Spending the summer at Gotoco was invaluable for the opportunities it provided in securing a TEFL certificate, showing how to organise and plan classes for teaching English as a foreign language, and independent travel. I appreciate the passionate efforts of our trainers and their candid feedback.

I went on the gotoco thailand programme this summer and I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
It was an amazing way to see areas of Thailand that I would have never gone to before. It was challenging at times to communicate with the locals and some of the teachers due to the language barrier but this made the experience even more memorable. I was placed in ubon ratchathani a little province near the border of laos which was the perfect amount of rural and urban. Some of the highlights of the trip was our weekend excursions to the nearby national parks some of these with the teachers from our school. I loved watching the bonds between myself and the children grow over the weeks and how I became more confident with them just like they did with me. It was a once in a lifetime experience which I will remember for many years to come.

By travelling and teaching with Gotoco, I experienced an amazing cultural exchange programme which i’ll never forget.

It was an unforgettable experience I think everyone should try! I made great friends along the way both in Italy training and my host families. Please give it a try and don’t be afraid because the friends you make will give you great support.

What were some of the most enjoyable moments of your trip? Learning Muay Thai was a highlight—it’s such a key part of Thai culture. Another was making friends with locals, which gave me a deeper understanding of daily life there beyond just hanging out.

What was the best part of your experience? Speaking in front of classrooms was nerve-wracking, but each time I felt my confidence grow. It helped me find my voice and showed me I could handle any situation. The experience also made me more independent, from navigating a new country to managing my routine on my own.

Would you recommend this to a friend, and why? Absolutely. It’s a great way to build character. I learned invaluable skills and lessons and gained experiences most people won’t get. People have even said I seem more confident and charismatic after doing it.

How has this experience benefited you overall? It’s made me more comfortable embracing new experiences. A week after returning from Thailand, I joined the Navy, where punctuality and communication are crucial skills I strengthened during my time abroad.

How would you describe your experience with the program? I loved being in a rural area; it felt like an authentic experience with no tourists. The first week was daunting, but I quickly settled in and enjoyed the rest of the time.

It was a really good experience. I made nee friends and travelled to a country I would have never had the confidence to travel to alone. I loved the teaching and exploring aspect of it!

The people that I met during this programme was absolutely amazing. They were all very friendly which made the camps even more fun than it already was. I never thought I would enjoy teaching English abroad as much as I did with GOTOCO, I will definitely recommend this to my friends.

I did a programme with ECC in August and it was a great way to spend my summer! Gotoco made teaching and travelling really accessible. I especially loved staying with host families and getting close to the other tutors.

Overall, I had a great time with Go To Co on their Thailand programme in August 2024. It was a great way to travel at a low cost whilst also gaining a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The staff are always on hand in the country if you have any issues. In my first week, some quite serious issues occurred (outside the control of Go To Co I would like to point out), however, Go To Co was on hand 24/7 to sort out the issues and quickly rectified them. The staff are lovely, down to earth and are also keen travellers too so they can relate to most things that happen on your travels.

The TEFL qualification is defiently a big plus if you are interested in considering teaching in English in the future.

My trip to Thailand as a participant in the teaching programme was highly beneficial and well-structured. It expertly combined cultural immersion and practical learning, providing a comprehensive understanding of local customs and daily life while promising a smooth journey.

Throughout the week, I was fortunate to teach at a local school, which was an extremely rewarding experience. The pupils, full of enthusiasm and curiosity, gave an infectious energy to the classroom. Their enthusiasm to learn made teaching both entertaining and meaningful. The school's staff were extremely accommodating in easing my transfer into the local schooling system. I found that teaching in Thailand was as much about imparting knowledge as it was about learning from my students' diverse cultural backgrounds. The difficulties I faced only aided my development and made the experience even more rewarding.

Overall, the programme presented invaluable insights and exposure that I would not be able to obtain elsewhere. I strongly suggest it to anyone looking for a unique combination of teaching and travel—the opportunities that came by were truly life-changing, especially since I was on a rural programme, I got to experience how people live with so little yet so much!!

