Rustin paint and varnish remover! Overpriced rubbish. Tried to remove 1 coat of paint from concrete wall caps only painted last year and didn't work. Made the Paint sticky but didn't lift it at all... Se mere

Rip-off Rustins... I will never touch a Rustins product again.
I purchases a tin of what Rustins described as aluminium wood primer. Every tradesman with experience knows that aluminium wood primer looks like bright metallic aluminium. Not this stuff! I could not detect the slightest hint of anything metallic in it (including in the bottom of the tin, where it would tend to settle). By all accounts, it appears to be cheap, grey-pigmented primer. Of course, having opened the tin, I can't get my money back. I've been taken for a ride, and will never buy anything from Rustins again as long as I live.

I bought a tin of Rustins Quick dry shed and fence clear treatment. I applied and it was very poor a few drops of water and it went straight in through to the treatment below,in fact made matters worse as it made the fence treatment below soft and repelled nothing. After emails back and forth I had several reasons why it did not work none vere valid to me, I was told a lot had sold with no complaints, maybe they did not report it, or just assumed it had worked.
I was referred to the label, which quoted it can be used on top of existing shed and fence treatments, as long as not paint or laquer. mine were just fence treatments, it was used on top of Cuprinol decking treatment and also ducks back, I had to redoo both after a light sand and were far better and repelled water droplets, far better than with the rustins on top, I also coated some composite decking with it, it soaked in , gave it two coats and perhaps not for this type of decking, it did soak in so exepcted some kind or result, I may as well have coated it with water, it was same result , water soaked in immediately, so wont be using their products any more.
In 30+ years of decorating I have never…
In 30+ years of decorating I have never come across such a tedious and unstable product. Rustin's is so unstable in colour tone that it literally changes depending upon how much you load on to your cloth. The reason for this is because the "colour" is actually pigments suspended in something like white spirit.
For anyone just applying one colour tint to a floor this will be a problem but it you're going to mix two colours then that weakness is going to be amplified, particularly if your matching new wood to existing stripped/sanded pine.
If I had to sum up using this product I'd say it was a complete nightmare. The stained floorboards would NEVER look like the sample stains I'd applied to a 3 foot piece of timber off cut I had. One attempt came out looking pink. The colour instability resulted in unnecessary new mixes being concocted and endless sanding off of the 3 foot sample piece of timber.
Technical support was all but useless. I discovered the problem with colour differences and variability according to how much was absorbed by my cloth and how thinly or heavily it was applied to the floorboards - EVEN with the same EXACT millilitre mix ratios myself - BUT not before having to sand back the newly painted "stained" floorboards 3 times before getting something that looked half average/good. That new wood was the equivalent of 25 linear meters.
Like I said, a complete nightmare. There are other products on the market like Liberon, or OSMO oils but the colours were not close enough for my project.
