from main reception & we had to walk to the restaurant to book from there (surely the main reception is the heart of the hotel & can book everything from there!!) clearly not
The meal in the restaurant wasn't great, & drinks were very expensive (only one positive was the nice restaurant host)

We then visited the Spa the next morning & we were disappointed, the lockers are pre-locked & very difficult to unlock to then use. Most of the lockers contained peoples stuff that were unlocked as they must have given up trying. We entered the spa itself & Yuk, Moldy ceilings, dirty floors, one pool was empty (no water) draining cover was loose in the pool & my friend hurt her foot, we went outside to the one nice looking pool which was nice, but they have no limit on people in the Spa we were like sardines in a tin, no room to move. Empty dirty plastic glasses everywhere, the atmosphere was anything but relaxing.

All in all a huge expensive disappointment, i would strongly advise on not booking this place. Not just for the Spa but for your own health (Legionnaires from the bathroom) Gross

Customer service. Here is a joke Tried for over 4 weeks now to get an invoice which I can claim back through work. Been told this is nothing they can help with. And now the matter is closed. Very unhappy won't be returning

Disappointing and over priced.

We visited the spa on 25th Jan for my birthday - myself and my 2 sisters. Upon arrival we opted to have lunch first but the options on the menu were really limited with only two sandwiches to choose from because everything else was out of stock/ran out. This wasn't great but we were just trying to stay positive and enjoy the day.

After lunch we went to get changed and the changing rooms were absolutely freezing, my sister was literally dithering she was so cold. We mentioned this at reception and were told they were aware of this issue. The same happened when we changed on exit as it was still freezing. Upon entering the spa area we decided to go in the pool outside which again was so so cold, a lot of the guests were saying the same, laughing about it and saying 'don't get in there, you'll freeze' when in reality its not funny, we booked that spa specifically for its mix of facilities. It was luke warm at best and whilst i appreciate it was January we weren't able to sit in it for long at all without shaking. It was miserable.

We went for our treatments at 5pm, i was booked in for a 50 min facial which to my surprise was only 30 mins and it was over. The lady also started working on my head without asking first (i wear hair extensions). I asked what she was doing and she said she'd just do it with no product but if i'm completely honest it was like someone was just moving my hair around half heartedly, it was so unpleasant i almost asked for it to stop but i didn't want to offend but the whole experience was making me so stressed out. I also mentioned i was cold and was told she'd been doing treatments all day so she was warm - awkward! The whole experience was not enjoyable and also cut short considering we paid for a 50 min treatment. I wasnt even asked anything about my skin/problems etc at the start, it was so impersonal which again was just so sad, it was supposed to be a birthday treat for me. I could also hear the lady in the room next to us so clearly and all of their convo throughout so it wasn't relaxing at all.

Lastly i wanted to speak to someone on checkout but there was that many people in reception that we couldn't get even close to the front and i was just told to put my towels in a pile on the floor. The influx of people was crazy.

I'm not really one to complain at all but both my sisters and I saved up to visit the spa to celebrate my birthday and for it to then be such a negative experience it was just really sad.

The spa cost us nearly £500 in total which might not be a lot of money to some people but it was to us. As mentioned we did report some of the issues on the day and tried to have a proper conversation at the end to which we were dismissed due to how busy it was. I have since contacted the spa to resolve but have been ignored via email, i have sent 4 now in total so i thought it was worth the word of warning for anyone else thinking of booking - spend your money elsewhere.

Awful experience—avoid the afternoon tea at all costs! The staff were rude and unprofessional, making the visit unpleasant from the start. The venue itself is outdated, with decor that feels hastily put together and cheap. As for the food, it was truly disappointing—cheese slices with margarine on the worst white bread imaginable amongst other terrible sandwiches and cakes. The entire place seems to be surviving solely on its older clientele. I would never return.

I attended the Spa in December and paid for myself and my friend, it wasn’t a great experience. I sent an email afterwards and despite being told someone would respond I’ve still dispute chasing 6/7 times I’ve not heard anything from the Spa. The customer service is absolutely shocking, and management are leaving the front line reception team to take all the criticism. I’d never get away with not responding in three months. Ive not posted until now, as I actually thought someone would respond.

Was told robes and slippers/flip flops were included in our visit via email weeks prior to arrival. Also advised to arrive 10 minutes before the session started to allow time to get changed. The rude staff member on reception said "bit early" as he checked his watch. We said we were told we could get there early to get changed. He made us wait awkwardly at the desk until 7am exactly then informed us robes and slippers not included. If we had known we would have brought our own, had to pay £10 to hire which wasn't a huge deal but we were made to feel stupid and he made it clear he wouldn't honour the incorrect advise given by the other member of staff via email. No customer service whatsoever. The same rude man decided to clean the indoor poolside with a loud machine whilst everyone in the session were trying to relax. Should this not be done before guests arrive or the evening before? The tiles and grout around the indoor pool look weathered and dirty! Awful experience. I have been trying to get some resolution/management contact via email since NOVEMBER. Fobbed off constantly, terrible service!

Spa was freezing, outdoor pool was cold. Was not informed prior to visit and only told on enquiry that they were having problems with the heating. Very disappointed. This was on the 1st February. My daughter went this weekend and it was still the same !!

Firstly all the staff were friendly, professional and welcoming.

