Three lovely gentlemen Thomas, Leo and Freddy came today. They worked incredibly hard non stop. I was very anxious and they understood this and made me feel better.
Now my flat is clean, there's loads of space and it smells lovely.
It was well worth the money because I would never have been able to do it myself and my mental health and addiction problems would probably have resurfaced.
I'm a happy and less anxious bunny.

Reliable, Understanding, and Highly Professional

I had to arrange an extreme cleaning service for a relative in the UK who had fallen into very difficult circumstances managing their home. It’s a large, older house and had become extremely cluttered, so this was not a straightforward job.

I reached out to Mel’s Cleaning and was impressed by how quickly they responded. As I’m based in the US, I expected it to be complicated, but everything was handled smoothly and professionally from start to finish.

What stood out most was their understanding and completely non judgmental approach toward my relative. They treated the situation with genuine care and respect, which meant a great deal.

The team who carried out the work did an amazing job, and the office staff were consistently helpful and reassuring throughout.

I’m very grateful for their help and would absolutely recommend Mel's Cleaning to anyone needing this kind of service.

Would not recommend

I recently used this company for a full clean ahead of a new tenancy and unfortunately had a disappointing experience.

The clean was booked as an end-of-tenancy service, and I had clarified in advance that the property was a new build requiring a post-construction clean. I was advised this would be fine within the booked time.

On inspection, there were a number of areas that had not been cleaned to the standard I would expect, including visible dust and debris in cupboards, marks and residue on surfaces, and general finishing issues throughout. I raised several points at the time, some of which were addressed while I was present, but others only became more apparent on closer inspection afterwards.

I also noted concerns regarding damage and marks to finishes that were not present prior to the clean, which has since required rectification.

During the clean, I observed the team wearing outdoor shoes throughout the property, including on new carpets and flooring, without protective covers. For a new build property, I would expect this basic standard to be followed, and this contributed to my concerns around debris being spread during the clean.

The company’s position is that I signed a satisfaction form on the day and that this constitutes full acceptance of the work. While I understand their reliance on this, I did note outstanding snags at the time and did not feel the subsequent complaints process fully took into account the detail and evidence I provided.

I would expect the company may respond to dispute this review, however this is an accurate reflection of my experience.

As a landlord, I have used a number of end-of-tenancy cleaning services previously, and this service did not meet the standard I have experienced with other providers.

Overall, I did not feel the service met the expected standard for this type of clean, and I was disappointed with how the complaint was handled. I will not be using this company again.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend this service.

We are, of course, disappointed to read your comments; however, it is important that we provide some factual context for the benefit of prospective customers who may read this.
This booking was completed in accordance with our standard procedures, which include inviting the client to carry out a full on-site inspection at the conclusion of the clean. On this occasion, you attended the property, undertook that inspection, raised a small number of minor points, and those were addressed immediately by our team whilst still in attendance.
Following this, and after being expressly advised to do so only if you were entirely satisfied, you signed our completion form confirming that you were completely satisfied with the service provided. This document represents the contemporaneous record of the condition of the property at the point of completion and acceptance.
It is therefore important to note that the position set out in your review differs materially from what was recorded and agreed at the time. In particular:
• The issues described in your review relate to open and visible areas which would reasonably have been identified during the inspection process that you undertook on-site;
• The only matters raised during that inspection were minor in nature and were resolved immediately; and
• No substantive concerns regarding damage, widespread cleaning deficiencies, or unacceptable standards were recorded at the time of sign-off.
We also note that a number of the concerns referenced in your review were raised only after completion and departure from site. As with any service of this nature, contemporaneous inspection and sign-off are critical, as they provide both parties with clarity and the opportunity to address any points there and then—which, in this case, was done.
With regard to the nature of the service, whilst it was mentioned that the property was a new build, the booking remained within the structure of a standard clean with a defined time allocation. No revised scope for a specialist post-construction clean was agreed. Expectations must therefore be aligned with the service contracted.
In relation to the points concerning footwear, our teams follow established working practices and, as part of our process, floors are cleaned as the final stage of the visit, including mopping on exit to ensure the property is left in a clean condition.
We also carefully reviewed the photographic material provided following the clean. In our view, this material does not evidence the level of deficiency described, nor does it demonstrate damage attributable to our attendance. This position is supported by our own time-stamped completion photographs and internal records.
It is also relevant to note that, notwithstanding the above, the resolution sought was a full refund of the service fee. Given the minor nature of the issues raised at the time, their immediate resolution on-site, and the subsequent signed confirmation of complete satisfaction, such a remedy is not proportionate to the circumstances.
Finally, with respect to the complaints process, we responded in detail and in accordance with our published Terms and Conditions, which form part of the service agreement. These clearly set out the role of inspection and sign-off in confirming completion of the works.
We fully appreciate that expectations can vary, and we regret that you feel dissatisfied. However, based on the contemporaneous evidence, the service was delivered in line with the agreed scope and was accepted as such at the time.
For prospective customers reading this review, we would emphasise that we operate a transparent process which includes on-site inspection and customer sign-off to ensure clarity and satisfaction before departure.

