Awful bank. A few years ago they lost $500 of my money and I had to threaten referring them to the banking ombudsman before they admitted they screwed up. Now however, it appears they have lodged 4 (false) missed payments on my credit card which has negatively affected my credit rating. This bank is the WORST!

I went to st Luke’s branch and I told them to put the restrictions on my cars so that I can’t go on gambling site.. she told me don’t login it’s simple.. lolva

Kiwibank is the most useless bank. So many hurdles to jump through just to change a phone number. Changing banks once I sort my stuff out. Never banking or recommending kiwibank

Moving to New Zealand back in July 2022 as an essential worker was a lot and I made a mistake for not going to Kiwibank first to open a bank account. I tried to open an account online and in person with another bank and it took ages so I couldn't get paid. By the time they responded to me saying they needed a couple more things from me, I had already been paid because Kiwibank made it really easy for me to open an account. I just walked into a bookstore that had a Kiwibank window and my account was set up and I had an eftpos card in less than 20 minutes! Customer service was superb and having many branches all over the country helps a lot! Big thanks Kiwibank!

Not surprised this bank has a 1.5 star review. They are absolutely useless - stay away

Difficult to do anything, tried changing my phone number, because other number is no longer valid, but they still kept sending verification to old number, tried ringing for help, waited for 3o mins to be told cant be done over the phone. ridiculous

Can’t access account. Asked for password and secret question. Page won’t load. Help page does exactly the opposite of the word “help”. Any chance of immediate action sadly lacking. When the site works not bad but makes money for itself better than it helps its customers. Another awful kiwi bank but slightly better than others I have used. Weak and pathetic. If I gave my customers the same service I would be out of a job.

OMG so the new blocking of customers card without any notice when the bank suspects fraud!!! I gamble on overseas sites, and the bank blocks my card. No notice! Customer services gas light me and say "we sent an email" it takes 5 business days to get a new card to you. That's it Kiwibank after over 20 years with you I'm done!

I am sick of the over the top security. Telling me that normal bank transactions could be a scam and then wanting to send me a text! I have NO CELL PHONE connection. So will be transferring most of my funds to a more user friendly bank.

Ive been a customer with kiwibank for about 20yrs. They weren't great at the start but I came to like them over the years. Its now when I have a mortgage they do not want to offer me a better rate even when other banks had a better rate advertised. They are now making stupid excuses to make customers move their $$ currently in any savings account/s, that is linked to an off set home loan, to non interest earning daily accounts. Its enough. Might move home loan to another bank.

Bank of Toy Town would be a more accurate name. Have endured them for far too many years and now have decided they will never improve and time to move on with my personal and business accounts. Found on-line payments to be a real headache and their ridiculously over-the-top security requirements to be just wasting my time, for their protection. Contacting the customer helpline is such a chore. Have an ANZ account, and a mortgage through them, which has been operating really well for 5 years, so will transfer there.

Signed up online, they opened an account for me. I completed online verification of my identity, submitted all required: Drivers license, real time image and still they asked me to come into a branch. I work, I signed up online for convenience and its been anything but. Dont recommend.

I have banked with Kiwibank since 2017. I recently ordered a Visa Debit card and was told it would take 7 to 10 business days. After a month I went into the Customs Street, Auckland branch who told me that it would take 7 to 10 business days. I reminded them it's been about a month which is 20 business days. I then told them I'd like to close my accounts. After a few minutes of the teller closing the account he then asked me the reason for why I was closing, which I then had to repeat. I also mentioned the bank was also extremely slow in processing payments, especially my auto payment for rent. This government owned bank hasn't changed much since other government owned banks. I can see why Dr Michael Cullen was reluctant to setup Kiwibank when Jim Anderton pushed for it in 2002. The Australian owned banks are alot more efficient and would recommend them over Kiwibank.

Christchurch Riccarton branch are the best customer service. Multi cultural and non discriminative. Always friendly and helpful.
