I arrived back to the UK yesterday evening from my time in the beautiful Kaunas Lithuania.
My gallbladder removal surgery was completed last Friday by Dr Albertas Dauksa at the Nordclinic.

From my initial enquiry email to returning home my experience has been top class. Julija my dedicated logistics operator was amazing. Patient to all my many many email questions which were sensitively answered.

The clinic team were also very kind and welcoming. Meeting Dr Dauksa was a pleasure, he too was very patient and offered understandable explanations.

I met many patients who had returned to Nordclinic for other surgeries following a successful first operation.

I feel very lucky to have been in the position for this to have been an option and for me the surgery has been life changing.

From booking to actually getting the procedure done I’ve to say the staff were so nice and welcoming. Julija the rep I booked with was always speedy in replying to my needs and very reassuring. The transport and apartment team couldn’t do enough for us.
In the hospital all the nurse were nice and all had very good English. The hospital was spotless and comfortable.
We stayed in the nord apartments which were nice. And clean. The self service shop was handy but even more handier if it had some food a Bariatric patient could eat.

The experience from start to finish has been superb, from the pickup at the airport through the tests, hospital experience and post operative care.

I came here having had a fantastic experience when NordOrthopaedic relaxed my shoulder last year. This time was no different.

I was picked up from the airport with other Bariatric patients and delivered to my accommodation (also Nord) which is excellent. The next day I was pickups again and transported to the clinic for a pre-op gastroscopy. The gastroenterologist in charge asked me a load of questions prior to the procedure and also suggested I talk to my go when I get home as I may have u diagnosed microscopic colitis!

Gastroscopy done, it was back to the apartment for the night. Friday was operation day and I was picked up early and delivered to the clinic. Consults with the anaesthetist followed and within a few hours I had pre ops and was walking into the very modern operating theatre.

I woke about 2 hours later. Almost no pain at all and with the news of a total success. Recovery has been rapid and I’ve had no real adverse effects.

I’m heading home tomorrow morning with a new outlook and more respect for the team at Nord and their work

All the staff from my initial enquiry email with rep Julija, to the amazing surgeon Professor Maleckas, to the nurses providing aftercare in the clinic and apartments, were all incredible! Their expertise and professionalism is second to none. They put me at ease immediately and kept me informed and up to date with every stage in the surgery process. I'm very pleased with my surgery and that I chose Nordbariatric.

I have recently had a gastric bypass performed at Nords Clinic. The level of professionalism, responses to queries and the level of information provided at every step was excellent. The staff from customer service, logistics team, Nurses and surgeons all put my mind at ease and helped dissipate any worries I had. I would have no hesitation in recommending this clinic.

I’m only 8 days out of surgery, but the whole experience has been amazing. From the initial contact with Rūta, through the surgery and out the other end, I can’t fault it. The clinical staff and logistics staff, were so lovely, and nothing too much of a problem.

I had been on the fence about weight loss surgery for a long time. I done various research into different clinics in the UK and abroad.
I started looking into Lithuania & come across Nords. While doing my research into the clinic and professor Almantas a family friend came across and recommended Nords and spoke so highly of them as this is a clinic they use on a regular basis. After doing my research I just had this gut feeling that this was the right choice, that I was too choice Nords and you know what.. I am so GLAD I did. Now I didn’t go abroad just because of the price but many other factors. Nords was just absolute top tier 10/10. So unbelievably organised. Everyone is kind and caring. The clinic where I had the surgery the nurses are just absolute fantastic I’ve never been looking after so well. The surgeon himself is just fantastic. The reps are wonderful and so prompt. The apartments that belong to the clinic are so clean and spacious. Everything about my experience was just 10/10 I am now 2 weeks post op and it hasn’t been easy but I am feeling great ! All my incisions have healed so so so well.

Excellent service, wonderful crew and doctors, perfect and professional communication at every stage of the process, everything at the highest level. I recommend it 1000%.

