Avoid Lamont Stone
I am extremely disappointed with the way my complaint has been handled.
Shortly after moving into my new-build property, I noticed a large area of the quartz worktop that appeared to be covered in handprints, fingerprints and smudging that would not clean off. This was not normal day-to-day marking, as any marks created during regular use could be cleaned away. The issue was present from installation and has remained ever since.
Over the last ten months, I have spent an unreasonable amount of time trying to have the matter investigated and resolved. Despite repeatedly raising concerns, I have experienced long delays, poor communication and a lack of accountability.
I was led to believe that an inspector would attend to assess the issue. However, it later became apparent that the individual sent was not an inspector at all, but a sales representative. During his visit, he told me he had never seen a problem like this before and even phoned his manager to advise that the matter needed to be escalated to another department. Given those comments, it was surprising and disappointing that the issue was not treated more seriously. I also feel it was misleading to present a sales representative as someone who was there to carry out an independent inspection.
What has been most frustrating is the repeated suggestion that this is simply normal for quartz surfaces, despite the fact that the affected area is clearly different from the rest of the worktop and has been present since installation. If this were a normal characteristic of the material, there would have been no need to escalate the matter after the representative acknowledged he had never encountered it before.
After ten months, I am still seeking a fair resolution. Customers spending significant amounts of money on a premium product should expect both quality workmanship and a professional, transparent complaints process. Unfortunately, my experience has fallen far short of that expectation.
