Great professionalism, excellent communication with the staff

I rented a car in Volos for 1 day, and discovered the outrageous amount they had charged me for a scratch when already in Skiathos. Their business model seems to rely on deposit exploitation: they charged me €400 for a scratch on the bumper. At first, the €800 deposit seemed excessive, but now it makes sense—if they charge €400 to fix a scratch, they would need at least €800 to cover a real damage.

When I tried to address this, I was met with hostile and unprofessional behavior. As no one would give me any answer by phone (“only by mail”), I went to the Skiathos office. There, an older staff member:

• Laughed at me,
• Threatened to call the police (which he never did, despite my offering the tourist police number),
• Then ignored me entirely.

Another worker offered to check for me, and told me to return later. When I came back, she was not there, and I was met with the same dismissive attitude from the same older staff member.

To the staff member who treated me this way: 35 years in business should mean more than bullying tactics. Basic communication and empathy are not optional. I hope this review serves as a warning to others.

Never again.

Very bad they gave us 20 year old car

This review is valid only for the Greenmotion rental office in Volos as my booking did not mention other companies. Everything was perfect and the local manager was very friendly, despite we were a bit late.

Dishonest car hire company in Skiathos town, Greece with dangerous deposit process, and may be a "new car", if you havn't booked a good deal on few website like "Economy car Rentals", otherwise🤣🤣, good luck, you will get what you have paid: Cheap price/ cheap old model!
The Young guy who checked the car with me even said to me: "Your Ferrari is ready".

I Rental on the other island Dkopelos with another supplier, and got a brain new car, with no debit of the deposit 1000€!!

If you book through an online platform Economy Car Rental, make sure to check whether a deposit is required with this supplier because in that case, Hellenic Rentals – instead of placing a pre-authorisation hold on your credit card, as every car hire company worldwide does, will debit your card directly at pick-up.
Hope your Account have enough🤣.
In my case, it was over €1,000.

What’s more, they debited my account in my own currency instead of Euros incurring additional bank charges of €80 in currency conversion fees, plus overseas transaction fees charged by both their bank and mine, for a 3-day hire costing €69 – bringing the total of my Rental to €150 for 3 days.

The rental company denied having done this when the platform wrote to them asking for an explanation, but my bank sent me the official statement for this borderline ‘fraudulent’ transaction, which I forwarded to the platform to justify my dissatisfaction.
A security deposit is taken for a direct debit card ONLY.
Never for a credit card! In this case, a pre-authorisation must be carried.
What’s more, on the day I collected the car, the member of staff told me that I had to return it with the fuel tank at the same level as when I collected it.
The only problem was that there was a discrepancy between my photo of the fuel level when I set off and the document on which ‘FULL’ was noted upon return – a document of which I was not given a copy.
I did sign the document, but the word ‘FULL’ was not visible on it at the time. I pointed this out to the owner on my return, but he couldn’t care less.
I also provided evidence to the booking platform and supplier with my photos taken on the day and at the time of collection.
My contract confirmation on Economy Car Rental platform specified ‘FULL/FULL’ on the day of the booking.
It is unacceptable that the rental company did not top up the fuel tank before the hire.
Just go to an other professional, to avoid such surprise.
Hellenic Rentals, never room contact with me to refund the 80€ debited by their mistake.

If you need an old car, at double price cost, that's the place to go🤣.

Had a fantastic experience at Hellenic. We hired a quad bike for 2 weeks and the price was reasonable, service was fab and we even got a lift to the airport ! We will be back next year . Would highly recommend