I went for a Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass. I originally wanted a Gastric Sleeve however after my consultation with Professor Maleckas, it was decided that a Gastric Bypass would be more suitable due to acid reflex that I was experiencing before surgery. The surgery went very well and the post operative care was outstanding. I was experiencing Neuralgia after surgery and the nurse that visited me in the apartments arranged for me to go back to the hospital to be checked over. I was at the hospital within 15 minutes and Professor Maleckas spoke to me about the pain I was suffering with. They gave me pain relieving injections. All staff spoke decent English, the discharge letter was written in English and the hospital itself was very clean and sterile. Top marks to Nordclinic for cleanliness and professionalism. The logistics team are also very quick to organise pick ups and drop offs to/from the hospital albeit there were a couple of mixups.

On my return to the UK, I was experiencing severe chest pains. My GP referred me to the surgical team at Salford Royal Hospital. They conducted many tests on me and confirmed that there were no issues with the surgery, no blockages or leaks and the wounds were healing nicely. I eventually discovered that my pain was due to a compression fracture in my spine and the surgery was given the all clear. The surgical consultant read my discharge letter and noticed that the surgery had been performed by Professor Maleckas and she was super impressed with that. She said that Professor Maleckas is somewhat famous in the field of bariatric surgery and he regularly attends conferences in the UK - that was really positive to hear.

In the two weeks following surgery, I suffered from the typical side effects such as nausea, sickness and pain. I could only tolerate water and clear soup. My advice to somebody considering baroatric surgery is to think VERY carefully about whether you are ready to make lifestyle changes - you cannot just have the surgery and lose weight. You must reduce portion sizes, increase water intake and exercise. Some foods you will never be able to tolerate again.

Overall, very impressed with Nordclinic and I am considering returning in the future to have some cosmetic surgery if I end up with loose skin.

Choosing to put yourself through surgery is scary….choosing to do it in another country can bring on even more apprehension, but hand on heart, this has been the best experience and I wouldn’t hesitate in encouraging others to choose Nords if they are considering bariatric surgery.

The Customer Representatives from initial enquiry to the end of my journey have been so helpful, informative, courteous and very prompt in responding. Special shout-out to Rūta, Julija and Emilija.

I was offered plenty of surgery date options for when I wanted to book. I booked in November, for February surgery, but they were able to offer me dates as early as December if I wanted.

On arrival in Kaunas, Lithuania, I was greeted by a lady driver with a few other patients and transported safely in one of their logo’d 8-seater people carriers to my apartment. I stayed at one of their own apartments attached to their Aesthetics Clinic and it was modern, spacious and spotlessly clean. Some patients chose to stay at local hotels such as the Radisson and the Moxy and all reported lovely, comfortable accommodation and very reasonably priced too….£35 - £65 per night depending on where you stay.

The logistic side of the company is so slick and 100% reliable. They text you the day before any pick-ups to clinic, whether it’s pre-op, procedure or post-op checks, telling you what time they are collecting you and ask you to confirm receipt of the message. The drivers are all lovely, professional, drive safely and speak English well. When you are ready to return to your apartment, you don’t need to ask any of the Nurses or Receptionists to organise your ride, they’ve already sorted it!

The clinics are very modern, immaculately clean and state of the art. They offer single or double rooms on the “ward” which are very well equipped, comfortable and if sharing a room, you each have your own TV with Netflix. Each room has an en-suite toilet and wash basin….oh, and wifi.

The Nurses are all wonderful, skilled and attentive. They all speak English very well and if you ring your buzzer for any reason, they are in your room in less than 30 seconds….no exaggeration!! Post-operatively I was seen by a Dietician and Physiotherapist. Again, very informative, helpful and professional.

In terms of the surgery, I had a gastric band to gastric bypass conversion surgery. The day before my surgery I needed to have a gastroscopy (camera down your throat and into your stomach) as the surgeon wanted to ensure that there was no band migration or damage to my stomach prior to surgery. I was absolutely dreading this procedure, but no need at all. I was given a sedative through an IV and was out like a light. I have no recollection of any of it.

