Successful treatment
I went to Health First in the Summer with Plantar Fasciitis and Jonathan was so thorough with his assessment. He then explained all that was happening to my foot and the treatment that was required. After the sessions, I had gone from excruciating pain all the time to a slight twinge first thing in the morning, then all is fine. Yes, there was a cost for the treatment but your feet are the ‘roots’ of your body and need to be cherished. I was very happy with the care I received.

Heel Pain......SORTED
I had developed heel pain in one heel during the summer and despite spending a considerable sum of money on different off the shelf insoles, 2 pairs of new shoes and seeing another podiatrist I was still no closer to getting rid of the pain which was getting progressively worse.
After conducting some research I contacted Health First and spoke with Jonathan Small, the lead Podiatrist who was very understanding and booked an appointment for me.
I was encouraged to read all the paperwork forwarded to me and if I needed any further information I only needed to ask. It's worth taking the time to read the paperwork as there's lots of information contained within it. There's also loads of information on the website which is very useful and what first attracted me to Health First.
Long story short, after the initial thorough consultation, options were explained and discussed, a plan was agreed on and after just a few treatments I am pain free. My only regret, I wish I'd found Health First earlier and saved time AND money.
Jonathan, thank you for sorting my heel out.

Good Service but Hidden Fees and Lack of Transparency
I had a session treatment at Health First Foot & Gait Clinic for some pain I was experiencing, which I thought might be related to my right foot. While I recognize their expertise and the service they provided, I encountered several charges that were not clearly explained during my visit, which left me feeling frustrated.
For example, I was billed for a 'Facilities Fee' (£22.50) on top of a 'Clinic Registration Fee' (£30). While I understand the need for a registration fee—common in many places—the additional charge for using their "facilities" felt excessive and unnecessary.
Additionally, the charges for 'Insole Measurement,' 'Foot Size Templating,' and 'Pair of Chairside Insoles (Complex)' amounted to a total of £75. These fees, while seemingly related to the same purpose, felt redundant, and it was unclear why they were split this way.
Altogether, the total cost exceeded my expectations (it was expensive, £££). I later searched their website for clarification on billing practices but couldn't find detailed terms and conditions that would justify or explain these charges.
I recommend that Health First improve transparency by providing clear, upfront information about their fees and billing procedures, either during the appointment or on their website. This would help patients make more informed decisions and avoid the surprise of such unexpected costs.

This review says a lot about you that you should leave it on Xmas day where we celebrate goodwill to all men! We are not sure what has prompted you to leave this 3 months after we saw you, and for you not to tell the whole truth in the review. Our charges are fully transparent as detailed in our New Patient Letter that you signed that you had read and understood in advance of you seeing us. It clearly states our range of fees and you signed acceptance of those, and you were charged within that range. So if you want to be on Santa's NICE list next year, you will have to be more honest with others. You could just have contacted us to ask about our facilities fee at any time, which was introduced to reflect the cost of small business crisis that clearly has not registered with you.
It's a shame Santa didnt give you some reading glasses as our website is full of informative blogs on costs of treating feet and a variety of conditions that affect these essential pats of our anatomy. Just because you don't want to invest in keeping yours trouble free, does not mean that thousands of others don't. After all, we only get one pair of feet and they cannot be replaced so educate yourself by reading these blogs (amongst our many others):

We can only assume that you were on Santa's NAUGHTY list (which is fully understandable when you try to vindictively damage a successful and longstanding business) so that he didn't bring you what you wanted and you have chosen to take your frustration out on us. We are sorry if that happened but you do get from the world what you put out to the world.
Fortunately Santa appreciates us looking after everyone's feet and pops in himself once a year to visit us. So as with all our many satisfied patients who we keep mobile and pain-free, we will wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Life Saving Visit
An appointment to sort out a corn turned into a life saving visit to Health First in Southam.
When Jonathan Small the Podiatrist examined my feet he noticed some unusual pigmentation on one of my toes. He questioned me about it, but was not happy with what he was seeing.
Jonathan took some images of the subject toe and said that with my permission he would write to my GP and attach the images.
Some six months later and following numerous visits to my GP and Hospital finally resulting in a biopsy, I was given the news that I had a rare type of skin cancer.
Acral lentiginous melanoma is found mainly in people with dark skin and is normally fatal due to it going undetected, Jonathan’s diligence and care has possibly saved my life.
My corn was treated and sorted out and I am scheduled to have the melonoma surgically removed in the next few weeks.
I cannot thank Jonathan enough for his diligence, professionalism and care.

