DEVOID OF ALL CARE - SHOCKINGLY BAD in every respect and do…
SHOCKINGLY BAD in every respect and do not deserve one star but there is no option for zero! We telephoned ahead and took my very unwell cat to this awful place (my own vets "out of hours option"). On arrival three ladies behind the reception desk who were not interested in listening to why my cat was there AND informing them she ALWAYS has Gabapentin to go to the vet so will need sedating still insisted she needed to go to Triage but I refused, regardless of saying this NINE times to them and vet Nicola (whose attitude was insulting and uncaring). After explaining that my cat has been having two weekly treatment for 9 months now she said she would "try to access her records" and she did manage to call my own vet. She then took my cat through to examine her, we heard loud growling etc and she came back to the consulting room saying "we can't handle her" and there were (literally) clumps of fur in the carrier!! When we asked what the plan was she said "Well, we can keep her here in a kennel overnight to monitor her but it won't be possible to put her on fluid therapy or you take her home and watch her!" My cat was dehydrated already at this point so I asked her "if you can't answer this question then don't respond - but do you think my cat will make it through the night?" Vet Nicola responded "well she doesn't look like a cat that is about to die!" I went to pay and there was no charge because (the receptionist said) "we didn't do anything" - well they certainly got that right! We ended up taking my cat home, I video called my old vet in Spain who confirmed my cat was dehydrated and possibly had ingested something; I spent the whole night giving her water with a syringe, made organic chicken broth and aspic (which she started to take by 05:00) and called my own vet as soon as they opened. Please, because you love your pet talk to your own vet NOW about this shameful practice and arrange an alternative vet for emergency situations; Scarsdale DO NOT have to have the monopoly if people complain to their own vet. To sum up - if I found a dead cat in the street that had been hit by a car I wouldn't even take it to Scarsdale to see if it had a chip!!
Shocking service
Shocking service. I’ve been trying to book into hydro for weeks. Tried calling 5 separate times over the last 2 weeks. Only called me back once after the first time I tried them and I missed their call. Since then I’ve tried 4 times over the course of two weeks. The phone rings and rings nobody answers. Yesterday I was on a call waiting system for 15mins nobody answered. I’m glad I didn’t need them in an emergency. I wrote an email complaint, within 3 minutes they emailed saying someone would call as a matter of urgency and nothing 24hours later. The reception team cannot book for the hydro with I find astonishing. They’ve a monopoly in the area as they’re the only one with a water treadmill. I won’t use them again for any our or dogs. Shabby over priced service.
My mum was advised from pets for vets…
My mum was advised from pets for vets to take her cat their . She was estimated around £2000 if he was to have an operation . He had no operation. Bloods taken and scan . Which came to £1700 absolutely disgusting. And phoned to say they forgot to add another £277 I would stay completely away from these 😡😡💕
Wanted to charge £750 for unnecessary tests
Tried to get me to pay £750 for tests for my rabbit. After extensive crying and worrying about money I took her to my parents local vet who charged us £25 for a consultation (already half the price of a basic consultation at Scarsdale) to say she basically has an infection and just needs antibiotics. That vet was appalled by the tests Scarsdale wanted to run on my rabbit and said that my geriatric, indoor rabbit was unlikely to even have some of the thing the tests were for as it often shows in young, outdoor rabbits in large groups! Taking advantage of people in vulnerable and emotional positions to take their money. Would never return and will warn others against this awful vets!!
Astounded and Disgusted
Referred from my vets for advanced imaging as they said an XRay was pointless and a waste of time and money........what did this so called professional vets do??? Yes 2 x-rays , not 1 but 2! Then they gave me medication but told me not to give it to the dog?? They then sent a bill for nearly £1200 !!!!
I am astounded and disgusted at this as this was not what I was referred for and could have got this done at my own vets for a fraction of this price!!!
