Scotts fail to reimburse £79 after take over
I have been a long standing customer with Scotts of Stow and in March 2023 I ordered 2 sets of expanding book shelves totalling £79. The order was delayed and I finally received them on 26 June. On the day of delivery I found they were both broken in pieces in their boxes. I returned them to Scotts through Evri who advised the returns were now with Scotts.
Since then I have sent three emails wishing to be refunded with no acknowledgement nor reply. Since I have found out that Scotts were taken over in March this year by the Woolovers Group who I believe are American. I have also contacted them with no reply.
Looks like I won't be using Scotts of Stow any more along with their associated other catalogue businesses. A loss to me of £79. So please take heed as the Scotts of Stow catalogues are still being sent out.

Since the review above, today 10/07/2023 I received a telephone call from Scotts of Stow. They apologised for the poor quality of the product (which in many years is unusual) and also a failure to contact me due to the recent takeover and the staff reduction. I was advised I would be fully reimbursed the figure of £79.90 but this would take a few days as it would be by cheque posted to my home address. As long as I shortly receive this cheque and it clears I have no problem with this method.
Trying to get a refund
On June 28th, I ordered some garden chairs online but I was called on the same day to say that there were only three available, not the four I had ordered and paid for, so did I want to cancel, I said 'yes'. The payment had been taken from my card and I have been trying ever since to get a refund. I phone every day and am told that 'the cheque was posted on the 30th' - it is now the July 7th and no cheque has arrived. Not happy.

Ordered a wheelie bin shed on a The Times newspaper promotion. Money taken at time of ordering but here I am almost 6 weeks later and still no sign of the shed. Have wasted hours hanging on their customer service telephone line (for which they charge 7p/minute) without it being answered by a human. Today got through but they said the item is with Arrow Couriers and they would phone me back immediately. That was an hour and a half ago and still no news.

Placed an order, and have been trying to cancel it.
Have tried their contact form, and 2 emails to their customer service email, but had no response.
Tried phoning but gave up after 1 hour 10 minutes, as call wasn't answered.
So not impressed with their service at all.

Awful customer service! My order was dispatched but lost by Evri. They sent me an email to contact Scotts of Stow to confirm this and request a refund or re order left hanging on the phone for 25 minutes then cut me off Rang again It was now out of stock so requested a refund but was refused saying I needed to wait 10 working days from when Evri lost the package When I asked to speak to someone senior was told none were available and a manager would call me back didn’t happen! Would have been very surprised if they had! I sent an email no reply and called again after 2 weeks and Finally received a refund. Never again would I use this company because of such bad customer service.

Pay me what you owe for an item ordered before you went into Administration. You stated the item was delayed at source, however the other items ordered at the same time were received by me. Until now, I have been pleased with items purchased except one which does not work properly, but you have ignored my statement of it. Brochures keep arriving, and many items I would purchase, but until my £25 is refunded, not a penny will I spend with you.
A bunch of charlatans. Do not waste your money.
My father in law bought some goods from them that never arrived, after making numerous phone calls he asked if I could help him, he's 83 years old, so I made a call only to be told " oh no, not us. Thats the company that went bust 3 days after cashing his cheque, not our problem"

I have given one star only because I could not give no stars. I placed an order on the 9.06.23 and informed delivery would be between 14th and 21st June 2023. No communication followed and delivery did not happen. I contacted customer service and informed despatch would be 28th June. The item was a birthday present and therefore too late and I requested a cancellation and refund. I was refused this as apparently order already picked. No ownership of the poor service was taken, I was just told it was not her fault. The whole conversation was based on an ignorant attitude of the employee. I told her I was getting no where and was ending the conversation due to her ignorant attitude. She found this very amusing and was still laughing even when she thought the call was disconnected. This is not the first disappointment received from this company regarding delivery and also alteration to product received with no communication. Complaining is useless as the attitude is appalling.
Not a company I will ever deal with again. The customer is never right but happy to take your money.

