Support offered too late to make a difference
We enrolled onto this training programme with the hope of supporting a move into a new career path, and initially the experience was positive.
However, as the course progressed, it became clear that the level of support needed for someone who was struggling was not put in place early enough. There were multiple occasions where the pass mark was narrowly missed, yet additional support (including one-to-one guidance) was only offered towards the final stages of the programme, at which point it was too late to make a meaningful difference.
Whilst we appreciate that there are deadlines and structure within the bootcamp, it is disappointing that more proactive support was not provided earlier, particularly given how close the results were on several attempts.
Communication was generally good, and staff were polite and responsive, however the overall experience has left us feeling that the programme is better suited to those who can pass within the standard timeframe, rather than those who may need a more structured level of support along the way.
We have invested a significant amount of time and money into this process, so the final outcome is understandably disappointing.

Our programmes are designed with clear structure and expectations, including a strong emphasis on learners taking ownership of their theory test preparation. We recommend a minimum of 40 hours of independent study, as this level of commitment is typically required to achieve success. Where learners are unable to dedicate this time, it can impact outcomes despite the support available.
That said, we do provide a range of support mechanisms throughout the programme, including additional resources and adaptations for learners who may require them, such as voice-supported materials for those with learning differences. We continually review how and when support is offered to ensure it is both timely and effective.
We value your feedback regarding earlier intervention and will take this into account as part of our ongoing improvement. Thank you again for sharing your experience.
Cat D test passed first time! Thanks Karl!
I hugely benefitted from Karl Barham’s expert tuition and passed my Cat D test first time! Karl took me from feeling completely unsure I would be able to get to grips with controlling a bus to feeling confident that I could safely manoeuvre one through pretty tight spaces. Karl’s style of teaching is relaxed (although he doesn’t miss a thing in your driving and the road ahead!) and thoroughly enjoyable. He combines humour with just the right amount of instruction that you need at any given moment.
I would highly recommend Karl to anybody thinking of getting their D License. You’ll be in very good hands.

Great training provided
Great training provided, clear training with a great foundation for myself to become an assessor. Course material was well laid out and structured with clear goals. Johnathan was very courteous and delivered the training to a very high standard.

PCV practical driving test passed first time after 20 hours training with Karl Barham.
Although an absolute font of knowledge and experience, Karl made every driving lesson a joy to take part in.
Relaxed and funny in his manner, he has an uncanny knack to foresee just what’s around every corner and predict just how other road users will react when they see a big yellow bus with L plates on!

PCV training above and beyond
I have recently undertaken a PCV training programme with Karl Barham at Carousel Buses, High Wycombe. Suffice to say the quality of training was excellent. Karl goes above and beyond to ensure you’re not just trained to test standard, but able to withstand the highest of pressure situations driving a large vehicle as well as passing on excellent roadcraft to his students. I greatly enjoyed my training and have lessons to take with me every day in service going forwards. Thank you Karl!

We had problems from the start
We had problems from the start with dates, training being cancelled/moved and not being notified and long times between tests/training with no communication despite sending emails.
Would not use this company again.