Trying to get appointment for…
Trying to get appointment for medication for my cat Evie, 3 days and they don't answer phone
I would give 0 stars if I could
I would give 0 stars if I could. On Tuesday I took there stray cat which wasn't moving. They said he is fine and healthy and asked why I took him, maybe he was just chilling. I had to take him back with me and put him back in the bushes where I found him. On Wednesday I took him to different vet, the poor thing had been diagnosed with leukemia and put to sleep. Great vets, this cat was dying but they said he was healthy, bravo
Awful vets
If I could leave no stars I would. If you care for your pets please don’t take them here.
My dog ended up having to go another specialist vets and have major surgery after a so called simple procedure at Scarsdale.
Inept and completely uncaring. Horrendous experience and would avoid at all costs.
Dead Badger Bodies Stored On Site
I was a bit disturbed to find out that Scarsdale vets were storing dead badgers on their property as part of the badger cull.
I am meant to be the only local dead badger store - throwing dead badgers around is very bad too.
Would not recommend
Look our for the video on YouTube - Scarsdale Vets
So not happy with your service and you need to look at your policy to care
After being with scarsdale vets for a long time they have now decided to stop seeing my dog. Didn't have the guts to tell me to my face so sent a letter. Only reason I can see for their decision is because we have had to make so many complaints to them about how they have handled the care of our dog. Firstly for giving her anaesthetic to remove a cancer tumour and then bringing her round straight away as the operation was then seemed to be too big to do at a local practice. Then having operation done and sent home with no more than paracetamol type tablets. Had to be taken in as was in so much pain. Lots more happened since then and I'd be writing for days if I told it all. My dog when home after a few weeks developed bursting blisters. Was told no appointments to see her and asked to send photos of them which I did. Vet got back to me and said didn't look to bad and stick to my appointment which was 2 days later. That night we had to take her to emergency vets and was told she had narcrosis. Which in our terms is gangrene. Had emergency operation and was in for around a week on methadone etc etc. To the point where at one time we discussed with the vet maybe ending her life as she was so bad. Came out and we rested her and she picked up with our love and care. Was still having check ups at vet. Out of the blue came the letter. As said before was totally un expected. Letter said that we had lost trust both sides in our relationship. Well yes on my behalf I had as most people would have with all the things you did wrong. Too many on here to actually tell. You made the mistakes and the letter was your way out as we told you we were taking it further. Shocking treatment from people who are supposed to love and care like we do. Would certainly not recommend you to anybody. And after following my dogs trauma etc etc many of my friends have gone elsewhere. Was easier to dismiss us than talk to us and admit where you went wrong.
They used to be good but....
We joined Scarsdale Vets when they opened a new practice in Wollaton as we lived close by so was ideal however when one vet left they didn't replace her then the other vet went on to maternity and guess what they didn't replace her so they just closed the practice for a few weeks then opened it 2 days a week with only 1 vet so made it almost impossible to get an appointment their answer was drive to either Derby or Langley Mill which is crazy when the practice is right there!!! Seems like they don't want to pay another vet to improve the service, if we had an emergency we'd be in ready trouble as both of their other practices are miles away especially when you have to use taxis or public transport. We are now going to move vets altogether as you just can't rely on them anymore.
Having spent thousands of pounds on our…rudeness is not necessary
Having spent thousands of pounds on our dogs at Pride vetinary centre, I would have expected better service when I came with a prescription for our chameleon.
They were very offhand and the chemist verged on being totally unhelpful and almost impolite.
Pride vets are totally brilliant
Pride vets are totally brilliant . My dog had a total hip replacement almost 10 weeks ago . She is so much happier . Rosario & his team are second to none . I would thoroughly recommend them & have no fear that you dog will get the best care possible . Keep doing what you are doing . You are amazing
Heartbroken - Could we have saved him with the correct diagnosis?