Overall was a great experience, we did get to travel around quite a bit and got a true feel for Vietnamese culture. However, we did have a few issues with our first host and then moved schools after a month. The Gotoco team were very supportive throughout this though. In my opinion, the rural placements can get quite boring and repetitive, as there is almost nothing to do in the villages; however, I know that some of the other groups did enjoy their time in the villages. Also, in our village placement, we were forced to teach the kids in a very repetitive and boring manner (such as making them repeat words for 90 mins straight), other villages may have been different though.

Personally, I would request to have a placement in one of the cities, as then there is a lot more to do as well as convenient transport links to locations throughout the country. My group thoroughly enjoyed our time teaching in Hanoi, where the teaching style was much more effective and focused on teaching students to think and speak rather than to memorise phrases. Had we been there the whole time we would have had no complaints whatsoever.

All in all, it was an amazing experience and definitely a great way to spend a summer, I got to see some of the most beautiful scenery travelling around on the weekends, made some new friends and have got many stories to tell from the whole trip.

Our programme was fully funded, with everything paid for, and I would fully recommend anyone who's got a free summer and is interested in immersing themselves in a foreign country to do it.

Had a great time teaching children English in China. The experience was very wholesome and something I will always remember.

Gotoco offers an incredible opportunity to gain a TEFL qualification and hands-on classroom experience whilst also immersing yourself in a different culture and way of life abroad. I have just finished the 2-month programme in Vietnam and I had an amazing time, I highly recommend it!

This was a really enriching experience where I learnt so much about Thai culture and language. I was able to develop in many ways as a teacher, understanding differently styles and abilities. The children were so loveable and friendly which made this such a heartwarming experience.

Highly recommend Gotoco - it’ll be an once in a lifetime opportunity. I was slightly reluctant to go as I wanted a coporate internship in London, but was so pleased that I did this instead. Not only has it developed the same sorts of skills like leadership, team working, planning and organising, but what joy doing it in a foreign country. There I met new people, new culture, new food, and this all stretched me massively out of my comfort zone. The School was amazing and I loved to hear the stories of the kids about their means and lives. I wish I could have stayed even longer - an experience I will never forget. This was a great opportunity to visit China with support and at a low cost. I had a great 2 months, exploring the culture and meeting amazing people. I really enjoyed the teaching aspect in a relaxed, summer school classroom environment. It is a good way to complete a TEFL qualification for free as well, and have practical teaching experience without having to find a school yourself. The holiday in Yangshuo at the end was also very fun.
However, some of the organisation within the company is not great, and it would be better to receive the TEFL course before going to improve your teaching and have more time to do it. The specific placement was also not organised.

I had an unforgettable time in Thailand volunteering as a kindergarten and primary school teacher. Gotoco supported me every step of the way, from booking my flights to providing a detailed guide on what to pack for the journey. They even arranged transportation to the hotel they booked for us in Bangkok. Before heading to the rural school, my fellow participants and I had a few days to explore Bangkok, staying in clean, safe accommodation with three meals provided each day.

The hosts and teachers at the school were incredibly kind, friendly, and supportive. They helped us with everything, from adjusting to the local food to overcoming homesickness. The entire experience was truly amazing. I got to immerse myself in Thai culture by visiting temples, eating traditional food, connecting with the locals, and exploring breathtaking waterfalls. I even played football with the kids after school and got a tattoo from the school coach, who also happens to be a barber and tattoo artist!

I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. On the last day, I was so emotional, tears were streaming down my face as the principal gave a speech and presented gifts from the teachers and students. My insurance was covered, and after the program ended, I even had the chance to stay for an additional week to do some solo traveling. Gotoco even bought me a SIM card with internet that I used for the entire month.

I'm also thrilled to be earning my TESOL certificate as an English teacher. This experience has taught me resilience, acceptance, truly humbled me and it’s something I will carry with me for the rest of my life
