Me and my partner have been here many times. Never had a bad experience. It's a beautiful location with access to main roads out of London and to the harry potter tour. The staff are all amazing.
We are going back later in the year... honestly, can't wait!
Rooms need revamping badly, I don't understand how the hotel has received such high praise on other reviews (paid for or staff reviews maybe)? We were in a "superior" room. Nothing superior about it, I'm pretty sure we were put in a bog standard room which had marks, the toilet seat didn't fit the toilet properly (so it felt unclean and uncomfortable) and the room is tiny for the price point. I told them it was our anniversary and I know hotels aren't obligated to do anything, but a simple cheap prosecco, or free drink generally on the house would've gone far further and changed my mind a little on the overall feeling on the place.
I can’t comment on the rooms but I can comment on the service I received for a private event. The initial enquiry was picked up by Amy who was professional, helpful & just really nice. The booking process was easy & Amy was extremely thorough so captured everything prior to the day of the event. I read some reviews previously about the food but Amy reassured me with some good reviews and thank god she did. I don’t know what the bad reviewers had eaten but every single one of the guests were blown away by the food! The starters specifically were exquisite (sweet potato & coconut soup/thai fish cake/ham hock terrine). I am actually trying to find another event that I can book just so I can eat these starters again! The mains and desserts were delicious. Service on the day was really good. I believe it is the Manor House where the events are held rather than the hotel. The hotel could definitively do with a refurbishment but overall I was extremely happy with how our day went. Thank you Amy and to the Hunton park team for a lovely christening celebrating.
Went to Hunton park for lunch on Friday 2nd January i pre booked a table the customer service with horrendous the food for was very poor we had fish and it was over cooked and dry we had no napkins and dirty cutlery we sat where the staff were eating their food, it was cold and very unfriendly.
The other poor thing was the steps to reception were not salted to clear the ice and the hand rail had thick ice frozen onto it where it had snowed earlier in the day this is very poor and dangerous and the steps were steep and slippery very disappointed with the whole experience
This was a very special weekend for us so we decided to push the boat out and picked this hotel as its website and photos looked amazing.
Also it was perfectly placed for our needs.
We book a deluxe king room with breakfast included for 2 nights.
On arrival our room was stifling hot and was told it would take a while for the air conditioning to bring the temp down.
We went out to eat and on returning 2 hours later the room was the same temperature. On complaining to reception we were given a fan!
We did not sleep at all that night, so went down early for breakfast, only to be told we hadn't paid for breakfast. On explaining we had book 2 nights with breakfast included we aloud to get our breakfast.
It was self service, we had only just sat down to enjoy it when we were again accosted, this time by a very rude woman who challenged us again saying we hadn't paid, this in front of other guests, I was no longer in the mood to take this and demanded to see the manager.
On telling him of our grievances, he apologised and assured us the rooms air conditioning would be repaired whilst we were out during the day.
On returning to our room after being away for 5 hours they had opened a window! The ac was not working!
We were given another fan and after an hour was ask if we were happy!
After answering no, only then we were offered a room change.
The ac worked fine in the new room but too little to late, the weekend had all but been ruined.
My wife wanted to travel home that night straight from the event we had gone up for but after a night with no sleep I was not fit to drive over 240 miles.
We did sleep but got up and left before breakfast as my wife didn't want to risk being embarrassed again.
Attended a murder mystery event with an overnight stay. The event was brilliant, unfortunately the same cannot be said about our stay. The cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired ~ faeces on the outside of the toilet and a very tired looking bathroom.
Informed reception, showing the photo, who said they would send housekeeping to deal with it whilst we had our breakfast. On our return, no sign of housekeeping.
Brought this to the attention of receptionist (again) when checking out, to which I received a standard apology, the same one as four other guest received whilst i was waiting for a taxi.
Appalling attitude ~ immediate action to clean the disgusting and unhygienic state the loo should have been of paramount importance.
Would add a photo, but can’t see how to attach one.
Evidently misrepresented and misselling of rooms.
1.Our booking confirmation states double superior which as per the website at time of booking and our stay stated should of given us rooms of the gardens. “Our superior bedrooms come with everything a classic room has to offer, as well as stunning views out over the gardens”
They have now removed this from their website after my complaint highlighting the misselling of rooms. Room 56 does not comply with the spec of a superior double it is tiny poorly maintained and you are unable to see out of the window as it is by the maintenance yard. This was intentionally done.
2. we were put in (54) a TWIN. the wallpaper was ripped and there were leaks in the ceiling stains on the carpet as well as cobwebs and a damp smell in the bathrooms and the shower tray was broken.I have since found this is not a one off as there are reviews from September in the same room advising of the same issues. So please dont insult paying customers by replying shocked like this has just occurred or is a one off.
3 alarmingly Staff kept a fire exit open all day and night. Apart from going against fire regulations this meant our room was freezing as it was directly opposite. Management dont want to address this issue either.
4.Breakfast was barely edible and cold. Lady behind the food was miserable. However one good thing the cappuccino was lovely.
