My wife and I took out health insurance with this company in the summer of 2025. Unfortunately we had to stop our move to Spain and accordingly cancelled the health insurance that we had never used. We cancelled in the autumn and the cancellation was acknowledged and refund stated to be 'soon'. Months later and despite repeated reminders not a Euro of refund has been received. Accordingly, we will now be taking action from our Spanish lawyer as well as referring the situation to the Spanish authorities for pensions and insurance. Strongly suggest no one ever uses this company. Following on from this posting, we received from our brokers - Spainbrok, that I notice other reviewers have also referenced - assuring me that the refund would be forthcoming and then what was reportedly a copy of the refund notice/bank transfer. This stated payment within 3-4 working days. Needless to say, 16 days later no refund has been received into our account. Accordingly, we will be reverting to legal action since clearly this latest development strongly indicates fraudulent activity from either Salus and/or Spainbrok. I will update this TrustPilot site (and other review sites) with any further developments but, in the meantime, I strongly suggest avoiding Salus like the plague and also avoiding Spainbrok (and estate agents that recommend them) unless they can show that the pledge of refund was genuine - obviously I would amend this review if this becomes the case with Spainbrok. Update from 31/02/26 after further delays, Spainbrok to their great credit were able to transfer across a refund payment. In conclusion, I would recommend Spainbrok both as a broker and in their relationship with MySpainVisa (who were excellent throughout in my experience) but keep well clear of Salus themselves.

Telefonisch ist ihre filiale in Alicante nicht zu erreichen. Habe zweimal 15 Minuten in der warteschleife gewartet aber keinen Mitarbeiter erreicht. Das ist kein Kunden Serice. Kann man deutsch mit Alicante sprechen?

No recomiendo nada esta compañía de seguros renuevo y a los 8 dias despues me cambian la red asistencial y me dejan fuera el Hospital Quiron de Torrevieja, donde me obligan a desplazarme a mas de 40km de distancia donde tardo 2 horas en ir y volver solamente en el desplazamiento y donde tengo un perjuicio en tiempo y dinero, no avisándome antes de la renovación del próximo cambio en la red asistencial para ver si me interesa seguir con ellos.

Pagamos nuestra prima anual hace aproximadamente 2 semanas.
Hace una semana, Salus informó repentinamente que ya no se alojarían en el hospital de Qurion.
¡¡Deberían haberlo hecho 2 semanas antes!!
Estafadores.
Recuperaremos nuestro dinero porque esto realmente no es normal

This insurance works until you touch something important and substantial. In my case, and as it turns out, not only in mine, there were unjustified coverage denials. The service doesn't solve the problem, but drags out the process. I recommend looking for more reliable companies. This is a cheap and questionable option.

Mi esposo estuvo en urgencias con un dolor intenso. Los médicos lo ingresaron el viernes por la tarde. El lunes, recibimos un mensaje del hospital diciendo que el seguro no cubriría los tres días. Tuvo que salir del hospital. Tenemos un seguro excellente, que lo cubre todo, y aun así, el seguro se niega a pagar. Un seguro pésimo; cuando lo necesitas, no está ahí para ti. No lo recomiendo. Pésimo.

Been a customer of Salus Seguros for two and a half years. Used them twice before for minor items that just required a specialist review and both were fine. This time I had a TIA rang them and they suggested an hospital to go to imediately. All went well with diagnosis tests X-ray and CT scan thankfully ok for me but we were advised by the hospital that I needed to stay in maybe for the whole weekend. ( this was Friday afternoon) at 2:55 I got a call that Salus Seguros would meet treatment costs to date but would not fund any further treatment. Of course I then rang Salus and was informed they were now shut for the weekend.
No explanation, no discussion Salus left me in the lurch with a potential weekend stay in hospital and tests potentially in the thousands of euros.
Because of the good results too date and the fact I could not afford thousands, I discharged myself this afternoon and will use my S1 tomorrow to carry on my treatment. Completely disgusted with Salus Seguros and would not recommend them to anyone

I wrote a very critical review about this criminal company before, but was thrown out for reasons that I cannot trace yet. The trick they always use is this (see many other reviews) The customer is going to cost us a lot of money, so we have to do something about it. Their standard method is you lied to us when you took out the insurance because you knew what your condition was you had before and so you have to prove us that it was not so. Then they ignore all the evidence.whoever says the opposite is true, lawyers, doctors etc, they deny everything and try to make the procedure as long as possible. They are really creeps. Crooks. And they literally go over dead bodies. My daughter has to be operated soon to have any right to live further, but they don’t care. Now me and my wife have to pay for the operation ( 12.000 euro) but we do this with pleasure to save our daughters life. But how is it possible that in a civilized Country like Spain these kind of criminals can daily continue their activities

