Hi James just dropping a in with little note to wish you and your family a Happy New Year and to thank you for our little blessing Cavapoo Saffron. She has turned our world upside down for the better, she is a little madam and now cannot imagine our lives without her. She is very spritely and we all enjoy her enjoy her morning runs and walks and watching her joyfully springing through the woods. We took her on her first beach holiday this year to Cornwall and we were so proud of her, she was actually best on the beach because she is super cute and full of character. Not quite manage a full swim yet but we are working on it as she is still only 17 months old. Just to say thank you so much for our little blessing. All the best to you and your family James.

We bought our lovely cockapoo, Bertie, from Raffles (now Humpries) in 2019 for £2,500. He was a gentle, affectionate soul who brought endless joy to our lives. Tragically, we lost him at just 6 years old due to serious spinal issues. Our vet believes these were likely the result of poor breeding practices — something we've sadly discovered has happened to other dogs from this breeder too.

Toward the end of his life, we were also left with a vet bill of over £4,000, doing everything we could to manage his condition and keep him comfortable. He deserved so much more.

At the time, Raffles (now Humpries) appeared to be a reputable and experienced breeder. But after Bertie’s health declined, we began to learn about serious concerns: high-volume breeding, expired or transferred licences, lack of proper health testing, and many other owners reporting heartbreakingly similar experiences.

We can’t get Bertie back, but we can share our story in the hope that it might help others make a more informed decision.

If you're looking for a puppy, please ask difficult questions — about health testing on both parents, how the puppies are raised, how many litters are bred, and what aftercare is offered. A responsible breeder will be transparent and genuinely care where their puppies go.

Bertie deserved better. So do all dogs.

In August 2024 I had a terrible experience with Humphriespoos. I put a deposit down on a cavapoochon puppy and was persuaded to pay the full amount by James Wetton to his father’s account - Mark Wetton. The total I paid was £1150, I was told that he would refund me if I wasn’t happy when I came to pick up the puppy. I got suspicious after being sent videos of the puppy, she was very dopey and was always with a different dog, there was no socialising or play, she also seemed terrified of the owner and cowered when his hand went nearby, it felt very strange. On reading dreadful reviews on Trustpilot and by contacting facebook groups about the poor practice of Humphriespoos I pulled out (within 2days) and requested a refund. I was told I could get the £950 when they sold the puppy! I said no, that’s not how it works. James didn’t respond to emails or texts for weeks so I finally issued a county court judgement. I have heard nothing - if I could give these scammers a minus star in the review, I would. They used my good nature and soft heart to steal my money. Unscrupulous behaviour, I’m surprised they are still in business. They have been closed down once before. Do NOT go near them, they are crooks and are not to be trusted. I since bought a puppy from a reputable breeder. The experience of Humpriespoos has left me financially broke and upset.

It's taken me a while to write this post as I was so angry with Humphries Poos. Within hours of picking up our cockapoo puppy we found she was covered in lice. A trip to the vets confirmed this. The vet also said lice on dogs is very rare and usually only found on dogs kept in cramped conditions and squaller. It took weeks and weeks of treatment and combing out the lice from Mabel's fur. She also couldn't be around other dogs to prevent infecting others so this hampered her puppy socialisation.
When I called James and told him what had happened he said it wasn't possible as she'd had her flee treatment - obviously he knows very little as the flee treatment doesn't prevent lice. He couldn't provide an explanation as to how she'd caught them or why no one had picked this up whilst in his care. If she was handled and cared for like he said his puppies were, there was no way you could miss the state she was in.
James promised to refund my vets bills- I never saw them money.
It was quite clear Mabel had not been looked after, was kept in poor conditions and had not been socialized or taught how to play. She still has anxiety issues which we're working on. I've since spoken to two other cockapoo owners on our estate who have had dogs from Humphries Poos and both have problems. One has to walk with an anxiety harness as he's scared of other dogs, it's such a shame. Stay away from this breeder. I was fooled by James - he lies to cover up lies. Made millions from puppy farming.

High end puppy farm, hiding behind a showy website. Multiple businesses folded, wanted by HMRC for unpaid taxes and penalties exceeding £1,000,000. If you want to know how awful these people and the many many customer horror stories are seek out all about Humphreys and Raffles (breeders) on facebook.

