Not bad car rental company
I have mixed feeling about NU Car Rentals in Denver International Airport.
Good part: great value for sure, car is pretty new and no problem. Shuttle bus is frequent and had no issue. Not pushing to sell any extra service.
Other parts: service is not great. First, the location is further than other car rentals so it's at least 10 minutes more driving to there from the airport. Then I have to wait long at the counter since they only had one worker there at night(and closes at 12:30am). They are small and not well organized. For example, they even don't know where the car is located(though it's a small parking lot). You need to use the remote to locate the car. The returning process is very simple though, just drop the key, left the car in the parking lot and leave.
Overall, I had good experience.

Je ne comprends pas comment la plateforme CarJet peut continuer à collaborer avec un loueur aussi malhonnête que NU Car Rentals.
Cela fait plus de 6 ans que je loue régulièrement des véhicules, je connais parfaitement les conditions, notamment l’obligation d’utiliser une carte de crédit (et non de débit). Avant chaque voyage, je vérifie systématiquement mes plafonds et mes fonds disponibles.
Lors de ma dernière location, le personnel de NU Cars a volontairement simulé un refus de paiement en prétextant que ma carte de crédit ne passait pas. Pourtant, les fonds étaient bien disponibles. Par précaution, j’avais une deuxième carte de crédit… qui a soi-disant également été refusée.
En regardant leur terminal, j’ai clairement constaté qu’il indiquait une absence de réseau. Malgré cela, ils ont refusé d’en tenir compte et ont persisté à dire que le problème venait de mes cartes.
La seule “solution” proposée ? Souscrire une assurance sur place, à un tarif jusqu’à trois fois supérieur au prix initial de la location.
Face à cette situation, j’ai dénoncé une pratique malhonnête. Le personnel s’est retranché derrière le fait qu’ils n’étaient “que des employés”, tout en me proposant d’annuler la réservation — sachant très bien qu’une annulation de ma part leur est favorable financièrement.
Je suis également extrêmement déçu du service client de CarJet, qui n’a apporté aucune réponse concrète face à ce type de pratique, malgré ma fidélité et mon expérience en tant que client régulier.
Pour comparaison, je loue fréquemment chez d’autres prestataires sans jamais rencontrer ce genre de problème.

Beware!! Deceptive practices from NU SLC
NU Salt Lake City is a poorly managed franchise! It is not on site (airport) like the reputable rental companies. There is a long walk, then a shuttle to the off-site counter. Only one person working the counter and a long line (up to half-hour wait). At the counter they pressure customers to buy additional services and when you decline, they will add them to the contract anyway. They then turn a small screen around for you to review all of the fine print, and pressure you to initial in a dozen locations electronically to keep the line moving. Their office and shuttle do not open until 8AM, so plan on taking an Uber back to the airport for morning flights. After the fact, I received an inflated bill with the charges for services I specifically told them I didn't want. They added it in to one of the fine print initial areas, highlight the line item and email it to you. Customer service will not provide information to escalate. Good luck chasing your money! Avoid the hassle - DO NOT RENT from this location - if you do - DON'T trust them, take the time to read every line of the contract!!!

NU customer service leaves a lot to be desired
Rented a car in San Diego 3/12/26 suppose to pick up car at 11:00 got there about 11:30. Did not have full size sedan so they upgraded to a Nissan Kicks SUV, drove off of lot and immediately met with low tire pressure. Went to Valero gas station not able to use air hose so went back to NU (less than 0.2) miles. Filled the tires with air..guy says any further issues just take to any Discount tire, we have an account they will fix the tire at no cost to you" we leave and start touring around San Diego...light comes on after about 2 hours...go to Discount tire...4.5 hour wait they couldn't fit us in that day..went to nearby gas station filled with air checked tires no light on took off...spent friday at zoo...Saturday morning woke up tire low so bright and early we go to discount tire...they get us in...then the BS starts with NU...they don't have an account they wanted me to pay for the new tire (had a screw in it) Customer service gentleman had the personality of a concrete sidewalk said that he has never heard of anyone needing tires fixed after only driving on them for a short time...maybe it was the way I was driving and that NU was not responsible for the tires...the discount tire people were great. Got the new tire, driving around town...parked on public street paid for parking..come out to police giving NU a ticket as the tags expired 2025. The whole experience with NU was terrible. Will NEVER rent from them again.

Absolutely horrible first they are not at phoenix rental car center you have to wait and take a very small shuttle to a far off site lot in a bad area of town. Second they have a lot of hidden fees!!! They tell you one thing then after you return vehicle you see extra special fees. They will not refund you. Read the small print really well and don’t sign anything Very disappointed that Priceline is a partner with them. You think you are saving alittle by using them for car rental but you will pay more in the long run. Never use them!!!