Very disappointing service
Very disappointing. Grade A soon went to Grade D. Invoiced for significant sums of money that had not been mentioned in surgery appointment on 25th July. Felt bullied in to payment. Tried to reach a resolution. Only met with repeated demands for payment.

You decided to steal £82.50 from our business by not paying for treatment of a different foot condition separate to your surgery package even though you had signed consent to it. You arrogantly walked out when our receptionist asked for payment, and you have subsequently lied to avoid paying what is due. We have repeatedly explained why the fee is due together with examples of other services you pay for elsewhere to help you understand. You have now left this review because we have started debt collection procedures against you. Thieving is not acceptable behaviour at our business and you are no longer welcome here.
Of note today, we received a special personalised thank you gift from another patient for the high level of care we gave him that ultimately saved his life, so good luck to you in finding another foot person who will carry out your required care with such due diligence.
Expert Knowledge
I recently visited Health First Foot and Gait Clinic. The reception was warm and welcoming, and I was thoroughly impressed with the expert knowledge and care I received.
Jonathan provided a thorough examination, and quickly diagnosed a complaint that I had been suffering with for years.
I was delighted that the care plan was a success and would highly recommend Health First for anyone in need of foot care.

Have used health first for two unrelated serious foot issues. On both occasions the identification of the issue was immediate, precise and a completely understandable. Dermal Filler Injections
Having a troublesome corn between my toes was causing discomfort and having to wear a foam protector with all my footwear. Looking forward to sandal season and do not want to have to wear a protector and so decided on a dermal filler injection to sort this corn out!
I’m very pleased I have had the injection. Only a small amount of discomfort having the local anaesthetic to numb the area. I did not have any problems once the anaesthetic wore off. Would totally recommend this procedure offered by Health First. Very quick and painless. Kate H.

Underhand Pricing - they don't tell you upfront
Ask to see the price list BEFORE you have treatment because they won't give a cost breakdown up front. It cost me £690 for less than hour's treatment on my ingrown toenail! I'm 19 and this bill was a big shock especially as it was just after Christmas. They have had complaints about lack of fee transparency before and still do not give a breakdown of the cost of your treatment before they ask for consent. When I questioned the invoice, they were very patronising and told me I should have asked for the price beforehand. It's the first time I've been to a podiatrist, I had no idea it would be that expensive! I guess it has taught me a life lesson, don't expect people to be trustworthy before you engage their services. I would not recommend this practice.

This review expresses my opinion of my experience of Health First Southam. There is nothing malicious or vindictive in my review, it merely reflects the facts as they occurred and the threat of legal action is surprising.
I am pleased to say that after my official complaint to Health First they have responded by saying:
"We do accept constructive feedback and going forwards intend to make all patients aware of the costs of any additional procedure whether they ask for or require the information or not."
This means that no future patients will have the same problem as me, which is why I posted the review in the first place, and so I am very pleased about this.