How these people havent been shut down for animal cruelty is beyond me. Do not line these peoples pockets. This is a puppy farm. From visiting it looks like a very high scale operation - not a family pet breeding situation. These dogs seem terrified of the owner who is also really flippant and just something "off". I couldn't believe they were the same people who ran Raffles which was in the news for animal cruelty. If you love dogs, don't allow them to continue this operation by giving them money. I have since found a very local breeder who has the dogs living in her home as pets, has 3 generations of the dogs who have lived to 11 years old & meets up with us for dog walks & is ALWAYS available to answer questions. That is responsible, can't believe I even entertained this puppy farm.

I'd also like to add that a responsible breeder will allow you to change your mind at ANY time. The breeder i went with actually had a dog returned to her once (only once in 10 years) after a few months, and she accepted it back because to her, the dogs are like babies.

I visited Humphries poos last Thursday and the visit really unsettled me. As soon as I left I reported them to the RSPCA and the animal welfare department.
My sister told me about Humphries poos and the website looked very efficient and professional so I didn’t do much research on them that was a mistake!
I got in touch with James who was very helpful in terms of availability and when I could view etc. He sent a photo of the pups and rang me at the beginning of the week as I originally couldn’t view for a week or two and I was convinced to put a deposit down.
After that the communication dropped.He couldn’t send photos as he was busy, my partner was getting a bit worried as we’d paid a deposit but didn’t know what puppy we secured so I messaged a few times to be told he would send photos but his dad was unwell something just felt off so I looked at the trustpilot reviews!!! These made me panic so I decided I needed to go asap. I messaged James and arranged a visit on 6th June.
We drove in through electric operated gates to a stunning (and obviously very expensive) house.
We were seated in what I presume was a viewing area with plush sofas and a couple of pens.
James started chatting about cockapoos and how he had some deposits but nobody had picked the puppy they wanted so the choice was mine. I interrupted him to state my inquiry was about the caverpoo litter and that’s what I had put the deposit on. He disagreed with me a little until I refreshed his memory of our emails, this makes me think he has multiple litters for sale and has no idea who is taking what dog!
He went to fetch the 4 available pups ( we weren’t shown where they were staying) We asked if we could see mum and dad. He went to fetch mum who he said was 5 years old and dad was running around in a field but we never got to see him.
Mum was shaking and just looked absolutely terrified the whole time we were there. She accepted some fuss from me but wasn’t overly interactive with the puppies. As we were leaving James bent down to pick mum up and she cowered away from him which just confirmed that she obviously isn’t being treated very well by this man at all!
I drove away feeling sick and in no way excited about the puppy we were hoping to purchase.
After discussing it we decided not to go ahead with the purchase from Humphries poos as I can’t line the pockets of someone who obviously has no care or compassion for these poor animals.He obviously didn’t refund my deposit and I haven’t even bothered to fight for it as I would rather put my energy into making as many people aware of this place as I can.
It is very concerning to me that the families previous business was shut down for mistreatment of animals yet their son can re open on the same premises just under a different name.(previously called raffles)
Other people might find the lavish surroundings impressive I felt like they were covering something up but please go and decide for yourself.

Having had a cockapoo from Raffles and had the best experience and we have the most amazing dog when looking for another we went back to Raffles. As they had retired and passed the business to their son we met James from Humpfries Cockapoo.. we are delighted, we had great communication via WhatsApp with James, different pictures of current and then later litter, we chose George and we picked him up in October 2023 and whilst he is a different temperament to our boy Arthur, he is a delight and his training is coming along. Both dogs eventually got along with each other (exactly as James said).
There are lots of negative reviews on here but I don't recognise those experience.
Our experience with Humphries and with James is 100% positive and when we go again for another we will go back again.

Back in January we decided to look for a Cockapoo puppy to join us in our retirement. We looked on line and unfortunately found Humphries poos web site. it looked professional, so I contacted them through the web site and after leaving a couple of message's James Wetton came back to us and we agreed a visit to see some pups and meet mum, with a view to reserving one of the next litter.
We visited his home/ business on the 27th Jan, and met 2 pups that were due to be picked up the following week. We had a long chat with James who seemed very knowledgeable. So we left a £250 deposit in order to reserve one of the next litter , as James said the deposit was fully refundable if we found another pup or changed our mind.
We left with James saying he expected the next litter would be born around the end of March and if there was what we wanted in the litter we could pick her up around the end of May.
After a couple of emails in Feb We linked in with James via WhatsApp as he said he could forward pictures of the pups when they were born. Just before we went on holiday in March we had contact from James , who said " just waiting on mum to pup" and then again a week later saying "any day now" and again the following week " Sorry she is still holding on"
A week after that the web site was advertising cockapoo pups ready for pick up in May. So naturally I contacted James to enquire if the pups had been born? We had no response for a number of days despite numerous WhatsApp's. Eventually James came back saying he had health issues in the family, and that he had cavapoochon's being born right now,
I went back to him saying we had left a deposit on a cockapoo not a cavapoochon, and that we were going to look elsewhere as we didn't think communication between us was working out. I wished his family a speedy recovery from there health issues and asked for my deposit to be put back into my account.
That was on the 27th March, and despite numerous WhatsApp's and emails to the web site we have had no further contact from him.
I am now having to look to the small claims court in order to get my money back.
For us the whole process has been a complete let down and quite upsetting, and we feel we have been lied to the whole time. Please share this review as I would hate anyone else to have to go through what James and Humphriespoos have put us through.

