Air Con Blast Torture
25/05/23
services from London to Oxford being all stated as Coach Full, I have been waiting in a massive queue in Marble Arch from 23:00 and several coaches passing by Full, all delayed as well, after one hour and a half people from the queue had to take a taxi back to Victoria coach station where the journey starts as it was freezing out there already, got to pay for a taxi there when the coach finally arrived we had to still pay for the ride back to Oxford even though there was such a shortage of services...
When on the coach the air conditioning got Full on, at 01:44 is very cold outside and the air con Full blast, everyone on the coach trying to turn it off or turn it away in agony as none of them have the human option to at least tilt the lid close.
I personally asked the bus driver to turn it off which he claimed twice there is nothing he can do about it.
I got a cold and a sore throat from that journey already, suffering all tge way to Oxford, it is torturing sitting in that Full blast cold air coming from everywhere,
I know I'm not going to get the just and correct compensation from that terrible experience from your services and that's why I just deeply hope whoever is responsible for such a horrible management of the routes, canseling the every 15 mins routes, putting up the prices constantly and ESPECIALLY the one responsible for the air conditioning situation inside the coach gets exactly the same experience and service in life as we all had to endure in this journey, and note there were many of us.
Because honestly I think only by experiencing the same, people understand how bad it is to have one only option of coaches back and forth from Oxford and still have to suffer so much.
Dreadful service, don’t bother.
Dreadful service, we parked at Thornhill and paid for parking in advance which you have to do. There were no available buses as they were all already full. We ended up driving into London instead, giving two frustrated tourists a lift, after waiting for over an hour as we have a theatre booked. We called Oxfordshire county council who refused to refund our parking as we had not read the terms and conditions on the ticket, WHO DOES THAT?
We will never recommend or bother with this shambles of a service ever again.
Helpful Driver
Although 4 coaches turned up at the Lewknor to London stop full, I assume due to the Train Strike . The fourth coach driver was very sorry that he only had two seats left. He kindly took the time to contact the following coach to see how many seats would be available and also the estimated time of arrival. I use the Oxford Tube at least twice a week and have always had a good service and found the drivers to be very helpful and polite, and will continue to recommend and use this company
3 inches, bad for sex, worse for cyclists
Your driver left about 3 inches either side of me on bike at the top of Headington Hill, he started pulling in to the bus stop as he overtook. Strava says I was doing 15 mph at the time, only 5mph below the speed limit in that area, he was speeding too. This isn't the first time something like this has happened.
What is wrong with your drivers, they are irritated and rude
What is wrong with your drivers? I have been treated all day with rudeness. They were irritated over simple questions. Made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Absolutely unnecessary and not acceptable behavior.
Most inconsistent bus service
Most inconsistent bus service. Waited an hour for a bus that was 45 minutes late and 3 came along. Useless do not get it and don’t trust app times it’s always late
Specifically phoned to check times it…
Specifically phoned to check times it was every 20 minutes 35, 55 & 15 past tbe hour. As I approached the bus stop there was one pulling out at 44 past the hour don’t know whether that was the 35 running late or 55 early however next bus didn’t arrive. The website said they were running a good service?????it’s a disgrace edited until 11.22 then had to then get the train 😡
Very poor service
Very poor service. Am just stuck on the 4th broken down coach in 2 months. It’s terrible
Please put the heating on!
Travelled back from London Victoria to Oxford at 1.25am on a freezing cold coach. Why is it so hard to put the heating on? It felt like the driver had the setting in to blow cold air at our ankles. It was so uncomfortable, and it just got colder and colder on the coach as the journey progressed. I was going to request for the heating to be put on when we got to Lewknor, but he didn’t even stop, just made the announcement and continued. Had a similar experience a few days before on the way to London at 6.30am. The driver said it took a while to heat up, it never did. Travelling on cold coaches has happened on so many of my journeys when I think about it. The charging points on the tables downstairs weren’t working either.
Awful service
Awful service. Costs a lot of money, though no WiFi in the bus (although promised), I asked the the customer service team how to connect to WiFi, they responded within months saying “Apologies for waiting, hope your issue was resolved”. NOTHING ELSE, no instructions or anything. The buses are always late, and their live times are not updated. Physical monthly and yearly passes with no opportunity to access it online. Really stupid and outdated system.
Avoid travelling via Oxford tube if you can.

Wasted £12 on buying a ticket from there app. To find out if you activate the ticket without going on the bus. The whole ticket will expire with in 15 mins of activation. I wanted to go on the bus the next day. Not I have to buy another ticket. Robbery... I rather go by train rather than a bunch of thieves. Dyslexia people be warned.
Don’t buy tickets from their website!!
I tried to use their app but apparently it is region blocked (couldn’t find the app in the app store since i don’t live in the UK) so I used their website to download and pay a ticket before the bus came. In my surprise the driver wanted a printed form of the emailed ticket and he told me to ask for a refund from the company. I paid for a new ticket in the bus (more expensive) and of course the ticket i paid was not refundable. Horrible horrible experience. Use the app or buy ticket IN the bus. DONT BUY ONLINE FROM THEIR WEBSITE just before taking the bus
Cheaper than a train but horrible environment
Took the Oxford tube for the first time in many years as the tains are currently on strike and unreliable.
Advantages. Buses are every 15-20 minutes, and its almost half the price of a return ticket to Marlybone.
