Went in for an air-con check and a…
Went in for an air-con check and a wheel alignment as my car was pulling to the right. I was told the alignment was fine and that the suspension likely needed doing, and to come back for an air-con re-gas.
When I returned for the re-gas, I was then told the air-con still wasn’t working and that it needed a new pump, which would be over £500. I was also told the pulling to the right looked like the control arms, which would be roughly the same cost again — so in total I was looking at over £1,000 of work.
I decided to get a second opinion, and I’m glad I did. Another garage immediately noticed my front tyres were mismatched (the rears matched), swapped them over, and the pulling completely stopped. They also checked the air-con and found the ambient temperature sensor wasn’t working, which blocks the AC from running — and is a much cheaper fix than replacing the whole pump.
In the end, the second garage saved me over £1,000.
The staff at Protyre were friendly, but it did feel like they were very busy and short-staffed, which may explain why both issues were misdiagnosed.

Went in for aircon check and wheel…
Went in for aircon check and wheel alignment as car was pulling to tge right. Was told I needed a new aircon pump and that they suspected control arm was bent causing the issue. Was wouted £540 for new aircon pump and installation and told control arm would be around the same. So over £1000 in total.
I took car somewhere else and they said front tyres were odd put backs were matching so so swapped them over and that fixed steering issue. Then Plugged car into computer and determined ambient temperature sensor not working was stopping aircon from kicking in.
So saved £1000 by getting 2nd opinion after protyree qoute.
Staff were super friendly but felt a bit like they are short staffed, over worked and doing everything in a bit of a rush which feel is why both my issues were mis diagnosed
