Unprofessional Customer Service
I would have given 5 stars if it wasn’t for the unprofessional customer service today. I have been using Sharps Pixley for many many years and have always been treated with the up most respect from the Tall Gentleman whom is normally there. Today there was someone different and I simply came not to buy or sell but to have some gold checked. The gentleman whom I saw today immediately told me that my gold was fake gold and not real I explained that yes the Pamp Stamp was not real as it was not from that company but that I was sure the gold must be real. Naturally this caused me some distress. He said this souly based on his own opinion after having weighed it, but not having x rayed it. I left the store and went to another place that I know on a more personal level. They told me that my Gold was real and that if I was worried to cut it in half which we did. Thankfully it was completely real but for me the whole experience made me feel very distressed and now I do not look at sharps pixley in the same light as I used to. In my personal opinion the man whom I was met by should go through customer service training and re familiarise himself with GOLD. Because to tell a customer that there GOLD is 100% fake when in reality it is 100% Real is not only unprofessional but also an uninformed decision base only on his personal opinion. Personal Opinion does not justify you telling me that my GOLD is 100% fake….. SEND this employee back to basic training immediately before he causes distress to other people based only on the fact that he is not educated enough to be in the Job Role he is in. Not only did he cause me distress but also my 77 year old Father was panicking all the way to our other Jewellery shop… In the future I will only enter the shop when the Tall Gentleman is there as he is a Professional Employee whom actually cares about clients and would never give false information without knowing for certain . Another thing YOU sir the security with all due respect as you have never been disrespectful I want to tell you that YOU in my opinion were also wrong when telling me that it makes no difference if the Tall Man was there or not, actually it did make a big difference and I want to note that asking me for £250 to check my Gold when you guys check Gold that I bought from you when selling back to you as a standard procedure makes it abhorrent to then tell me that I should PAY to have my Gold X rayed this is in my opinion a complete JOKE. P.S. The review before me had a response from Sharps pixley stating that people would be treated with respect. This has not in my opinion been seen to. Maybe a staff training course on customer service and respect is due …..Kind regards Basil

I've been buying gold and silver bullion for a while and always looking for lowest premiums. This is the best value purchase to date, and glad that it's possible to buy using credit card, unlike my former favourite dealer. Will certainly use again

Poor communication
I originally signed up with Sharps Pixley in 2022 and returned again in October 2025. I was informed that my ID documents had expired and asked to resubmit them, which I did on 26 October 2025. Having heard nothing back, I followed up again on 11 November 2025. No response was received on either occasion, and I ultimately took my business elsewhere.