I was also told “but superior rooms are slightly bigger than classic rooms.” Again validating my complaint that room 56 is not a superior room as room 54 a twin was bigger.
Hugely disappointing as the Manager was dismissive of my complaints and not willing to work towards a suitable solution instead said we were upgraded as we didnt want dinner - I dread to think what we would of been given had we opted for dinner. The cost of our room ( and confirmation) is also more than the room we stayed in.
Desperate to offer the true Christmas experience they’d overbooked the hotel and there was no room at the inn. Interestingly they suggested we try Holiday Inn , one assumes that is the benchmark they measure themselves by and told us we’d receive a refund in due course.
Appalling service by staff who appeared very much out of their depth in a customer facing role.
Thankfully we found another hotel that was independent nearby which was lovely and who told us this appears a regular occurrence. Book with extreme caution and don’t assume the room will be there when you arrive so ensure you have both the funds and an alternative if/when it turns out they’ve overbooked.
Visited here on my birthday for Afternoon Tea with my Mother. Was really looking forward to this experience. On arrival in to the main entrance, no signage to indicate where Reception may be. No staff around to ask. Walked around a series of corridors with tatty, filthy stained carpets underfoot until I found someone to ask directions to Afternoon Tea. Was directed to the bar area. No staff visible. Walked up a flight of stairs as could hear someone talking, someone on a conference call, no interaction to be had. Went back downstairs, and finally a member of staff appeared. Showed us to a tiny table, there were only two tables made up in a very underwhelming, non-atmospheric area by the bar, with filthy carpets all around! Smelt musty and of damp dog! I was speechless. The Afternoon Tea was pretty poor, finger sandwiches consisted of cucumber, no cheese, tuna, ham and tomato,
and hummus and vegetable. Not great. Scones were edible. Cakes were non- descript. The waiting staff were very attentive so this was at least a redeeming feature of this visit.
If you are thinking of going here, I wouldn't bother, far nicer, cleaner places to enjoy a celebration.
Yesterday evening I went to a Social event and I can honestly say the food was slops. Even the worst working persons cafe has never been this bad
I realise taste is subjective but in my opinion is was fit for the pigsty. All the food was cold, and the 30mm piece of french stick they served with the starter must have been cut some considerable time previously as both sides were stale. Do not use this establishment for any kind of celebration unless you can bring in your own caterer. Waiters serving food with fingers in the top of bowls and cups. Even the coffee was cold
The building is tatty and in need of renovation and the steps down from the reception area to the marquee are an accident waiting to happen
If the Hotel is given the investment it needs and they allow independent caterers, it has great potential but as it stands I would have given zero stars if I could
Where to start really, booked the hotel for a cream tea, plonked in a room with no other customers, no ambience in the place at all, my daughter was asked to sign a disclaimer (peanut allergy) overall very very disappointed, wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!!
Absolutely dreadful staff and customer service… 2 day break spoilt. Sent email to complain and was told a manager was emailing me the same day…. 2 weeks later and still waiting
Anyone thinking of booking a wedding at Hunton Park Hotel I would absolutely forget it.
2 wedding coordinators leaving within the space of 4 months of each other.
0 communication, actually having to attend open days just to be able to speak to a human being.
Oh and don’t hold your breath on getting your money back. Our refund was agreed 2 weeks ago Sunday and still not received a single penny from them.
What is supposed to be a happy experience planning and finally booking your wedding venue has turned into an absolute shambles and nothing but stress.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
As a wedding photographer, I have had the pleasure of capturing many beautiful moments at Hunton Park in Hertfordshire. This stunning venue offers a truly magnificent setting for weddings, with its classic Georgian proportions, tall white columns, and breathtaking parkland. The Queen Anne Mansion House at Hunton Park is a charming and historic backdrop for your special day, and I can attest to its timeless beauty and elegance.
The driveway leading to the Mansion House is a sweeping and impressive entrance, surrounded by 22 acres of rural parkland. This creates a sense of grandeur and arrival that sets the tone for your special day. The Mansion House itself is a stunning example of Queen Anne architecture, with its tall white columns and tasteful decor. Over its 190-year history, the house has played host to a number of colorful landowners, lords, and ladies, and even served as the location for the 1970 romantic film, "Raging Moon."
One of the standout features of Hunton Park is the dedication of their team to making your special day perfect. They understand that it's the little details that make all the difference, and they work tirelessly to ensure that everything is planned to your exact requirements. This level of attention to detail creates a truly personalized and unforgettable experience for you and your guests.
From a photographer's perspective, Hunton Park offers an abundance of stunning photo opportunities, both inside the Mansion House and in the parkland surrounding it. The large windows and well-lit spaces provide ample natural light for capturing beautiful photos, and the classic Georgian proportions offer a timeless and elegant backdrop.
In conclusion, I highly recommend Hunton Park in Hertfordshire as a wedding venue. The beauty and elegance of the Queen Anne Mansion House, combined with the stunning parkland and dedication of the team, make it a truly unforgettable and perfect setting for your special day. Whether you are looking for grandeur and style or a more intimate and personalized experience, Hunton Park has something for everyone.
Kindest regards