The whole spa area was freezing, we were given waffle robes which in the winter aren’t warm enough. The changing rooms were cold, the spa was cold and the water wasn’t warm enough. The sauna was tiny and the steam room wasn’t warm enough either. There was water everywhere on the floor of the spa around the pool which was a hazard, towels were just placed on the floor to absorb the water (which are the same ones that are given to guests).

We paid £300 for two to have a treatment, lunch and spa time. Lunch wasn’t great and the restaurant was cold considering we’re all sat there in swimwear and a waffle gown. The treatment was nice and there was loads of therapists and rooms. We left at 3:30, when we had until 5:30, as we weren’t enjoying it at all…being wet and cold isn’t a fun experience!

We won’t be visiting again and won’t be recommending shrigley hall spa to anyone.

I visited the spa in January for the twilight session with my boyfriend, which was my Christmas present from him.

Although we had proof of the booking and payment, the spa could not find our booking and tried to turn us away. The staff member was very rude, unhelpful and repeatedly huffed and rolled her eyes when we said we had both booked days off work to visit the spa, and we had multiple confirmation emails of our booking. She finally let us enter however refused to give us any robes or slippers (although these were specifically stated as part of the package therefore we had not bought our own) and stated the reason was due to only having enough robes for the amount of bookings for that evening session. However, when we were waiting for the spa to open for our use, a store cupboard behind the reception was open and was filled high with robes, slippers and towels.

We tried to remain very positive about the situation and we remained very polite with the staff when we did NOT have to be, given the fact we received no apology, she was very rude and rolled her eyes multiple time when we tried to show her the confirmation emails.

On top of all of this, we only had a small hand towel each, and given the freezing temperatures outside and grit on the decking surrounding the outside pool, we could not comfortably use the outside facilities or use the cafe area as we were too wet and not appropriately dressed to enter.

We felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable throughout the entire evening and we left feeling very disheartened by the whole experience.

I have been in the process of submitting a complaint with the spa, however the only email address available is for reservations. My complaint has been forwarded to the spa manager and I am yet to receive any acknowledgment to any my emails. It is nearing a month since my original email to the spa and I have not had any response from the spa. I am totally appalled by the staffs behaviour and customer service from such a high class establishment.

Quite disappointed really. Everywhere in the spa was soo cold, I understand no-one can predict the weather but extra measures could have been made, like blankets in the lunch area and heated blankets or just blankets during treatments. We had full day spa access, lunch and a 50 minuet treatment each (mum and I). My mum enjoyed her treatment but my hot stones massage was terriable. It was very cold in there, use of the stones was nice but if hands were used or towels moved it was very slap dash. I could have gone to my local leisure center, had a better experience and paid half the amount. Lunch was nice but flat bread was a slightly burnt tortilla, hummus was not great, wish there would have been a soup with it being so cold.Also there was no decaf tea or coffee option so if you wanted a hot drink it was hot chocolate

Booked shrigley hall golf for about the 5th time on the 29th Dec for our annual Xmas day golf society game 20 golfers , Andy the course pro looked after all the booking and was so helpfull throughout the process once again , Course was amazing as usual ,All greens open, great winter tee's and no matts , Had breakfast sandwich before and sandwiches and fries after which were gorgeous and we were looked after by George and Greg did an amazing job and the price was so cheap for the experience, highly recommend any society / groups of golfers or just a few friends to go and try this course and the facilities you'll have a fantastic day and in the summer it's even better , Once again thanks Andy and staff x

Paid £350 for a spa weekend. When we arrived to use the spa, it was absolutely filthy, the steam room had thick gunk and mould all in it, the inside pool had loads of dirt in the bottom, the outside pool loads of dirt on the bottom and the tiles all grimy. I spoke to staff and they said they cleaned daily which I was gobsmacked at, obviously a lie or very poor cleaning standards. I had bought the weekend for a present for my MIL for her birthday, and it was frankly embarrassing being sat in a filthy spa, not a relaxing experience at all and we couldn't use the steam room as it would have made us poorly. We spoke to staff about it and were told we would be given a refund, and still haven't seen it. We stayed mid November. I have commented on videos on TikTok and they are replying to everyone else's comments but not mine. Would not recommend!

Just a quick pre stay review / tip. ** Do not buy vouchers for your friends & loved ones for this hotel or spa**. I was bought a £125 voucher to use at Shrigley Hall Hotel & spa.

I have just gone to use the voucher for stay in a few weeks (which I will also be reviewing / vlogging for YouTube). When I went to pay for the stay online it wouldn't let me enter the voucher / gift card code.

I then phone the hotel reservation line which I was on hold for 15 minutes to then have the phone call cancelled from there end. After calling for the second time I finally got through to someone who told me I am not able to use the voucher / gift card online. This meant if I wanted to book the same stay over the phone it was going to cost me an extra £35 for the same booking.

This has resulted in me changing the whole stay / plans to allow me to use my voucher / gift card online.

Hopefully this isn't the start of what could be a disastrous stay in a few weeks

I'm still waiting for a refund from 19th August. Despite being in regular contact via email and I have been asked for my bank account details (not sure why the refund can't go back on the card I paid with) I have no refund. I have rung this morning, and... office hours are Monday to Friday so I didn't get to speak to anyone. So frustrating. It is so simple to put this right.

Finally... 30th September... refund received! Thank you.