As you know full well there was nothing underhand about our pricing and we have improved all our systems to be completely transparent following previous feedback. You were advised verbally and in writing that the surgery package cost was not included in the initial appointment fee and consented for us to proceed with the surgery you requested. We permanently solved your problem promptly to relieve you of ongoing pain and you then complained about having to pay for it, and left a 1-star review as a thank you for the high level of professional care you received. No Podiatrist, surgeon, dentist etc. includes surgery as part of the initial assessment. I'm sorry you hadn't learnt about that before attending, nor from all our informative documentation provided. We have checked with other children younger than you and they have confirmed that they would not expect the fee to be included. Indeed they also confirmed that they realised private healthcare was not cheap. Its a shame that your response to our high level of care is such vindictiveness towards us on a review site that we dont have many reviews on, compared to our 95 Google reviews rated at 4.9/5.
We note that you have now (over a week later) amended your review to attack our trustworthiness as well which is quite frankly ridiculous and just reflects on your maliciousness as you didnt want to pay for the prompt and effective resolution of your foot problem with the solution that you chose for yourself. We have been in business over 30 years and helped many thousands of patients. Just last year we were awarded "Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Most Trusted Clinic Award for the West Midlands" which isn't handed out lightly. You clearly have taken your situation out of all context and are now on a hate campaign against our clinic. If this continues then we will take appropriate legal action against you. We are sorry that it has come to this.
You have amended your review another week later, and yet again not given full information. You chose to receive a 5-star service that resolved your foot problem permanently, then leave a 1-star for us because you didnt want to pay for the service received despite being offered the opportunity to go through our complaints procedure. You failed to take any responsibility for your decisions and actions even though you acknowledged we did confirm additional costs for surgery. After that review, you then submitted your complaint and again showed that you weren't willing to take that responsibility. Indeed you admitted that you made assumptions on costs instead of asking for that information despite all the opportunities provided for you to do so. We investigated to confirm that all our procedures had been followed correctly, which they had. However we realised that to deal with any future patients like you who try to destroy the good reputation of a 30-year old business with thousands of satisfied customers, that it was worth tweaking our procedures. Unfortunately you still havent taken any responsibility and our tweaks can't be applied retrospectively to someone who happily takes a 5-star service for their own benefit and reviews it as 1-star to deny others the permanent help for their foot-related problems.
Horribly expensive..
Horribly expensive...I was not told that the fee would be £117 - for what?? Some sort of initial assessment. I came away determined NEVER to go again. He did nothing useful except provide the name of a foot surgeon that I could have found for myself.

We are puzzled why it has taken you 14 months from the date we saw you to when you left your review, and why you have chosen to be untruthful in it. We understand that life can be difficult for some people (esepcially this year with the cost of living crisis) and that they choose their keyboard to voice their frustration at any easy target, often ignoring facts and truths but choosing to be disingenuous instead.
You were provided with full details of our fees highlighted and underlined in writing in advance of your appointment, and you signed acceptance of those, and chose to come to our clinic. You saw our Lead Podiatrist who has over 30 years experience and he shared his extensive knowledge with you regarding the multiple foot problems you presented with. He carried out indepth podiatric vascular, dermatological, and orthopaedic foot assessments which would have cost you a considerable amount more had you seen different Consultants for those. All suitable treatment options were discussed with you, and you were advised on how to avoid wasted expense on ineffective ones and how to reduce ongoing costs of private foot care.
In our experience, some people choose not to value their feet yet would happily spend more on their hair. We wish you well with your feet and health in the future.
Unethical charging practises
Cannot fault the expertise, but I would never go back because the scale of charges is not transparent. You must read the initial charging procedure very carefully. You will have to have at least an initial assessment and a more expensive follow up. Also you will be charged through the nose for suggested products without being told until the bill arrives. I am more than happy to pay for expertise, but not when I don’t know upfront.

If you went to a private hospital for treatment of a health problem, or to a vet for treatment of your pet, would you call them "unethical" for solving your problem within their advertised fees and sending you an invoice to pay?
We always strive for the most cost-effective solution to foot-related problems, and save our patients £100s on unnecessary treatments they may pay for elsewhere.
The expertise you said you couldn't fault hasn't been achieved without serious investment in our knowledge, skills, and equipment. Our fees openly reflect that and enable us to deliver the highest levels of care to our patients.
