Unfortunately my experience wasn’t as positive as the others. My bike ended up in an even worse state after they carried out their work. I thought I would give this place a try instead of my usual local bike shop because of all the positive reviews. The retainer bolt for the pads on my rear disc brake had sheered off so there was piece of the bolt stuck inside. Also my rear wheel was making a grinding noise after I had washed it, I think some water or cleaning fluid had gotten inside the hub. I contacted them over email and asked them how much it would cost to remove the bolt and they said that they would have to take a look in person to diagnose the problem. So I booked a visit for the stuck bolt and a hub service. They said it might take longer than a day to look at, which I was fine with. About an hour later I get call saying that they fixed the bolt but couldn’t fix the rear wheel hub because it was sealed. I was very surprised because they never contacted me before carrying any of the work out. I had asked for a hub service and for them to look at disc brake so I could weigh my options in terms of repairing or replacing it. At no point did I agree for them to work on my disc brake and at no point did they contact me beforehand to notify me they were going repair the disc brake or discuss my options. Furthermore, I was pretty sure my hubs had loose ball bearings and were not sealed. I ignored this issue and went to pick my bike up. When I got there they wanted £60 (£50 for 50 minutes of labour, £10 for the pads) which I thought was high considering the lack work that was done. I couldn’t be bothered to argue with them so I payed the price and left. As I was riding home noticed that my rear brake lever was very spongy and weak and nearly crashed into a van as a result. When I got home I decided to check the brake and realised as they had opened the disc brake, the hydraulic fluid had leaked and air had gotten inside. They had never warned me. I was expecting for £60, my brakes to be fully functioning. The brakes need to be bled now which is another £25 in costs. The pads that they charged me for were of inferior quality but are also £5 online. I could find better pads for £10. Furthermore, I checked the specifications and my rear hub does have loose ball bearings so it could have been serviced. They lied to me saying it couldn’t because it was sealed. I checked with my usual local bike shop and they said even if it was sealed they could have serviced it but it would have taken longer and they themselves would have fixed the issue with my brakes for cheaper and would have bled them. Funny thing is that the retainer bolt for my front disc also broke. I managed to remove myself in 5 minutes and it was stuck much harder than the one on the rear. I have no idea where they got the 50 minutes from. The hub service should have been £20 so it should have been £30 max but they didn’t even service the hub. So not only I have been lied to but also have been ripped off just because they wanted to rush it out quickly. I could have replaced my whole braking system (front and rear) with new parts for £60. Never again.
