I find making my own compost extremely satisfying and the Hotbin makes it easy to do and much faster than traditional methods. I am happy to be putting much of my food waste and garden clippings to good use. I recommend a Hotbin!

Compost good enough for garden mulch but not for potting.

On woodchip: totally hear you. If buying it’s pricey, many customers add their own cut up prunings and have luck sourcing woodchip cheaper/free from local tree surgeons, garden services, or community compost sites. Mixing in (ripped up egg boxes and toilet roll tubes) shredded cardboard/paper can help stretch what you have.
On the door fastening: the straps should pull tight if you hold the buckle and pull the strap at the same time. There are some helpful tips and work arounds on our YouTube channel.
You’re spot on about potting: HOTBIN compost is brilliant as mulch and a general purpose soil improver, but for pots/seed you can blended with other growing media rather than used on its own.

The best hotbin around
A very well made hotbin, recommended to be by a friend. I would also buy the pedestal so access to the liquid fertiliser is effortless.
Delivery was very quick too.

Hot bin, the rapid, good quality composter.
The hot bin is very quick at producing good compost.
In addition, and probably more importantly, I receive a ready and plentiful supply of liquid manure which I find very useful.

Now my third hotbin in use
Now my third hotbin in use. I'm now more picky about what goes in. We're lucky to live in the countryside and have supply of wood dust and shred our paper, to balance the 'wet' household waste. Think carefully about your commitment to producing lovely compost - it isn't magic....

Thanks for the brilliant review and wow, a third HOTBIN in use, you can never have enough black gold! You’re absolutely right: the “recipe” matters, and balancing wetter kitchen waste with dry browns (carbon) like shredded paper (and wood chips) makes all the difference to keep the bacterial happy. Good to buy when there's an offer on
We'd been after a hotbin of some description for a while and finally decided to go with the mid-sized hotbin when a deal became available.
The purchasing was straightforward, delivery in a reasonable timeframe and despite not being heavy, assisted into the house by the courier .. thank you.
When checked over, everything was there, and the instructions seem ok. We've not set it up yet, a bit busy this time of year, but I have no doubt everything will work as it should. My only concern, and I should have realised this when purchasing, is that the hotbin is of polystyrene construction. Fingers crossed it doesn't deteriorate or get damaged.

We’re really pleased to hear the ordering process was straightforward, delivery was on time, and the courier helped bring it inside (that’s always a bonus)!
Totally understand your hesitation about the polystyrene construction. But don't worry HOTBIN is made from tough, insulated expanded polypropylene (EPP), chosen specifically because it’s durable and built to live outdoors year-round while keeping the heat in for hot composting. With normal use it the bin doesn't deteriorate, just don't get too close with thee garden strimmer ;-)

If you haven’t already done so we’d advise taking the internal temperature of the HOTBIN as there can be up to a 20-degree difference between the lid and internal thermometer and you may find the HOTBIN is hotter that you think.

The HOTBIN can take time to achieve hot composting temperatures and does need to be a least half full to give the bacteria and food source and get them active and producing heat.
However, if the internal temperature is below 40°c the waste will still be breaking down quicker in a warmer environment than traditional composting methods.

Amazing product

Great service - however DPD was not as efficient as hoped!! They claimed they had tried to deliver twice, when in fact we were home both times, we contacted your company highlighting this, and due to the operator’s efficiency this was resolved very quickly and smoothly.

Love my hotbin! It's been -2'c outside but my bin has been hitting 55'c and is absolutely chomping through my food waste, clippings and rabbit bedding. Looking forward to opening it up in another month or so 😁. Great product from hotbin composting and excellent service. Speedy delivery.
