Had a great experience with our first mortgage, assisted by our broket Harriette Lane and her support Keeley Craig. Always on top of any issues with fast response. Would certainly recommend them to friends and family.

We started speaking with Craig in August at which point we laid out the completion timeline (early Dec) and our Help to Buy situation extremely clearly. Craig confirmed he understood the case well and we would complete in plenty of time.

The mortgage completed on 30 Jan due to multiple failures from Craig / Mortgage 1st. Craig would not respond for days and weeks, was completely misinformed about the process, and honestly was a pain to work with as we had to do a lot of the work ourselves.

I asked multiple times if he knew about the Help to Buy process and he confirmed while not even knowing the basics of the RICS survey, the timeline for HTB etc. Our previous mortgage broker got it all done seamlessly with no delays but unfortunately, Craig was introduced to us by our accountant and we decided to use him
this time around.

We ended up paying additional interest to Help to Buy (order of £500 or so) and higher interest to Santander on their mortgage (order of £2K).

Incredible service.
Tricky case but they managed it.

Highly recommended! Couldn't be happier with the service my wife and I received when buying our first home. Lucy was extremely helpful and patient when guiding us through the whole process, and got us a great mortgage deal that suited our needs. We always got a quick response when we had questions (there were many!), and always felt that we were in good hands. Help with setting up appropriate insurance policies, finding a good solicitor etc was all very smooth and stress-free. Initially we were hesitant to use a broker as it was an extra cost, but in hindsight it was worth every penny and more. Thank you, and keep up the great work Lucy and the rest of the Mortgage 1st team!

Started off great , we knew we had some adverse credit issues and they led us to believe they could help as we were looking to get a joint family mortgage between myself , my wife and also our two daughters to help them get on the property ladder and not be saddled with renting all their lives. We got an initial idea of what size mortgage we could get and then the questions and requests for information started. We were encouraged to find a suitable property which we did and we also advised of the date we we moving out of our existing flat. The requests for information continued over the next 6 to 8 weeks and eventually the application was submitted to Bluestone , god help us. A further 6 to 8 weeks with myself continuing to advise of our impending sale date , to no avail. They declined to advise if our mortgage would ever be approved so we stopped the whole shambles . They made us effectively homeless as we had sold our flat and lost the property we had put an offer in which had been accepted. Even the sellers became restless as was our solicitor who couldn't understand the elongated timescale. We did all the work while they put a very healthy cost for doing virtually nothing. Well they get nothing now ! The whole experience has left us numb and any joy or excitement we had in getting our joint family home was ripped from us . We cannot recommend this company or Bluestone , avoid for your own sanity .

The company secured an offer for mortgage for me at a time it was most difficult.

Had nothing but excellent service from them. After my initial submission I was contacted by Craig who has been extremely helpful since day one and has put a lot of effort in trying to arrange a mortgage. Definitely a company that you can trust to sort out your mortgage.

I was stuck with an interest only mortgage for the last 12 years after divorce and ex husbands name couldn't be removed due to financial advisors telling me on paper I couldn't afford to remortgage , was reccomended to contact Jonathan Saint by a friend after becoming desperate and stressed by the interest rates rapidly rising and the threat of losing my home , after a very indepth email about my situation to Jonathan he reassured me he would find me a solution and arranged to come to my home at a convenient time, after discussing at length the situation I was stuck in he took all of my information and the very next day had a mortgage offer in principle! Absolutely amazed by his determination and speed to prove me wrong that he could help and he most certainly has. Within a few months and just before another interest rate rise my house is now finally my home and not under threat or stress of having to sell he really is Granthams 1 and only mortgage man and I can't thank him enough .

Brilliant service, they took so much time to explain the process to me and answered all my questions, nothing was too much trouble. A mortgage adviser is for life, not just for the first purchase! I’m so glad I’ve found a good company.