it is now March 8 2024 and Trust Pilot emailed saying Humprhies Poos wish to know why i left the review i did ! It is more than apparent why..... they agreed to reimburse me my £200 as i changed my mind about taking a puppy from them. This is all stated in my review and this has been going on since December when i had a change of heart due to their lack of contact . James said he had been unwell and would refund my money via email twice and apologised but I have still not received the refund..... I am in the process of filing a small claim against them as this is not what we agreed which I have via email in writing from him. They need to honour their word.

Go to their site today and see them selling 4 pups . Do they look well to you ?

Having read some of the previous reviews, we went to pick up our Cockerpoo, with a bit of trepidation.
However, we cannot speak highly enough of James & his dad. From the beginning email until we got our puppy there was great communication. We were introduced to the parents and all the dogs we saw were well looked after. We are thrilled we our puppy. When we went to our vets they were very impressed with the paperwork and tests already done on our pup and her parents.
I’m sorry for others they might not have had a good experience, but we would go back for another dog and are very happy with our beautiful Bella

Unfortunately wish I’d seen these reviews before we’d chosen Humphries. We too bought a puppy from them and have had a similar experience in being ignored from the minute we paid the deposit. Had to basically beg for one photo update and remind James several times for this after first asking. No updates after that so not sure where all the ‘updates and regular contact’ comes from?
Upon picking our puppy up she smelt awful and we then discovered on night one she was riddled with what we later discovered from our vet was biting lice. Obviously this has made us question the conditions she’d been living in since we went to meet her at 3 weeks old. We did think it was weird the living quarters weren’t visible when we picked her up. First James agreed to reimburse us the vet and treatment fees but in true Humphries style this never happened and subsequent messages have been ignored.
Aside from the customer service being shocking, I’d be more concerned about the conditions the puppies are living in if they’re covered in lice and no one at Humphries noticed/cared to treat them.

I’m resubmitting this review as when I’ve written my entirely honest fact based poor reviews of Humphriespoos in the past the company gave then challenged it as not genuine and had it removed. I can assure you it most definitely is genuine, and it’s written to protect the memory of our poor dog Archie who was sold to us by the Wetton family with multiple serious health issues that ultimately led to his death before his fourth birthday and many years of painful medical treatments that he endured before that .
Here’s my previous review from March 2023 and then an extract from the original one in 2022 ( both of which were subsequently removed) :
I’m not a ‘keyboard warrior’ and want to challenge the 5 star ‘perfect reviews’ below who are questioning any negative reviews. I want to emphasise that every word of my previous review from November 2022 is true. Our dog from Raffles ( now trading as Humphries Poos) only lived until just before his fourth birthday and had medical issues from when he was 6 months old, this can all be confirmed by our vets, receipts and the specialist vet school he attended on a regular basis. We were told all adult dogs used for breeding are health tested, but our vet told us that our dogs medical issues were genetic( Ehlors Danlos syndrome and Grade 4 Patella Luxation) so clearly the ‘medical testing’ done on his parents wasn’t very thorough.