Disadvantages - first bus was full so I had to wait a second one. Inside a horrible environment. hot, clamly steamed up and you can smell people with bad breath near to you. Full of foreigners with coughs, large bags and even bigger behinds waddeling up the isles. It takes about 1+3/4 hours to Marble Arch (the trian is 45 minutes). I shared a seat to London but had my own seat on the way back to Oxford. I resent having to pay the parking at Thornhill; OCC is supposed to encourage bus transport not charge to park your car at every opportunity.
Conclusion. Its faster by train
I had to pay the ticket twice because I…
I had to pay the ticket twice because I didn't prepare the one I bought on the internet, this is only because they don't apply the QR code, poor trees
Students are the problem.
STUDENTS STUDENTS STUDENTS are the biggest problem for The Oxford Tube. To many of them constantly fulling up the coaches and anybody else who's not waiting in town centre have a high chance of never getting on one. I've said this for many years now. The students need their own service that stops outside brooks so other people can use the coach. I waited 3 hours once at Shepherds Bush and landed up going to Victoria just so I could get home.
My life on the Oxford Tube…
I am a regular as I commute from London to Oxford on a daily basis. Many people complain about the drivers, but in my experience most of them are actually very nice (some exceptions apply...) and the price for a season ticket is pretty good (compared to GWR). The coaches are sometimes late (that time table after after say 9am is useless...) but then there is always traffic In Oxford and London and if the roads are jammed, well that bus can't fly. But that is just about the best I can say. Those buses are awful, they are less than 2 years old and it feels like they were made from old biscuit tins! The interior rattles and shatter: if it is not the screens by the back steps, then it is something in the cladding, if it is not the cladding it's the buckles of the seat belts that hammer against the windows! My advice to the engineers: tighten all screws of all things that are somehow screwed on! Speaking of seatbelts , they are garrotting me, the seats are uncomfortable and the recliner nested under the arm rest between the seats and even with my small hands very fiddly to operate. And they do not stay in the reclined position but move upright once pressure is removed. The reading lights must be in the wrong ceiling opening. It feels like they should be where the speakers are, closer to the body Now you have to read with outstretched arm. It is f*****-freezing cold! Although there are actually heating vents on the side of the coach along the floor - they are never on!! WHY?? No point begging the driver - they cannot do anything about it. Likewise the air-con (which was terribly overwhelmed in summer and now makes up for it?). The overhead storage is basically futile unless you carry a very flat briefcase. The cupholders do not fit (coffee) cups. The wifi either doesn't work or works so slow that you better off with your personal devices network. Well, they call it "Travel in Total Comfort" as said ontheir web link. It's not my definition of total comfort. Ahh yes, the worst is yet to come : that ghoulish BLUE LIGHT! What were they thinking??? The absolute sensory overkill that is making me nauseous and giving me a throbbing headache like 10min into my journey. It's like travelling in a fish-tank! Not a single seat in the coach (except for the driver seat) to escape that radioactive glow! I am in constant battle with a few drivers (not many) to at least switch it off during daylight. Now with the days so short I take the train back to London in the afternoons (£££).I appreciate that there seems to be a link between blue light and less glare in windshield, but wasn't it possible to design something less painful? I don't remember that there had been any serious accidents due to windshield reflection on the old coaches with the dimmed yellow light! Oh how I wish we had those old coaches back!
Another disastrous train strike day…
Another disastrous train strike day where the Oxford Bus Company shows no initiative for keeping customers satisfied. Busses leave the first stop in Oxford and London FULL on train strike days. All along the route are met with BUS FULL notification.
The Tube needs to earmark busses to begin their first pick up along the route, not the first stop. All would understand and appreciate.
Witnessed the crowd at Thornhill Park and Ride when yet another bus pulled up FULL. They were not going to let the bus leave. The poor driver had to deal with the masses, giving nothing but bad news.
This is a problem that would be easy to fix if anyone at The Tube had the gumption to do it!!!
4 trips this week and no internet at all.
Where to start....
Where to start.
First of all, the temperature. Apparently it's a centralised thermostat at the depot so the driver can't do anything about the freezing cold air pumping out of all the vents. I could see my breath this morning and couldn't feel my toes. I actually felt better when I got off the bus as at least I wasn't being blasted with freezing cold air from all angles. If the thermostat isn't functioning as it should, surely the driver can at least have the ability to turn off the air?
Second, why the constant diversions? I am paying for a return to St Clements and for the past few weeks/months the return journey has diverted at Headley Way so I have a much longer journey home, either paying for another bus or walking the last couple of miles. Is the diversion going to continue indefinitely? Is a new route going to be drawn up? What is happening?
The app is glitchy so you can't complain via the feedback form and if you email, you wait ages for a generic response which tells you precisely nothing.
Wow!,…
Wow!,…. Actually thought I’d be in the minority,… read reviews next time I think,… lesson to self!…. Awful service offered and ended up spending near on £60 for a family of four to then, use my own car to travel to London. Customer services haven’t replied - please!,… Come On!
Unhelpful Driver
I was traveling alone from Thornhill Park and Ride to London but became quite ill in the bus and had to get off at Hillingdon to get the coach back to Thornhill and it was nearly 8 pm and raining, I was really worried as it was dark and I am not familiar with the area. I told the driver I was not well and had to turn around and asked where the bus stop is to return to Thornhill but he was very rude and dismissive and gave a very vague direction and caused me to miss the next bus. I am appalled for the driver's attitude. Imagine if your family stranded while unwell, you would want people to be helpful. Disgraceful, it actually doesn't take a lot to be a descent human being. I am very disappointed.