The men came in and spent the whole time doing exactly what they were supposed to do. Very focused, very disciplined. They respected my instructions and were very polite. Couldn't have done a better job. We're very grateful and very happy to recommend them.

What a great job

What a great job of the deep clean of the house Mel’s team did. Very happy with everything, even the fridge and oven came up like new, which was amazing. Thomas, Freddie and Leo were very thorough, polite and friendly. I was concerned about paying upfront but it was fine. There was good communication with Mel’s throughout. I would definitely use this company again.

Highly recommend this company

Highly recommend this company - very professional and worth every penny. They arrived exactly when they said they would and got far more done in the time than I had expected. The best cleaning company ever

We hired Mels cleaning for extreme cleaning service and paid lot of money. It was worth every penny and we highly recomend this company. Comunication was very fast and we arranged clean at our parents home within a couple of day. Two ladies arrived at the time we were given and worked very hard for both days we had them booked. They were extremeley delicate with personal belongings and didn't judge the situation. Our parents hardly recognised their house after cleaning team left. They are very pleased with outcome and would like to encourage anyone to book only this company and look no further. They ask for the upfront payment but don't let that put you off as it is worth every penny and we know that this company is reliable.

AVOID AT ALL COST

AVOID AT ALL COST. Paid £450 for an end of tenancy clean. The house is still filthy. Not sure if they know what a hover is. Fridge not cleaned. Conservatory not cleaned. Cupboards not cleaned. I have sent pictures to get an email back basically saying tough luck. I have sent pictures and told they aren’t good enough quality to back my case. Told me there’s nothing else they will do and the matter is closed not offered to come back nothing. I will be going down the legal route to get funds back as landlord refusing to take house back until re cleaned so got to pay another company.

This to me shows exactly who you are as a company. You showed up over an hour and a half late I had to contact you to find out where you were. My client paid for an 8 hour clean you weren’t there 8 hours as you didn’t arrive until nearly one and magically at 8:04 you text me to say you were done. My client has 3 young children so how do you expect her to go to the house at that hour where you were meant to arrive at 10? The pictures I re sent you (you fail to mention this) clearly show that it hadn’t been cleaned. Also I was unable to download the pictures you sent so clearly a problem your end. Why not be normal and send the pictures in an email not using ‘collect’. Regarding the conservatory I specifically requested in my first correspondence with you that the conservatory roof blinds are cleaned so surely you would think that would mean above head high?
I have summarised the shocking service from you in this review not gone into every last detail. Yes I sent every single one of those text messages (great that you have the time to copy and paste every single one, breach of confidentiality there as I hadn’t given you permission to share my messages with the world). Also seems that we are not the only people who have had bad service from you. Upstairs was absolutely fine which is why I didn’t make one comment about upstairs did I? Also finding it a little suspicious that for a ‘large’ company you don’t have a phone number that actually lets you talk to a member of your staff just an automated message sending you to your website. Thanks to your useless staff my client is going to have to pay someone else to clean what you clearly couldn’t be bothered to.