I feel when we call Scarsdale equine vet out to our lame horse they originally diagnosed him wrong. An abcess!! we poulticed as instructed but his diet was never discussed or the fact that him compensating for the pain in one leg putting pressure on his other legs could cause stress laminitis. After 10 days of poulticing and no puss coming out we then had to deal with laminitis. Still no discussion/advice around his diet. They then got us to bute him up which he had an allergic reaction to - his face swelled up!! then the fluid settled under his stomach. I can only say that when we had to make the decision, after trying for 5 months to get him sound, to have him put to sleep due to laminitis damage the vet that attended was very compassionate and did explain every step of the way. The first vet to attend was the one who made the wrong decision. I will not be using Scarsdale Equine vets for any of my horses from now on.
Poor service and lack of empathy
I just want to share my frustration because it's been more than a week that I've been taking my dog Lola at Scarsdale Pride Vet Centre in Derby and so far, after around £1,500 pounds spent they still haven't figured out what she has. She already had 3 appointments, every time we go there we talk with a different vet and it seems that some of the details are not properly passed to the vet that is actually responsible for the treatment. They already performed joint exams, X-rays, blood tests on her and so far we don't have a diagnostic, we are still waiting for exams results that initially we were told it would be ready yesterday (19-Jul) at the latest. While we wait for her exams to be ready, the treatment can't be initiated; in the meantime, Lola's health is getting worse, she is eating very little, struggling to walk, clearly in pain, I called Pride Vet yesterday and today and so far I haven't received any reply or a call from the doctor to discuss her current state. For a whippet that is very active and playful, to see Lola barely being able to move is really heartbreaking and I am not sure if Pride Vet acknowledge how serious the situation is, as every time I call them (sometimes in tears) the maximum the reception can do is just say that they will message the vet. This is really not acceptable, I don't recommend their services. Maybe for simple procedures Pride Vet might work well, but for a more complex diagnostic, they really seem to struggle and while they try to figure things out, my Lola is waiting at home in pain :(
Bad poodle grooming
First time experience. What a horrible job she have done!! My little toy poodle have never looked that bad after a grooming session. Large short patch of fear on her thigh was chopped of by accident, I think, looking really bad. Groomer have no knowledge whatsoever how to groom a poodle and how to make a simple classic poodle style, even after showing her a photo. Fear looks dirty like it’s never been washed. Very untidy job. Pieces of fear sticking out on the face. Extremely disappointed. There was times I was grooming my dog myself and she looked 100 times better.
Pride park vets today done lovely care…
Pride park vets today done lovely care and provide pro attitude and skills with my frenchie. Let’s hope dog stays healthy as long as possible.
Negligent
We received extremely poor service which ultimately extended the suffering of our bird last week.
The bird was clearly extremely ill, and we called to see if a specialist was available. It was explained that the bird would be referred to a specialist if necessary. However, on arrival at the surgery we learnt that this specialist was not available for 6 days.
The vet that saw us ignored vital signs of failure, and was overheard saying - outside the room - that they were making it up as they went along.
We were sent away with pain killer, and animal died shortly after.
I wouldn’t even give them one star
I wouldn’t even give them one star. The equine receptionists are extremely rude and disrespectful. I was given no indication on how payment was made and when I asked for an invoice they told me it was ludicrous to expect one and quoted that you don’t get an invoice if you go to Tesco! I tried to book another appointment and when I said I was flexible they told me they have so many clients that I must specify a day as they don’t have time to check their vet’s diaries. The attitude is unbelievably negative and I felt as if I was a huge burden to them and not their client! I will never use them again and have issued a formal complaint. In all the years of knowing this practice they always seem to live up to type and are far from a customer caring business.
Incredible experience from Scarsdale in…
Incredible experience from Scarsdale in Stapenhill. Our kitten Mimi went in for a 2nd opinion on a heart murmur identified by another vet practice. They were able to spay her without any problems, despite finding a Grade 3 heart murmur under anaesthetic. I had a detailed chat with the vet Caroline who performed the op before and again after the procedure. We even had a follow up call the day following the op from one of the nurses to see how Mimi was doing. Her scar is less than a cm long and as fine as a whisker. It looks like it maybe was performed using keyhole surgery. She was sent home without a cone or recovery vest and hasn't touched it since. I couldn't recommend Scarsdale highly enough, both for their level of professionalism and their kind and caring attitude.
