I am a gold plus customer paying a monthly boiler and heating amount and have been with SGS for a long time now. The company has I understand been taken over by Home Serve who for me were just about the worst company I ever dealt with when needing home emergency insurance claim many years ago. SGS was owned and run by a private MD now retired but the service is good and things seem to be running well. The new reception service when phoning in is a pain and that personal service that used to be there is now lacking some what with irritating pre recorded messages and options that annoy you. This is the price of corporate take over. The service I have had from the plumbing and heating over the years has been very good and this last call was professional and carried out by William one of SGS companies better technicians who has always done a great job for me. Jess SGS lady plumber came last time and also did a great job and again is a credit to her company. Good plumbing firms are hard to come by in Salisbury but SGS fits the bill and overall they are worth a try.

After considering solar energy for a couple of years, I decided to take the plunge and arrange visits/quotes from different companies. Prices ranged from £5,600 to £14,300. I contacted my local SGS branch for a quote, as recommended by a friend. At a time and day to suit me, a representative was discussing options available to me two days later. Clear, concise and very knowledgeable, Matt, the representative, constructed a plan that was perfect and at a very reasonable price. In less than 6 weeks, I now have a system which is working as explained to me previously. The Scaffolding company, solar panel installation company and the SGS electrical installation, was excellent from start to finish. I would highly recommend SGS.

We recently had SGS Heating and Electrical install a heat pump at our home, and the whole experience has been an absolute joy from start to finish.

Having had building work done in previous homes, I know how draining it can be having people in and out of your house — it's often one of the worst parts of any renovation. This was the complete opposite. SGS managed everything, including groundworks and all the planning permission requirements, with real thoroughness. Nothing was left to chance.

Every single person who came through our door — electricians, plumbers, all of them — was brilliant. Friendly, tidy, and polite without exception. The result speaks for itself too: our house has never been warmer.

The after-sales support has been just as impressive. Reception have always been helpful whenever I've called, and when I made an error and forgot to turn something on, they had someone back out to sort it almost the next day.

I can't recommend SGS highly enough, and I'm already looking forward to having them install our solar panels next.

Unfortunately we have had quite a negative experience with SGS. We were looking to have oil heating replaced with an air source heat pump, as well as the installation of solar panels and aircon at our property.

The team came out for the stage 1 and stage 2 visits to quote for the heat pump. We received the quote shortly the second visit and went back to SGS with some queries, these have unfortunately never been answered despite multiple chasers. When we call, we are promised it will be flagged again with the relevant person, but no one has ever contacted us. We were pretty much ready to go ahead with works, unfortunately we are now having to start the process again with another contractor.

During the stage 1 and 2 visits we advised we were also looking to have solar panels installed, during both visits we were told we would be put in touch with the relevant team member, however we have never heard anything.

A separate person from SGS did come out 2 weeks ago to quote for aircon, we never received this quote, nor has anyone made contact at all regarding this.

The team members who we have met have all been pleasant, and we did feel confident in moving forward with SGS, it is just a shame that communication has been so poor, to the point of simply being rude.

The company came out to install a new air-conditioning unit in my house and the whole process was perfect. The people were very polite and helpful. At the end of the day they cleared up everything and there was virtually nothing for me to do. I can recommend.SGS as a company local to Salisbury.

Superb service from SGS to replace a large hot water cylinder with some complex pipework in a confined space. Well organised, thorough, tidy and careful with neat pipework and good decision making. They were also happy to work with my own detailed requirements. Customer service team were always charming and helpful. Very impressed.

Quotes for refitting of kitchen and shower room were too high for me to accept.

We've used SGS for our boiler services amongst other things for years and always found their engineers extremely professional, efficient and friendly.

SGS fitted our new ev charger. They were easy to deal with and competitive in cost. The work was carried out promptly and was an extremely neat and tidy installation .

It was so easy to book our annual gas boiler service, there was no problem even when we had to change the date at short notice. Their engineer arrived on time, remembered to phone for access and was polite, friendly and efficient. We received our safety certificate and invoice straight away, so we will definitely be calling on them again.

Been with this company for years fitted our boiler pay for breakdown with them been without hot water for 2 and half weeks now lack of communication one engineer came out order part when I phoned will fit it on the 19th November oh no so came out 2 days later fitted it then said needed another part that was a week ago just called and they have no clue on what is going on then they will bill me for the inconvenience of it absolutely a joke

We had a leak under our shower it had been leaking for a long time, We needed the whole shower cubical replaced. stud walls replaced, radiators removed. electrics made safe. plastering,
SGS done a great job , They kept in contact even though we where abroad.
I have used SGS before and thoroughly recommend them. A big thank you to jeff cannot fault his workmanship.

From the first call with Nathan I was impressed with the knowledge and detailed provided by SGS, this only continued during the site visit with Nathan. I had four quotes, SGS the only company to turn up with a tape measure. Making use of all available space and not just guessing. We instructed SGS and I’ve been impressed, the workman ship from Luke and his team was amazing. Scaffolding up on a Monday and down by Friday. The work 1st class, with all wires in trucking, not like other installers. It’s this levels of detail that set SGS apart from the other installers. A friend of ours in the back of our work has instructed SGS for their solar system. Thank you Nathan, Luke and your team 5* from us.

SGS fitted a Dimplex boiler in my flat on 12 June 2025. The fitters broke my door lock and bathroom tap, and also left dirty footprints all over my bathroom floor and hallway floor. Very very poor experience.

Booked a boiler service a few weeks in advance. The engineer turned up within the allotted timeframe and was very friendly. Customer service was very good.

I was very disappointed with my experience with this company. I was accepted onto their SGS Service Plan, and I was under the impression that the initial inspection was simply part of the process with no extra charge. However, I was later invoiced for the inspection—something I was never informed about. Despite reaching out for clarification, the response I received cited contract clauses that had not been clearly communicated during my application. This lack of transparency and poor communication left me feeling misled and frustrated. I would advise potential customers to ensure all fees and conditions are clearly explained before committing to the service.

The engineer was polite and helpful. He explained exactly what he was going to do and completed the job quickly and efficiently. Would definitely use again.