It is very regrettable when customer's are unable or unwilling to accept their own failings, and this reviewer is a case in point.
At the time of booking we direct clients to our copious and clear FAQs that we believe will answer every question we've ever been asked. - sadly this reviewer failed to read these!
We make it CRYSTAL CLEAR that we do NOT work above head height unless specifically requested - sadly this did not register and the conservatory areas that exceeded head height were not cleaned.
We also make it CRYSTAL CLEAR, not only in our FAQs but in our TS&Cs AND we repeat it in the booking confirmation:
'Please be aware that should you be unable to attend, inspect and sign off the cleaning as being totally satisfactory, using our customer satisfaction form immediately after the works have been completed then you confirm you are happy for the cleaning to be completed as scheduled and that once the time booked is completed we have fulfilled and satisfied our contractual obligations.'
We were sadly forced to add this clause to all our bookings as there are way too many scurrilous, lying and cheating chancers that seek to get their money back or make threats around 'court action' or to leave nasty reviews if we don't refund them.
When it comes to the quality of the cleaning, our very high resolution images (there's 40 or so) show that we thoroughly cleaned a very tired and shabby property. This reviewer sent us teeny low resolution images of a very worn wooden floor and long shots of cabinets and then expected us to refund all her fees. sadly, this isn't happening as we did a great job.
Had this reviewer attended the property, as we recommend, at the end of the cleaning and had there been any REAL problems, we would have sorted them out, but of course she chose not to.
And now there's this nonsense about the landlord. Again, this reviewer would be well advised to read up (yes, READ!!!) on tenant and landlord legislation rather than fire off negative reviews laden with half truths and circumlocution of the real issue/s.
What was very telling was the stream of text messages we received before we revealed our high resolution images, they came one by one:

I need a response within the next 20 minutes

I would rather a full refund and get someone else

Seems to be a problem in every room

One of the reception rooms hasn't been dusted at all

None of the cupboard fronts have been whipped (SIC) down. Some of the insides of cupboards haven't been touched

The landlord has said you need to come back and do it again

This is shocking service

This list has now been distilled down into the nonsense contained in this review, and as we said very politely to this reviewer twice - we are sorry but we are unable to assist you further.

Mental health deep clean no judgement

We needed a last minute mental health deep clean. Life had been lifing and we needed help.
Communication was excellent from the first contact, to the end. They were supportive in ensuring we could access the services they offered.

On the day two wonderful gentlemen turned up.

They worked hard throughout their allotted time.

They were fast but didn’t let speed affect their thoroughness

We never felt judged everyone from my first email to the gents leaving were professional and kind.

It was difficult for us to reach out for help, we just wish we’d done it sooner.

We will be using them again in the future.

We fully recommend anyone who needs extra help but is embarrassed please don’t be reaching out was the best thing we did. Thank you all at Mel’s cleaning.

I booked a 16-hour deep clean and…

I booked a 16-hour deep clean and organisation service with Mel’s Cleaning and was left extremely disappointed. While the carpet cleaning was well done and the cleaners were polite and friendly, the rest of the service fell far below expectations.

Despite providing written instructions and drawer organisers, only one wardrobe and a couple of drawers were organised — nowhere near what was agreed. The oven was left in poor condition (despite being included in the scope), mirrors and shower screens were streaky, and a shower door was left not closing properly. I also specifically asked for the bathroom grout to be cleaned, which was completely missed.

I was working late and couldn’t be home to check the clean in person — but the team also left an hour early and leaving me no chance to go through the walk through.

When I raised these issues with the company, they dismissed my concerns, denied responsibility, and refused to offer any form of resolution. Their reply leaned heavily on their terms and conditions, ignoring the fact that much of the work simply wasn’t completed.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, all services in the UK must be carried out with reasonable care and skill and match what was promised. That legal responsibility doesn’t disappear just because the customer isn’t present at the end. What I received was rushed, incomplete, and handled poorly when I raised concerns.