Horrible customer service and run around. They 2 times hung up and never called back. No supervisors to talk to and will never ever rent from them again. Booking from Expedia and they kept telling me to call Expedia to make cancelation and then Expedia would point me back at NuCar. You have been warned, I wish I would have looked at reviews before booking.

Straight Up Scammers
Rental company seemed fine up front. I had prepaid through Priceline for $226.30 and then at the counter paid $86.95 for the taxes and fees stuff. Trip happened at the end of May of 2025.
In June 2025, had a random charge for $31.25 which I figured was for the stupid toll in and out of the airport. No biggie.
Then end of July 2025 I get a charge for $64.15. I had disputed it through my bank but they came back and said it was legit. I reached out to Nu and they said it was the remaining toll and admin fee. Fine whatever.
Suddenly March 2026 I get some collection notice in the mail for $183 and change stating it was pertaining to either a rental agreement or the car being in an accident. Wtf. I was never in a flipping accident and why would you try and charge me almost year later for what exactly?? This company is absolute bullshit so stay far away

"Avoid NU Car Rentals if you are flying in. I booked through Navan and was never notified of a restrictive 2-hour pickup window. My flight was delayed, and despite this being out of my control, they gave my car away immediately.
Instead of helping, they offered me a different vehicle at 3x the original price. To make matters worse, I spoke to another customer on my way out who had the exact same experience and felt forced to pay the inflated rate. The staff claimed 'nothing could be done' and no manager was available to speak with me. This feels like a deliberate tactic to exploit stranded travelers. Save yourself the stress and book elsewhere

I had 1 1/2 hour flight delay, so I got my car late my rental. It was canceled and they didn't have an economy car that I had reserved for $140
So I had to upgrade for $240
Plus I paid the $140 original fee
So total it was $380
for 4 days. Customer service is terrible. They can't do anything.

First of all when you rent from this…
First of all when you rent from this car company in Phoenix, you have to take a train then get off the train. Find a shuttle and the shuttle takes you offsite which was about a 15 minute drive it was ridiculous. Never again the reason why I will never use it again. Is the customer service of this company is horrific I encountered a rep who was trying to bully me into getting the insurance and paying for my husband to drive also she was unbelievably rude. Thank God I had a bad experience with an another car company. There is no windshield wiper fluid in the car I rented can you imagine driving all of the desert with no fluid to clean your windshield wipers are very little where it would’ve caused me not to be able to see so I made sure there is fluid in there and there was none.!!!! He practically put a whole bottle in the car so make sure if you rent the from this place you make sure everything works. My advice. Stay far far away.

Prepaid reservation canceled.
Made a reservation thru carrentals.com and it was prepaid. They canceled the reservation few hours before pick up. They are saying its a glitch in system. Now I am waiting with no car to pick up and other alternatives are now costing 4 times more. Never going to do business with them again,

Its a SCAM in AGADIR
Its a SCAM! They pretend that your CREDIT CARD DOESNT WORK, and after many tries. Suddenly they come up with a solution: PAY FULL INSURANCE FOR 200€ and no need of deposit. BUT I HAVE ALREADY PAID FULL COVERAGE !!! SCAM!!!

I was charged a $100 smoking fee when I…
I was charged a $100 smoking fee when I returned the vehicle. I contacted customer service and told them nobody had smoked in the vehicle. They said that there was what looked like weed in the carpet and had pictures. They sent me a low quality image that looked like lawn debris from pine trees where I was staying. They accused me of using drugs in there vehicle which was totally untrue and refused to reverse the charge.

A total SCAM! Cancelled our reservation then tried to X5 the price!
A total SCAM! After we booked a car through Priceline.com to collect from NU Rentals at LAX and took an uber all the way to the rental place, we found out that NU cancelled our reservation! NU then told us "that price wasn't available" even after we had a confirmed reservation and that we could rent the exact same car for X5 the price we paid. Completely illegal price manipulation and the customer behind us had the exact same thing happen to them, so apparently they do this all the time. We had to scramble to find another rental nearby and ended up paying way more money and had a massive time wasting experience at NU. We did contact priceline and the BBB to report this illegal practice and Priceline did give us a refund, but NU didn't even bother confirming with priceline that they cancelled our booking (despite the NU rental employee telling us they sent the cancellation to priceline). They straight up lied to us and gave us no options other than rebooking the same car for 5X the priceline rate. Read the other reviews - they do this all the time. TRUST ME - DO NOT BOOK WITH NU CAR RENTALS.

