Disappointed. I recently had AMS replace/refit my punctured rear motorbike tyre which had done less than 100 miles from new.

On the day of collection, AMS claimed that the punctured tyre had mistakenly been taken away for disposal despite my explicit request that I would keep hold of the tyre.

Having paid my bill, AMS staff then informed me that my missing punctured tyre would be returned after the weekend but wasn’t worth keeping/non viable due to the apparent severe wear?? I did remind them at that stage that the punctured tyre was less than one week old and thankfully took a photo as proof of its condition. I was then questioned what I planned to do with it & where I was getting it repaired?? I felt their attitude to be unscrupulous & deceptive.

Since posting a (now deleted) negative review about this incident, I received a phone call from Steve who apologised for “miscommunication” and the job “not being handled as (he) would have liked.” Suffice to say, AMS has lost my trust and custom.

Couldn’t fault the service in any way from ordering online to fitting.
Ordered Goodyear 4x4 SUV all season & had a fitting slot confirmed for the following day.
Then received a follow up phone call from Michael the manager confirming all details & suggesting I call the following morning before leaving just in case the tyres were delayed.
In fact I received a call from Michael at 9.40 on the day to confirm the tyres were in. That was less than 21 hours from ordering! By contrast I had previously spoken with the local Halfords who are part & parcel of National Tyres who quoted me two days to fit! Given my overall experience with Michael & National Tyres don’t waste your time using Halfords.
I have never seen such a clean & organised workshop & it’s very large. Even the waiting room was impeccably clean all down to the standards of Michael & his team.
On a slightly negative point National Tyres should really oblige their manager here & finish painting the workshop…it would cost pittance & put the ‘cream on the cake’ for the branch & its team. Wake up National Tyres & reward where reward is due!

Went into AMS today to get 2 new front tyres, they replaced them absolutely fine and came out to ask if I wanted tracking done. Thinking its only an extra £50 why not.. they then came out 10 minutes later and told me they have snapped my tyre rod bolt and that there is nothing they can do about it until tomorrow morning ( 21.12.24) I also need my car for work.. not only did they say they can do it tomorrow morning they then tried to charge me £350 for an issue that they caused.. Told me it was a common issue on my car for these bolts to be seized, if its a common issue they should know how to get the bolts out to do my alignment. No offer of a discount on the tyres nothing like that to help me out. They just thought a young lad in a modified BMW let's see how much we can get out of him. Then told me at the desk that I can do it myself for about £40-£50.
Absolutely useless company and I will never be returning here. An hour job for £350. pathetic. Avoid at all costs. I then went to another garage ( TQ1 ) They replaced the bolt for me free of charge and were more than happy to help me as I have a long journey coming up soon. Definitely going to be using the other garage from now on.. PS they said to replace both tyre rods and tracking rods would be about £210.. thats £140 cheaper than AMS.

Rude and make stuff up
Went in there for 2 new front tyres and to have front wheel alignment and they thought without asking me they would check my shocks both front and rear my track rod end the condition off my brake fluid and my car battery was no good and done me a quote for 1600
And now. My car is dangers because pulls to left now really bad
They r so rude in there and r trying to rob people by making up jobs

ordered 4 tyres from the website recommended for the vehicle, paid and booked in for fitting on the Friday, branch called and asked to move appointment to another day because they don't have any fitters, moved to Saturday and when i arrived was told the tyres are wrong size, when explained they are the ones the website recommended he refused to fit , but could fit some others which were double the price ( and guess what!) he had them in stock ready - no thanks pal

The team at National Tyres in Paignton were so incredibly helpful and kind when we came in for a tyre repair. Unfortunately the tyre couldn’t actually be repaired but the team went way beyond the call of duty to find a replacement. Thank you guys

I paid for a service on the website which does not exist.

On January 11th this year my car broke down. AA came and diagnosed that it might have something to do with the oil. So I booked it in for a major service for the 12th of January.
The service was done and I had 2 new front tyres. However the problem of the car breaking down continued. Basically the car was ok travelling around town but put your foot down it would go into idle mode. Switch off then on again would sort of reboot it and away you go.
Booked it in with Eden Vauxhall who on examination and with photo evidence said its to do with blown spark plug. Knowing that I had mentioned having a major service recently they said they cant understand why this wasn't picked up. Then yesterday the oil light came on saying it needed topping up!!

So my question is.....what else did they NOT do??

Easy booking procedure, availability of appointments

Paignton Branch - booked online for four replacement tyres, safety check, and tracking. Excellent experience from start to finish. The online sales process was quick, easy, and very good value for money. I received confirmation emails within minutes, and a phone call the day before from the branch to welcome me. They said I should call back on the day of the booking to check that the tyres had arrived at the branch (saving me a journey if they weren't). I didn't need to call back because they called me first! I arrived for the appointment. The workshop is spotlessly clean and very well organised. I was given a very friendly welcome and told where to leave the car. All the work was complete in an hour, and I was given advice on safety aspects of the car. This included some suspension components that would need replacing. I asked whether they would mean an MOT failure - they said "No", it would be advisory only. Some garages would have persuaded me to do the work there and then.

Really impressed with this company in Paignton and I'll certainly be visiting them again. Great service, extremely good attention to detail, and they take pride in their work.
