Unbiased and honest opinion as a first time attendee
This is an unpaid review and totally unbiased. I'm an individual with no previous history/link to this company. My name is Yash and I attended their Event on Cardiff , Golf Fang a few days ago. The event promised a lot of things , with how their application form was and how their reviews seemed I expected a lot from the grouping/matching event.
For context the venue was perfect the staff were amazing but the event overall was far off from what advertised. I'm a 20 year old and I got matched into groups with 28-30 year olds when their advertisement says age inclusive. It wasn't just me , a few more people on the venue complained about this as well. I understand that it's hard to keep it age inclusive but I emailed them regarding it a day before asking if it's possible and if not I wouldn't book a ticket. Got no reply as expected.
I played golf and just went home , no one wanted to talk to me and overall I felt alienated because of my age which was counter inclusive to what this event was supposed to be.
Overall a waste of £32. You can attend normal golf fang events for less than £20 . This was more like paying for a brand rather than promised service.
Would not recommend, their advertisement seems to target lonely people for a reason.

I am so, so, so sorry we missed your email the day before, the team were busy matching but I totally hear that this annoying and we’re really sorry again for that. We’re working hard to get a WhatsApp set up soon so we can be more rapid with responses, especially before event days and promise we’re always doing our best to get back to everyone. Regarding age inclusivity, we just took a quick look through the ticket data for your group, the average age was mid 20s but on speaking to the reps on the night it sounds like people moved groups a fair bit which we always encourage people not to do! We’re in Cardiff again next year, if you’d like to pop us an email, we can check the age data for you right up until the event and if it’s not the best fit for you we can let you know right away. We’ve marked your email as a “safe sender” so it 100% comes through to us and we really can’t apologise enough again. RE no-one speaking to you this is shocking and very upsetting to read, we have raised this with our reps to make sure no-one ever has an interaction like that again. Thank you so much for taking the time to feedback, we genuinely really appreciate it and we are here if there is anything else at all we could do. x
Don’t waste your money. 30 pounds no free drinks, staff just stood around and drank, music was way too loud for anyone to hear anything.

Camille hey, it’s Lucy here the founder of Haystack. I am so so sorry to hear you didn’t have a great experience with us, this is the opposite of how I’d ever want anyone to feel after one of my events.
I can see your ticket was for London Bridge on September 26th so I called the team directly who worked the event to understand exactly what’s gone on here.
Music: our live musician was apparently awesome but definitely too loud and the team did their best to get this turned down as soon as is possible. I am really sorry this made things difficult to hear, we’ve taken the feedback on board and will stay way closer to make sure it never happens again.
Staff: the Haystack rule is that neither me nor any of my staff are meant to drink until the shift is finished which at every event I’ve run to date we’ve stood by. The event lead for the 26th has flagged we had someone on trial who broke this and will no longer be working with us. We did have 3 other amazing members of staff working that evening who were running around doing their best but again I am really sorry this was the impression left. My team are genuinely amazing!
On the free drink, a lot of our guests don’t drink so we choose to invest ticket revenue into staff, entertainment and tech instead.
If you wanted to send over an email I would love to have you back to an event as my guest, come meet you personally, introduce you to the team and do everything we can to make sure you have a great experience with us. I am really really sorry again you didn’t this time and would really like to show you how great we can be!

Avoid!
I went to their first event in Manchester back in April and it was really good, but this second one felt like there was no real thought or consideration of value for money for the customer. The ratio of men to women was off, more women, I feel short changed and it’s not what it claims to be. The staff left after two hours. What sort of event is this and where’s the safety management. Just avoid

I’m so happy to hear you had an awesome time at the first event in Manchester and really sorry we didn’t live up to expectations this time.
I’ve just taken a look at the data, the tickets sold ration was 1-1.8 but we had a few men not show up which I totally appreciate is annoying.
In terms of value, we had really good feedback about the electric shuffle experience and please know we put a huge amount of love and time into the matching and everything we do.
Please do always email the team if you were ever to have anything less than an amazing experience with us, we would always really really want to help and again I am so sorry it wasn’t perfect this time around, we always want everyone to have an amazing experience.
I wasn’t at the event but I heard from the team that they left you guys in the hands of the awesome Electric shuffle staff around 9pm as everyone had been matched, was enjoying the games and having a good time. I’ve made a note to make sure we stay a little longer next time and speak to every person individually before leaving to make sure everyones feeling settled.
If there’s any other feedback please genuinely do let us know, we’re trying our best to build the best business for everyone and next time we’re back in Manchester I’ve made a note to pop you an email to have you to the event as my guest if you’d be up for joining us again.

Not exactly what it claims to be
It's a nice idea and I might even give another event a try but lets be clear it isn't what it claims to be on the tin. Lets look at the key claims:
"Our algorithm will match you up with a group of people you have something in common with".
I don't like to be negative but I seriously doubt there is an algorithm anywhere near this. The questions you are sent before hand are paper thin and consist of some random nonsense like would you like to meet Ant and Dec. You could clearly see the small number of organisers quickly using the sort function on a spreadsheet to try and create new groups during the event. Hardly a high tech dating service.
"Our staff will be wandering the event matching people and helping out". While there where a couple of people wandering the event, they seemed far to busy filming clips and posting on social media about the event to actual run the event. I understand that they need to sell tickets to maintain a business but I quickly got the impression that they weren't as interested in us once we were in the door.
"We don't just shove you in a room and leave you too it". Well yeah they very much do and that is were the honesty needs to come in. If you want to go to a singles event that is just a large group of people crowded together in a room, then these events are perfectly fine but that is all they are. All of the Instagram vibes and sparkle making out they are more than that is just that and nothing more.
It is a real shame because I feel like if they actually did all of the things they claim they do these could be really excellent but at the moment they are just expensive versions of a Thursday event.
As for the stuff a lot of the one star reviewers have said, well yes I agree I saw similar things happen during the event but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt an assume the scam edge to the whole thing wasn't intentional.

We have a lot of Ben’s in the ticket data so it’s difficult for me to distinguish which event you went to and I’m really sorry you didn’t have a good experience, that’s the opposite of what I’d ever want for anyone!
We introduce everyone to a group as they come in, if for whatever reason the team weren’t able to this time please pop me an email with which event you were at and I’ll look into what went on? On reps, we only ever have one on social media and the algorithm is tech we’re super proud to have built. Anyone being added into groups last minute are people who purchased tickets post 4pm as the data would have been run already and sheets printed.
If you’d be up for popping over an email I’d really really like to look into this further for you, hear you out properly and if you’d be up for it offer you a comped ticket to the next event so I can some say hey in person, introduce you to the team and make sure you have an amazing experience this time?

A women-founded and powered dating business, yay!
It's actually embarrassing how quick we are to jump on a bandwagon of tearing female founded business owners down. People should be ashamed of themselves. Haystack is a company founded by a cancer survivor who experienced horrendous online trolling and converted it into a mission to make accessible products and events for everyone. The events are created from a place of love; they are fun, empowering and growing (rightly so). Note to anyone reading; negative regurgitated comments about women or women founded business tend to lack context and are part of a patriarchal obsession with tearing women down, often by other women. Go team Haystack, keep doing what you're doing :)