Vreselijk. Het zijn gewoon oplichters. Hun truc is: je wist wat
je aandoening was en heb nagelaten dat ons te vertellen. Ze leggen de bewijslast bij jou neer. Ondertussen zit ik met een doodzieke dochter die nodig geopereerd moet worden om nog enig recht van leven te hebben. Ze zijn echt gewetenloos. Incasseren zonder problemen de premie en gaan dan aan alle kanten tegensputteren als er kosten dreigen. Je zult maar bij zo’n bedrijf werken. Robots zijn het. Mensen zonder enig gevoel. Erg triest. Ze weten het zo te spelen dat ik uiteindelijk mijn dochters operatie moet betalen. Twaalf duizend euro. Maar ik betaal dat graag. Mijn dochters leven is mij heilig. Wat een schurken.

Had a abscess found in my colon, in hospital 3 days and everything sorted.Been insured for 5 months and salus say it was a pre existing condition even though my original doctor and consultant at the hospital say it wasn’t. They asked me for a letter from a consultant to give their honest opinion but just keep saying pre existing condition. Disgraceful company that i’m now taking legal advise on to sort out. Terrible company.

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST. I paid thousands of dollars, have been in spain for 5 months, and have yet to get ahold of them. Holds exceed 2 hours. Emails do not get answered. Even when I leave a message in que, they do not call back. My biggest - and only- regret in moving to Spain was that I took this policy. I won't even use the brokering firm that arranged it - which by the way was Spainbrok.com. Essentially: I PAID FOR NOTHING.

Do not, do not, DO NOT get suckered into getting Salus Global Seguros insurance. They are worthless, greedy, unsympathetic, corrupt bastards who take your money and deliver NOTHING. RUN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION AND GET SANITAS OR SOMETHING REPUTABLE.

He estado en varias compañías de seguros de salud y Salus es la peor con diferencia. En mi caso tenía el seguro más completo y un familiar necesitaba una operación de carácter urgente. La primera sororesa, es que por la tarde/noche y fin de semana , no estás cubierto, porque no se firman autorizaciones para un ingreso/operación de urgencia. Si ingresas tienes que pagar por adelantado. En nuestro caso tuvimos que esperar a que pasara el fin de semana para poder contactar con el departamento de autorizaciones. Al final no se hicieron cargo alegando varias razones (que no se trataba de una urgencia, a pesar de los informés médicos, que era una preexistencia...)
Finalmente tuvimos que pagar la operación y aun así mi familiar perdió parte de movilidad de un miembro. La operación nos costó casi 8.000 €. Desaconsejo totalmente esta compañía, porque te deja tirado cuando más la necesitas, que es en un urgencia.

This company is an absolute disgrace, I took out the NLV insurance that has to include no co payments, and cover all medical care including cancer. I went to a doctor in spain was told I needed an endoscopy, the insurance refused to pay as I had a pre existing stomach problem, even though I told then it was my in my throat. I had to return to the UK for tests and found out I had terminal throat cancer. Trying to get Salus to get my medical records was of no use. I ended up having to get them myself this took months salus could have requested them and it would have only been a week or two. Once I gave them my records they ignord them until 2 weeks later I asked what was happening they claim they never got them so I resent the exact same email and they admitted they had got it, but then said they won't cover me for anything to do with my cancer but the policy clearly states it covers all cancers and I have never had cancer before so no pre existing conditions could be claimed by them. I am starting legal action against them and going to find out what Spanish rights I have and how to report them to the correct departments. As far as there reply is concerned they can deal with my solicitors, so as I said pleas do not use them for anything they are awful and won't pay for any illness that costs them money.

Can i say at the start please please stay clear ,we signed up with these cowboys ,when i needed help for my wife they gave me numbers for doctors when we tried to call they never answered ,when we called Salus we could not speak to an english speaking operative ,so for one year we had no medical as no one was willing to help,so we have cancelled and now there is problems,we will see!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disgusting company. Avoid at all costs. Despite no less than FOUR medical reports (even from my Hospital Director), they blatantly refuse to pay out a claim for life threatening surgery on alleged grounds of a pre-existing condition exclusion. A condition they've been advised and evidenced I had for ONE month.

Compañía repugnante. Evitar a toda costa. A pesar de no menos de CUATRO informes médicos (incluso del director de mi hospital), se niegan descaradamente a pagar un reclamo por una cirugía que pone en peligro la vida por supuestos motivos de exclusión por una condición preexistente. Una condición que les han advertido y evidenciado que tuve durante UN mes.

Expensive. Bad communication. Don't pay if you send them a bill. We have switched to a different health insurance policy. Definitely not recommended.
