Really great hire experience (as always)
Highly recommended. I have been hiring from Hire a Camera for years; for all sorts of projects and all sorts of equipment. Staff on the phone are always lovely, helpful and committed to great service…a broad and up to date range of kit, always in excellent condition…not always the cheapest, but worth it for peace of mind and the best service out there.

Hireacamera were excellent
Hireacamera made the whole process of hiring a camera so easy. Amazingly fast in answering questions and setting up the account - they even arranged for the camera and lens to arrive early no extra charge. Both camera and lens were as described and allowed my to capture some excellent shots. Would highly recommend using Hireacamera - I will be booking with them again.

Protected Themselves, Not the Customer
I understand that a rental company needs to protect its equipment. However, before increasing deposits, questioning customers’ insurance, and requiring them to purchase additional cover, they should first make sure they can actually provide the service people are paying for. In my experience, they seemed far better prepared to protect themselves from potential customer mistakes than to take responsibility when their own delivery system failed.
When I rented from them for the first time, they accepted my own private insurance without any issue. However, when I made a second booking, they questioned the same insurance again. After repeatedly providing documents and trying several ways to resolve the issue, I eventually had to purchase additional insurance through the provider they recommended.
The equipment was sent by overnight delivery, but the most important item — the camera itself — did not arrive, even though I needed it for a shoot the following day. When I contacted customer service, I was told that this was because I had submitted my insurance documents late.
That explanation made very little sense. Even if I had submitted the documents earlier, would they have sent the equipment before the agreed rental date? Obviously not. The responsibility for getting the equipment to me on time should not have been shifted onto me simply because their delivery failed.
Fortunately, I live relatively close to the courier depot. I had to go there myself early in the morning before work and pay for a taxi out of my own pocket just to collect the camera in time for the shoot. If I had lived further away, I may simply have been unable to use the equipment at all.
At the time, I had several overlapping rentals for different projects, so they had also taken a significantly larger deposit from me. They were clearly very thorough when it came to protecting themselves financially against the possibility of equipment being lost or damaged by a customer. Yet when their own shipment failed to arrive, there seemed to be no comparable system for compensating or protecting the customer.
The insurance situation made this even more frustrating. I repeatedly provided evidence that my own insurance covered rented equipment, but I was still pushed into purchasing the additional insurance they recommended. Yet if their equipment failed to arrive and I could not use it at all, the insurance premium would still not be refunded because the policy was provided by a separate company.
So the customer is expected to provide a large deposit, purchase additional insurance, and accept responsibility for almost every possible risk involving the equipment. But when the company fails to deliver the equipment you have actually paid to rent, the inconvenience, additional costs, and consequences are apparently left to the customer.
A rental company cannot demand this level of protection from its customers while having so little protection in place for customers when its own service fails.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry for the stress and frustration you experienced ahead of your shoot. We completely understand how vital it is to have your gear on time for your shoot, and we apologise that the delivery process fell short of expectations.
We would like to clarify a few details regarding the timeline and our security protocols to help explain what happened behind the scenes:
The Insurance & Deposit: Your second order was placed just before midnight on the 9th for high-value equipment. Because this order overlapped with your original rental, your total order value with us increased significantly. Due to this high total value, our security team required an increased deposit and an insurance policy in place. Additionally, because the private insurance policy you originally provided was international, our team was unfortunately unable to fully verify it before the immediate dispatch deadline, which is why the alternative cover was required.
Delivery Timeline: Because the order was placed during the evening of the 9th, our team had no opportunity to send the items early meaning the goods were dispatched on the 10th for overnight delivery on the 11th. We always aim to dispatch orders early, when possible, to create a buffer for courier delays. The tight turnaround time prevented us from doing so in this instance. We discussed this risk with you during our call on the 10th, advising that there would be no time for an alternative solution if the courier faced delays, and you chose to proceed with the booking on that basis.
The Courier Issue: Once in transit, the courier unfortunately held one of your three packages at their hub. As soon as we noticed the delay, our team contacted the courier to upgrade your shipment to a pre-10:30 am delivery slot. However, when we spoke with you, you mentioned needing to leave for your shoot before that time and asked if we could redirect the package.
The Depot Solution: Security regulations strictly prevent us from changing a delivery address once a high-value package is already in transit. Because we did not have another duplicate camera body available to send, and you preferred not to use a different alternative body, we organised for the courier to hold the camera at your local depot for immediate morning collection. We are glad you were able to collect the camera early the next morning in time for your shoot, but we regret that you had to take a taxi and experience that morning stress.
We always want our customers to feel secure when hiring from us, and your feedback regarding how we handle courier delays has been passed directly to our management team to help us improve our service. Hire A Camera helped me rent a Nikon z6ii body for a weekend event. Their service was friendly and professional, and the camera gear was in top condition, all delivered on time and in an easy to understand package.
I really appreciated the staff giving me a call to go through the rental and insurance detail over the phone. It was great to speak with a human about what I needed, and how I should expect the delivery.
They really went above and beyond when it came to the equipment bundle - I received spare batteries, a charger, USB cables, f-mount adapter, SD card, card reader, and a few other items I didn't need but were nice to be included.
