We used Halfords Mobile Tyres on 25 July to replace the two rear tyres on my wife's Mercedes CLS, at a cost of £457.76.

The fitter, Chris, left a black plastic Halfords wheel chock underneath one of the front wheels. We were unaware it was there and, when the car was subsequently moved, the chock shattered beneath the wheel.

We cleared up the broken pieces, not realising that the sharp plastic had damaged the inner shoulder of the front tyre.

Fortunately, the car was due a service and MOT with Mercedes shortly afterwards. During their inspection, Mercedes found that the damage had exposed the cords in the tyre to a dangerous level, making it an MOT failure and requiring immediate replacement.

Because the damage was on the inside shoulder, it was not readily visible. Had the car not been due its service, my wife could easily have continued driving on a dangerously damaged tyre without knowing. The potential consequences of a blowout at speed are obvious.

The replacement tyre cost us approximately another £200.

So, having paid Halfords £457.76 to replace two tyres, their fitter's failure to remove a wheel chock ultimately cost us a third tyre and, far more seriously, left my wife driving a car with a dangerously damaged front tyre.

Competitive price for replacement battery plus fitting. Easy to book, early appointment, worked completed on my drive. Mechanic (Tyler, who also fitted 4 tyres recently) was excellent. Notification of arrival time, very efficient and very polite and friendly. He explained the process and answered several other questions about Halfords Mobile service. All round, an excellent service. I would happily recommend.

on the 18th July I ordered 2 tyres for fitting on 20th July having tried unsuccessful twice before. This time I got to payment and agreed for Halfords to receive £333.48 from my credit card and from then on there was no response from Halfords as if it was a Fraud. I eventually attempted to put a stop on the payment, which remained on my account as pending until after the fitting date on the 20th which Halfords never attended. I have written twice to Halfords head office at B98 0DE ,the last one for the attention of the CEO Henry Birch for an explanation before I contact Report Fraud. However to date there has been no reply from Halfords which is very unprofessional .Maybe this post might gain a meaningful response before I consider reporting to the authorities.

Ordered tyres £700) for a classic car to be fitted Sunday 2nd August. Arranged to stay in as it was an all day appointment. Fitter called Colin called at 8am requesting information which was not specified in the booking confirmation and which was impossible to find without speaking to the dealer. He clearly didn't want to be bothered to come out on a Sunday, was worse than useless, so actually I would not want him near my car, and when I said forget it, the timing transpired that he was cancelling the order his end before I confirmed to do so!!!
I made a complaint but they closed it without responding.
A shambles and a shower.
Called KwikFit. Could not have been more helpful and they were cheaper!!

HAVING RECEIVED A REPLY FROM HALFORDS - it sounds all very nice but from my experience of your online contact us - 404 page; telephone - rude and uninterested; online chat - very pleasant but not resolved, it is all words and waffle at best and unhelpful at worst.
I had such an exceptional experience with Kwik Fit I shall be using them in future.

Booked a mobile tyre repair service. The technician arrived 2 and a half hour later than the slot I had paid for. I phoned customer service and they as well could not provide an ETA and asked to wait for the mobile engineer to phone as they were running behind the schedule. However I was offered my slot booking amount to be refunded.

Mobile Expert tyre fitting, order A976B068505, July 2026. I am leaving this review so others know what to expect. Every fact below is documented with chat transcripts, video, and emails.

The advertised 25% multi-tyre discount (code FLASHSALE) was not applied to my order of 4 tyres. Halfords' own chat agent verified on 13 July that the discount was missing and raised a case. In the same chat she told me my order was showing as "failed" in their system.
I paid £24 extra for a specific time slot on 14 July. No fitter attended. The appointment was rescheduled to 16 July without my agreement.
On 16 July the fitter fitted only 1 of 4 tyres, told me my wheel nuts were "stripped/damaged", said I had to get them replaced at a garage, and left the job unfinished. I drove to an independent garage (Thamesview Tyres Ltd) the same day. They removed the same wheel nuts without any difficulty and confirmed they were in good condition and needed no replacement — I have this on video. The garage also found two wheel nuts damaged during the fitting attempt, and the one wheel that had been fitted was not balanced.
I registered a formal complaint via chat on 16 July (case 01098994) with a promised response in 7 working days. Nothing came. When I chased on 28 July, Halfords admitted in writing that my case had been escalated to the wrong department and had only been reallocated the day before.
A refund of £583.88 was eventually issued and the fitted tyre taken back — I acknowledge that. But the final response I then received claims the fitter "could not remove" my swollen wheel nuts and "did not want to cause any damage". This does not match reality: he did remove nuts and fitted a wheel, and an independent garage freely unscrewed all the nuts on video hours later. The response also denies damage to "locking wheel nuts" — which I never mentioned; my complaint was about two standard nuts.
Throughout the process I had to repeatedly resist being redirected to a phone line, despite a written-communication-only reasonable adjustment (I have ADHD and autism) being recorded on my case.

The outcome: I got my money back, but only after a month of chasing, three chat sessions, a wasted garage trip caused by a wrong diagnosis, and a final response that is contradicted by video evidence. I had the same 4 tyres fitted by the independent garage the same day for £320 — £260 less than Halfords charged, done properly, first time.

Had all four tyres changed, fitter forgot to put all my wheel nut covers back on, every single one missing, customer service just dismissed me, they said they couldn't prove it was him??? Fitter must have seen all 16 of these shiny glossy things in his van but doesn't say anything, could have posted them back to me, such a small thing to replace by Halfords but no, rather lose customers

The worst customer service I've ever experienced. Cost me over 300 pounds to rectify a problem they caused. The customer service response was shocking and just blame passing.