Absolute scam
Absolute scam I declined all the insurance only to be charged an extra $100 for one day of “LDW insurance” and “roadside assistance” that I did not agree to. The price is absolutely deceptive… All in for a day and a half a rental (11am to 9pm the next day) I paid $350.
With regard to their “response” message below, I’ve already contacted them and Nu will not take any ownership of their deceptive practices. When the rep of the counter tells you that they need you to sign that you’re waiving/declining the xtra insurances do not believe them do not sign anything. Their words will not match up with what the document says in fine print… I’m almost 50 years old. I rent cars all the time, and I’ve never had this happen. They have several complaints against them at this specific location for doing the same thing to others and I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.. I’ve provided Nu and Trustpilot the pick up date and time as well as my reservation number full name and phone number. Pickup was March 13th, 2026 11am, drop off was March 14th at 9pm both were at your Phoenix location.
To address their “new” response below, I’ve already provided them all this info, date, time confirmation number and pick up location. They have zero intention of doing anything about what is truly misrepresentation and fraud. If you check the Better Business Bureau, they have similar complaints to what I am stating from other customers.
As for the supposed video, it misquotes everything that transpired, and not only do I doubt they have the technology for such a video recording, if it did in fact exist, they are misrepresenting it to the point of complete fabrication.

"After conducting a careful review of the transaction video, rental agreement, and supporting documentation, we found that the customer's allegations are not supported by the recorded interaction.
During the rental transaction, the rental agent clearly explained the available protection options and asked the customer whether she wanted the full coverage or the basic coverage that most customers select. The customer responded that she would take the basic coverage.
The agent then explained exactly what the basic coverage included, advising the customer that it covered the rental vehicle and roadside assistance only, and that if she were to cause damage to another person's vehicle or property, she would need to rely on her own personal auto insurance. The customer acknowledged this explanation by stating, "Oh yeah, that's fine. I have great insurance." The transaction then proceeded.
The customer was also offered the prepaid fuel option. She declined the option and stated that she would return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel. The agent acknowledged her decision and moved on to the security deposit.
Before the customer inserted her credit card into the payment terminal, the agent clearly explained the charges that would be processed. The agent specifically advised that $300.00 would be held as a refundable security deposit, while the remaining balance represented the rental charges, including the basic protection package totaling approximately $99.00. The customer responded, "Okay," and voluntarily proceeded with the payment. At no point did she question the total amount displayed on the payment terminal or dispute any of the charges before authorizing the transaction.
Following payment, the rental agent reviewed the rental agreement with the customer point by point on the computer, providing another opportunity for the customer to ask questions or dispute any of the selected options. The customer did not object to any of the terms or charges during this review.
Additionally, the customer was presented with the Summary of Charges document, where the optional products were clearly identified. The agent explained that the customer was required to initial next to each optional item to acknowledge and authorize those selections. The customer voluntarily initialed each applicable section and signed the document without raising any concerns or indicating that she wished to remove any optional services.
In total, the customer was provided with multiple opportunities to review, question, decline, or dispute the optional products and charges:
During the verbal explanation of the available protection options.
Before authorizing payment on the credit card terminal after the total charges were explained.
During the review of the rental agreement.
While reviewing, initialing, and signing the Summary of Charges document acknowledging the optional items.
At no point during any of these stages did the customer indicate that she did not want the optional services or that the charges were incorrect.
Based on our review of the transaction video, signed rental documentation, and the customer's acknowledgments, we have determined that the charges were fully disclosed, properly authorized, and accepted by the customer.
The charges will stand, and no refund or adjustment is warranted."

Zero, if it was an option. Over an hour waiting in line in a cramped little office just to be told you must buy additional coverage even though my auto insurance provides coverage but doesn’t use the same verbiage. Every customer coming out was disgruntled, annoyed, pissed off!!! Be warned.

I've had a rental booked via CarJet. Location rental: Agadir, Morocco. Went to NU Car Rental, which was located in the van somewhere near the exit barrier in the airport.
They told me the credit card doesn't work, so I contacted my bank while I was with them at the same time, and my bank said there's no record of them attempting to lock money for deposit.
Consequently, two options were either to pay an extra high rental price without a deposit or to use a different credit card (all cards were the same). Clearly, the company was hoping I would purchase their insurance at an extra 50 euros per day. Renal itself was 9 euros per day.
Contacted CarJet, who said that the reservation wasn't cancelled within 48 hours, therefore it is fully chargeable.
In summary, paid to CarJet - no refund so far, PAID extra to the new rental company, paid extra for calls from abroad to my bank.
I went somewhere else (new rental company) and had no issues with the same card.