Another appalling story from Scott’s of Stow - is it possible to give them nil stars??
Order a sun lounger 21st May pay £10 special delivery.
Followed I 22nd May when delivery due. I was told it will only be considered lost 2 weeks later so I wait …. Then I ring and ask for. Refund - oh yes it’s been put on the list.. no worries. 7/10 working days.
19th June - ring today - 10 day later no refund and it might have not gone on the list. It’s an absolute disgrace - after an horrendous accident and a summer recouperating at home this ws. Gift to myself - the 4 star reviews are. Joke a they rent representative - look at the list 50 to get an idea if the incompetence - they’re using EVRI nee HERMES for heavens sake. Don’t be taken in - the shop is lovely looking and I’m sure sells some nice bits but my god. Amazon were around the same price at th e time I bought this - they sold out and I’ve paid £20 for a two day service
Warning! Do not buy from Scotts of Stow!
Just found out that Scotts of Stow went into administration in March 2023 and owe a lot of good people money. I am owed for a returned order and have heard nothing back from them over several months of chasing. I have now found various reviews on other websites pointing this out but finding no-one wants to take responsibility for their liabilities and debts. Scotts still trade with promises of great service and goods but using their new address at WoolOvers, Burgess Hill, who took them over. It is always distressing to feel cheated!! But now I have found this out I can at last follow some leads to try to retrieve the money owed.
I would like to say that I have bought from WoolOvers and never had a problem with them. Even though the company was taken over, very recent reviews suggest the standard of customer service remains abysmal. AVOID!!
Don't buy from this company
I ordered a double wheelie bin cover which was delivered on time. However, putting it together took my wife & I many hours (the instructions said 45 mins!) for the following reasons:
1. The instructions were terrible.By comparison IKEA's are a model of clarity!
2. Many of the components didn't have pre-drilled holes. So, not only did we have to guess the position, but then the physical effort of screwing into the wood was considerable.
3. The door catches were so cheap & nasty that they won't keep the doors closed. I've had to buy better replacements.
Contacted Scotts but got no response.

Terrible customer service, have spent a lot of money with them and trying to contact them is impossible. Email, website, phone line and social media. Can still buy things and they still send emails each week. Reading reviews here saying they have gone in to administration. If that’s the case why are they still taking money?

I ordered 4 leather belts which to me was an excellent offer pricewise. This order was placed nearly 3 weeks ago and was to be delivered by Evri I am still awaiting delivery of this order. I tried checking delivery update on Evri's tracking service and they knew nothing about it. Today I contacted Scotts and they informed me that the order was in the system and I should receive it soon. I said that as it was such a small order would it not be best to buy a large envelope and post it. The person I spoke to said that the system would not allow that. This is another example of the system overruling the sensible option. I have given my experience a 1 star rating only because 0 stars is not an option
Terrible customer service
I ordered some shoes online on the 24th May it said she would receive them between the 30th May and the 6th June. It is now the 12th June and when I check online it says 'in picking' so it isn't even dispatched yet. I paid £6.95 for postage which is extortionate for such slow service. I have tried to phone customer services on numerous occasions only to be cut off each time. I have also tried to submit an email online but there is no way to send it on the form! This is completely unacceptable service. Please can someone from Scott's of Stow contact me as soon as possible to sort this out.

very poor at resolving faults
Whilst initial delivery was acceptable, when one of the items was faulty it took a lot of time and a complicated procedure to resolve it. First I had to photograpgh the fault and e-mail them, then send the item back, then wait. I am sure EVRI delivered the item back to them within about two days. Eventaully after waiting nearly three weeks, I telephoned them to chase up the replacement. What a coinicidence it was despatched that day!

I ordered a weed burner from this company using a offer code the item was 49.95 and had a £20 offer code which I supplied when ordering on line within 20 minutes 49.95 was taken by the company from my bank. when I phoned I was told the 20.00 would be returned to my bank account within 3 to 4 working days. today I called and was told they had no idea about this transaction and they said it would be sorted out I asked the person who is called Ryan to if I could speak to his manager and was told he cannot transfer calls and he also told me he could not tell me his surname. A shocking way to do business will not be using this company in the future.
My order came - albeit a little late
I ordered a (usually) very expensive sun-lounger at a reasonable price. Then I learnt that the company had gone into/had been in administration and the internet was awash with negative reviews! I was very worried, especially when I was told it would be delivered on Thursday and it didn’t arrive. Then - after a few days of anxiously waiting - it came on Monday. However, I have taken off a star for the late delivery and for failing to mention their recent problems and the steps taken to address these in order to reassure customers. Other than that, I am very pleased with my item, which was much cheaper from Scott’s than anywhere else, (almost half price). Maybe I was lucky, or perhaps they are getting their act together- hopefully it is the latter.