I paid a premium price expecting a thorough and professional service. Sadly, this experience has left me feeling disappointed and let down. I would not recommend Mel’s Cleaning based on this

I want to clarify that I only left this review after waiting for a reply to my most recent email, which I am still waiting on. Your last email indicated you didn't want to communicate further. It’s disappointing to receive a detailed public response here before receiving any further communication directly.

While you have highlighted the grout cleaning point, that was just one of several areas I was unhappy with. I raised it with the team in person on the day, but more broadly, the organisation of drawers and wardrobes, oven cleaning, and finishing details like mirrors were not completed to the standard I was expecting from a deep clean.

I also have photographic evidence showing that key parts of the service outlined in the booking confirmation were not fulfilled. It seems there may be a difference in expectations around what a “deep clean” includes, but I based mine on the scope provided and the time booked.

Throughout this process, I’ve tried to communicate politely and constructively. I believe a partial refund would have been a fair and reasonable resolution. Unfortunately, due to the lack of a satisfactory response or resolution, I’m now considering pursuing the matter through small claims court.

I’m not someone who takes to reviews to deface a company without just cause — in fact, I likely would have left a positive review had my emails been properly acknowledged and some accountability taken.

Thank you for finding the time to leave us a review. We are pleased that you were happy with the quality of the carpet cleaning and that you found our operatives polite and friendly, but are naturally disappointed that you felt that our service fell far below your expectations.

You had engaged in an email exchange with us around some of the points you raise in this review. However before we were able to garner a response to your criticisms from the team who completed your booking, and subsequently communicate further with you, you chose to publish this rather unfair review as there are MANY omissions in it. We postulate that said omissions are in order to maintain your damning narrative of our alleged shoddy work. For example, you failed to mention ‘grout cleaning’ in your booking request, the details of which were reconfirmed to you by way of a confirmation of the booked service. Had this been mentioned we would have advised you, as we do with ALL clients’ who request it, that it is unlikely to be effective. Furthermore, you also fail to mention that we clearly state both in our terms and conditions and subsequently in the booking information sent to you that:

1. If you are unable to do a walkthrough of the property after the cleaning has been completed it is deemed that all works have been concluded to a satisfactory standard, and:
2. That we make NO guarantee that in the time booked ALL works will be completed

You have also failed to mention that in two of your emails you canvased us for a partial refund.

We provided you with high resolution post-cleaning images that are at some considerable variance to the assertions in your review. We made it crystal clear from the outset how our service works and the extent of the service, particularly in regard to the booked time, the acceptance of our terms and conditions and the limitations therein. It is regrettable that you felt the need to submit a highly negative review before we were able to conclude our email exchanges with you but this, of course, is entirely your prerogative.

Once again, we are sorry that you have been disappointed by our service and that your expectations were not met

Great communication throughout and my kitchen was cleaner than my landlord gave it to me. Honestly would recommend, the place is spotless

1 million stars plus for this company

If I could give this company and especially Fred and Leon a million stars I would, these two extremely professional kind, non judgemental men have literally changed my life in a day, they turned up on time sat where they could and worked out a plan to transform my flat from un-livable to a home, every step of the way they involved me, fyi they travelled from Luton to Chester with 12 hours notice actually 2 of the funniest people I have met and the first time I have smiled and laughed in 2 years, they are absolutely amazing, I can not recommend this company enough, they have an amazing very quick service and the workers literally do not leave anything not cleaned, these two have helped me so much with my mental health and I can finally live my life properly, there will never be enough words to thank Mel and her team, really life changing and life saving, I could go on for hours, again thank you you don't know what you actually did for me xxxx

Fred & Leon are just amazing

Fred & Leon were just amazing and can’t thank them enough. I’ve had a full renovation on my property and the care they put into making sure it’s working and dust free it just incredible. Such lovely, funny, professional and hardworking guys. Thank you both so much!
