A business model built on desperation and withheld information
In Copenhagen’s brutal rental market, Copenhagen Relocations (previously known as Charlie’s Roof) presents itself as a lifeline for foreigners—yet in my experience it exploits that vulnerability. Clients are shown attractive flats at inflated rents, framed as rare opportunities, with no mention of well-known Danish rent controls that often apply to older buildings. I only learned later how straightforward it can be to contest such rents via the Huslejenævnet—information any housing professional would already know. The omission feels deliberate: informing clients would undermine the privileged access to landlords and realtors that the company appears to rely on. Polished, expensive, and deeply manipulative. To fellow foreigners: if you use their service, at least join a tenants’ union—cheap, accessible, and invaluable in Copenhagen.
I waited to write this review until the final processes with Huslejenævnet were completed, as it otherwise might have affected my legal claims against the brutal landlords that Copenhagen relocations / Charlie's roof introduced me to.
