Ordered a quantity of silver bullion that was stated as in stock. After 3 weeks and 3 days of waiting for these purchases to be vaulted I was told there was a glitch and the stock was not actually available when originally purchased. However, the cost, VAT and ridiculous premium was taken and I have purchased silver that does not exist (at this moment in time). I'm even losing money on the imaginary silver as the spot price of silver goes down (and up once in a blue moon). Took several emails to establish the facts. Honesty, and all of my money back, would have altered my opinion and review.

I bought some silver coins during the last 21/05/2020 and after several calls to The Royal Mint, they told me that the issue For not getting the delivery was for the Covid first (I completely understand this situation) and then they told me they are going to deliver every end of the week since two weeks ago. So Yesterday I open my account Just to follow the process to see What is going on and if the situation with the delivery change and I found my order has been cancel without any reason even when I got confirmation order Your order number(s): OB-7263867

Paid money into my account, made the purchase and 6 weeks later still no metal. Every time I call - I get told the same, 'we'll dispatch today'. This has been going on for three weeks now. Extremely poor. Basically they've over sold and dont have the goods. Great!!

A very very poor service. Ordered and paid for bullion 3 weeks back, still nothing! Customer service is atrocious, they shouldn’t take the money if they have no stock. This is not the way to buy gold and silver.
I don’t recommend royalmint bullion, calling them crap would be a compliment.
Avoid at all costs.

Very disappointing! Made a withdrawal and still not received my money and it’s been 6 days and have double checked account details. They are very slow in responding to my calls or emails. New website has wiped out my transactions too. Still chasing them!

Royal mint bullion site has been down for more than 2 days without any advance notice - a clear breach of '24/7 access to portfolio and trading' terms. Staff treats it as a matter of fact, no real apologies, feeble excuses ('site migration is taking longer than expected'), no compensation offered for loss of earnings. Feels like this company cannot be trusted. Will be looking elsewhere.

Update:

I contacted the police to report a possible fraud, and they said I should wait to see the outcome of the Royal Mint Bullion investigation. If they come back and say they believe that they have sent to coin out and DHL the delivery company are not responsible, then at that point I should raise a case with the met police for theft and not fraud. They also gave me a number to contact at that point for advice (Civil Legal Advice Tel: 0345 345 4345). I'll keep you updated on the outcome. I'm hopeful and optimistic that this is just a mistake and Royal Mint Buillion will actually send my coin out.

I wrote the above review yesterday (15-04-2020), whilst in a bit of a panic about the missing coin. I heard nothing back from Royal Mint Bullion all day, but I got a email this morning saying that they had checked their inventory and they are indeed one coin up, confirming mine had not been sent. They have dispatched the coin and issued me with a new tracking number. So, hairy moment, but they acted swiftly and honestly.

What I'll do from here on is open the package in the presence of the delivery driver while filming, and do a quick count to make sure all is there. Pain in the rear, but could avoid any confusion.

Further update, my missing coin arrived today. So the whole situation was resolved by the Royal Mint Bullion within a little over 48 hours.

Lovely website

Cons:
Awkward payment system
Poor postal security
Disastrous delivery
No proof of coin ownership

A professional website and the solid historical name of "Royal Mint" makes this company look a safe bet for buying bullion & proof coins.

But my experience (Nov 2017) was not a happy one.

Before making a purchase you must "fund" your Royal Mint account - ie. transfer money to them. Since you don't know how much to send (the price of your bullion is determined later by the spot price), you have to transfer more than you think it will cost. Then later you have to make a "withdrawal" to get the remainder of your money back, which can take up to 5 working days. What a silly system!

My real problems came with the coin delivery. DHL choose your day of delivery. You cannot alter it, nor will they give you an approximate time slot - you simply have to stay in all day and wait. The online tracking showed my delivery was Wednesday. Complete no-show. The driver finally showed up a day late and without warning. He also suggested he knew what was in the packet. Later I looked at the label which read "Sender: Royal Mint Llantrisant, Contents: Numismatic Item". Yeah, great security.

Inside the packet my plastic coin case was SMASHED TO BITS. Luckily the coin itself appears undamaged.

There was no receipt or documentation. I need a receipt for proof of ownership, especially if I choose to sell in the future, but Royal Mint would not oblige. First they sent me a screen shot of my account activity, which was a bit bizarre. I asked once again for a receipt: they suggested I print out my "Trade Confirmation", which shows the price I paid, but it's still not a receipt - it doesn't show my name or address. What kind of organisation cannot provide a receipt for a purchase of over £1,000?

I really cannot recommend anyone use Royal Mint's services - it just hasn't been thought through at all. Other websites do it so much better ... and cheaper.


If anyone from the Mint reads this please may I suggest you use either Royal Mail or DPD for delivery?

And issue receipts please - this is basic business practice.

I've dealt with Royal Mint Bullion for a number of years and have always been pleased with the range of bullion which is on offer and the prices which are charged about the spot price. On the few occasions which I've had to contact customer support (usually just a query, never a complaint!), I've always been pleasantly surprised by the level of support and assistance which is offered. As they are part of The Royal Mint, you feel safe and assured that you're going to get what you pay for and I always have. No problems at all.