Here’s my previous review below and for full info ( and Humphries Poos challenge me every time I’ve written a Trust Pilot review to prove I’m a real owner and every time I’ve provided the evidence and my previous reviews then remain on this page as ‘verified owner’, so what does that tell you? Every word I’ve written is true and can be backed up with lots of evidence of the really short life inflicted on our poor puppy by these horrible breeders / puppy farm)

I am giving one star as it won't allow me the option to give no stars. Please avoid buying anything from Humpriespoos. I bought a beautiful cavapoo pup from Raffles (the same company as Humphries, Raffles was the previous company but then magically changed into Humphriespoos when Raffles was getting too many complaints from owners and the council got formal complaints and had to investigate them. The same family own it, look at Companies House for the Wetton family's string of businesses). We bought our dog in February 2019 (parents were Duke and Smudge). I thought I'd done my research, and this company looked amazing but its all very carefully curated and hides a multitude of very ill puppies being sold, and over 100 litters being sold every year (how can they sell that number of puppies from their supposed 'family' set-up?). Look at information on the facebook groups "All about Humphries and Raffles" for some truly heartbreaking stories.
I'm can provide receipts, and vet and hospital reports on our poor dog, who very sadly had to be put to sleep in November 2022 by our vet just before his 4th birthday as they could no longer treat his genetic medical conditions. During his lifetime he had to have surgery for Grade 4 patella luxation in both of his back legs (at 6 months old), then he suffered from Ehlors Danlos syndrome which our vet said is genetic and very rare in dogs. This meant his skin got thinner and thinner and tore and injured so easily until the vet could no longer stitch him back together. Our poor dog had a lifetime of medication and constant trips to the vets and thank god someone told me to get a decent level of insurance when we bought him as we had cover of £10,000 per year and he used that up every year of his life and then some. So if you decide to ignore this review please dont ignore this last bit - get high levels of insurance cover as you will most probably need it. Do your research (and not just the good reviews that James allows to be on the internet as they remove any negative or truthful reviews from their website). Write a negative comment in their Facebook group and watch as it 'disappears' and the person who commented is blocked. This is all true (I have screenshots to prove this happens) and is the reason that I thought they were great when doing my research before buying a puppy but now know the truth - this is a very cleverly marketed puppy farm that has been in operation for years. There are a very small number who are lucky to buy a puppy with no medical issues, and then there are the rest of us whose dogs have constant medical issues until it costs them their lives, as it cost my poor dog yesterday .( this extract written 23/11/2022)

After finding out Humphries poos is related to ‘Raffles’ which was closed down, there are lots of suggestions it was a puppy farm, I had asked James to kindly return my deposit. He has since ignored my messages. I do understand the terms of the deposit state they’re none refundable however after seeing the reviews on Raffles, we couldn’t look past this and purchase a puppy from Humphries poos. James seems a nice guy however I personally don’t trust the business. Videos of the pup, were in a small play pen and one was sent with the ‘mum’ who didn’t look to interact with the puppies too well. No sound on the videos which I thought was quite odd as you can’t tell how the puppies are being interacted with. I couldn’t fully trust this business. We also spoke with James ‘vet’ directly to try and validate this company. He filled us with even more suspicion of the organisation.

Our dog Alfie has grown now into an 11month old puppy and he is absolutely amazing. He slept from the first night with no issues, he is calm, loving and very obedient. We have trained him in several ways. It was tough going for the first 3 months resulting in us having Alfie neutered, as he was very frustrated in that department. It has helped him massively. He is calmer at night, able to settle and relax with the family.
These breeds require a good walk and exercise - give them an outdoors based exercise routine and it will pay dividends. Well done to James and co for breeding such an amazing dog. Alfie is perfect in every way.

I began corresponding with James in the fall of 2022, after a friend had received a puppy from this breeder years before. James answered all my questions and I finally picked my puppy in January. We picked up our girl, named Haley, in late February and have been so happy with her in our lives. She is beautiful and has a great personality!

As first time buyers of a puppy we were a bit wary of making a mistake. When we saw Humphries online they have a very comprehensive website.

On visiting the pup for the first time James and his team were very helpful, informative and clearly very knowledgeable about the breads they deal with.

I think it’s fair to say that Humphries is a larger breeder than some others out there but we only saw positive indication of responsible and highly certified practices.

Between first meeting and collection James at Humphries was very helpful with providing guidance, information and photos.

On collection we found our new pup settled in increadibly well (slept well, ate well, very friendly and placid towards our kids and didn’t suffer from any separation anxiety at all)

We have now had our puppy for 4 months and he is happy, healthy and very easy to manage.

It is a real shame to see negative reviews for Humphries as we would highly recommend them

Very helpful when we were looking for our dog and in deciding which one to choose. All the puppies seemed happy and well We now have the most adorable dog who has the best nature. I would and have recommended to others

Very happy with our experience at Humphries. James was helpful and responsive throughout the process from first enquiry through to collection. We visited our pup twice and saw the whole litter with mum. Our pup is happy and healthy and has been a dream since day 1.