I was due to have a WhatsApp call with the surgeon, Professor Maleckas the evening before my surgery, but he was delayed at a conference. On the day of my surgery I had a face to face consultation instead where he was most apologetic about not being able to call the night before, explained the procedure, what to expect, potential risks/complications and likelihoods and gave me the opportunity to ask questions. This conversation was not at all rushed, his English is perfect, so no language-barrier issues and he’s very approachable. I was also seen by the Anaesthetist and assistant prior to the procedure. Again, very professional, reassuring and informative.

Post-surgery I was very well looked after and given medications to make me feel as comfortable as possible as soon as I asked. To be honest, I rarely had to ask, they kept on top of my pain meds for me.
The day after my surgery, Prof. Maleckas came to see me, to let me know how the surgery went in more detail, to check how I was and to allow for any questions. We are all given an emergency number to ring once we have left the clinic post-operatively, should we need it, but the wonderful Professor gives you his number too and encourages you to WhatsApp him if you need him. This man is incredible! So skilled and experienced at what he does, finds time to teach others in this field and goes for 6km runs in his short, but quality time away from his profession. You can just tell he is dedicated to and enjoys his role.

My surgery was late morning and I was discharged by teatime the next day, but a one - two night stay is expected. They don’t rush you out if you need more time. It is advised that you stay in Kaunas for a minimum of 5 days post-op and as I stayed in one of their apartments I had a nurse visit me daily to check my observations and wellbeing between 12pm and 3pm. My bloods were also checked for infection markers or any other anomalies twice before I left Kaunas, so I felt well looked after medically and emotionally.

I genuinely cannot fault the service I have received from start to finish. Better than U.K. and I’m a Nurse myself.

The whole team at Nordclinics are excellent, from the pre-travel communications through to the surgery itself. I can't thank them enough for making what could have been a traumatic experience into something almost pleasurable! I will be returning to the clinic in the future, perhaps for shoulder surgery and maybe even a facelift!

From my initial enquiries with my amazing and super efficient rep Julija, to having my gastric sleeve operation and being taken to the airport 5 days later, the whole experience has been super efficient, friendly, caring and straightforward to navigate.

I was collected at the Kaunas airport Monday afternoon and taken to the apartment I had booked with a friend. Tuesday morning I was collected again for my pre-op appointment and taken back to apartment again. In the evening the wonderful Professor Maleckas himself contacted me in the evening to discuss results and any final questions! Wednesday afternoon I was collected for my surgery and shown to my immaculately clean room which I shared with a lovely lady. I appreciated the ensuite and our own tv at the end of our bed!

From the very informed and friendly receptionists, to the caring, friendly nurses, my experience in the clinic was very positive and relaxed. My operation went well and I stayed in for two nights as I had an evenin time slot for my op. Once I’d been able to drink and eat the required amount, I was discharged.

I rested and walked around my apartment for a couple of days, even managing a nice evening walk Sunday night around Kaunas old town to see all the pretty lights that were still up from Christmas, which was lovely.

My friend and I were collected Monday morning and taken to the airport by one of the many friendly, English speaking drivers.

I simply can’t fault my any part of my experience with Nords. Even now that I’m home and 16 days post operation, they are happy to answer any question I have!!

I definitely made the right decision choosing to have my gastric sleeve with them.

First class, professional people who went above and beyond. The hospital is ultra modern and hygienically clean. They pick you up from the airport and drop you at your accommodation. If you have worries or concerns contact them. They answer every query and have a Facebook page where you can speak to others. I also spoke to my surgeon via WhatApp. This is an exceptional clinic.

This is a big decision to make and a life altering one. I was thorough in my research and everything that Nordbariatric Clinic promised they delivered. I am grateful to be well and living well. The organisation are helpful, professional, non judgemental and from the first email to the final telephone call have been nothing short of perfect.