Appalling service. Booked and paid in full for 4 new tyres to be fitted at my home in Kent.

Confirmation email confirmed payment received and appointment would be between 10 -12. No one turned up.

Phoned and was told running 20 minutes late. Still no one turned up.

Phoned again and was told they hadn't sourced the tyres! Customer service advisor’s English was not good. Eventually understood it would have to be rebooked later in the week. I want a full repayment I said, that will take 5 days I was told. Would not recommend. Why do-they employ people who struggle with English?

I booked Halfords Mobile Tyre Fitting, but the fitter claimed that my locking wheel nut key was worn and refused to carry out the work. He also told me that Halfords would charge me for an aborted visit and advised me to take the vehicle to a garage to have the locking wheel nuts removed. The key looked perfectly serviceable to me, so after he left I tried it myself using a standard wheel wrench. All four locking wheel nuts came off immediately, without any difficulty whatsoever.
This left me with the strong impression that the fitter simply wanted to abandon the appointment and move on, while leaving me facing an unnecessary charge and the inconvenience of visiting a garage. I eventually managed to obtain a full refund, but the experience was extremely disappointing. Customers should be cautious if they are told that their locking wheel nut key is unusable without the fitter making a reasonable attempt to use it.

Absolutely dreadful, I booked for a puncture repair but they have zero intention of fixing a puncture, the minute the fitter arrived he said I needed a new tyre due to cracking and perished, the tyre is absolutely fine - its only a year old since it was last replaced! and I have an 18mth old car! ( I did not ask them to bring a tyre like they tried to sell me - I told the booking rep that all I wanted was a repair) but funnily enough they had a tyre on their van for my particular car!! how convenient!
All they do is try to upsell your booking and try to scare you into buying a replacement tyre instead of doing the job you asked them to do!! this is obviously a remit from the managers at Halfords that insist that the poor fitters tell lies to the customers. got on his phone to his supervisor when I told him I didn't want a new tyre and that I just wanted him to do the job. Then he came back and told me that the tyre will blow out if I don't get it replaced, the tyre was new only a year ago!! a simple puncture and he refused to do it, saying he would 'call his supervisor again', supervisor obviously said just leave it because there was no sale to be had with me! so he left without even trying to fix the puncture.
The only saving grace was that he said I could have a refund which his supervisor would organise, however I am yet to see that refund. I called the customer service team who said that I would still have to pay a call out, no chance will this happen! I wouldn't mind if it was genuine but it absolutely wasn't and I have it all on my cctv. By the way, I got a second opinion of my tyre from a local garage and its fine!!! they fixed the puncture. I feel sorry for the fitters that work for these fraudsters, must be awful for them. Refund required please Halfords!

Avoid at any cost

Stay away from this company there just cowboys they fitted 4 year old tyres on my car, then tell me its ok as there within there rights to fit up to 5 year old tyres on customers cars so that takes 7 years life span for a life of a tyre that only has a life span of 10 years be aware there fitting nearly out of date tyres they prob buy alot cheaper and charging the customer full price for the privilege. Also there customer service and complaints, well your wasting your time with them to as they are just as bad just be aware STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, IT COULD COST YOU YOUR LIFE.

Easy to book and good choice of dashcams. Had installation done at home, and Ali called ahead and did a professional job explaining and fitting the device. Only improvement I would suggest is an earlier, clearer indication of appointment time.

Nothing else to say other than avoid this place at all cost and if you still go there, buy nothing without researching the prices elsewhere, even from their own website! And ask for before and after photos of everything

Easy online booking process, good communications up to the time of the appointment. Reasonable cost and the mobile fitter was professional, efficient and a credit to your company.

Dash cam install. Lazy install as rear cam has nearly a foot of cable hanging down when tailgate is shut. This is because they didn't route it through the tailgate, preferring to take out of the rear roof lining. Looks a mess and all you can see in he rear view mirror. Also used grey adhesive pads rather than black so looks an eyesore. Disappointed is an understatement. Don't use to install.

Easy to book (and to rearrange, though it did require 3 separate phonecalls to their support line to do so) and the person who came to instal a new car battery at my home on 7th July was wonderful - they were very diligent and completed the whole thing in under 15 minutes, making sure the job was done properly & my car had no warning lights or issues with the new battery before leaving. All in all, it was very easy & well done!

I booked the service on the 05th of July and received a confirmation. Three day later, Prakash, the tyre fitter, gave me a call to let me know at what time he would be with me, arrived on time and fitted four tyres for me and he explained to me what he did.

One of the worst customer experiences I have ever had.
I purchased car tyres through Halfords' website. I had actually found the same tyres cheaper on Blackcircles, but I decided to pay extra because Halfords offered mobile fitting. That turned out to be a huge mistake.
A friend warned me beforehand that they often fail to turn up for Sunday appointments and that the excuse is always, "The mechanic has called in sick." I thought surely that couldn't be true.
It was.
The first red flag was a text message claiming they had tried to contact me but that I was unavailable. That was completely untrue. I called them immediately, navigated through an endless maze of automated options, only to be told that the mechanic had "called in sick."
What a surprise.
I asked the operator how I could make a formal complaint. She told me they would send me an email explaining the situation. That email never arrived.
This is a completely unacceptable and deeply frustrating experience. I have wasted two days waiting around, and now I have to take time off work and leave my car unused for several more days because of their failure to deliver the service I paid for.

The whole experience feels misleading, disorganised, and completely disrespectful of customers' time. If you can't provide the service you advertise, don't take people's money and leave them stranded.
Without question, this is one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had.
I will never buy anything from Halfords again—not even a single bolt.
