Easy to use app with good features

Easy of use App and with the right features. My first experience was made great by the car renter, who was available for questions and helpful to help with issues.

Was charged 23£ on the grounds that I…

Was charged 23£ on the grounds that I had not filled up the tank . I actually put more than there was when I took it !! Still waiting on getaround to correct it

The company just doesn’t care

The company just doesn’t care. Some of their users lie, cheat and abuse the system, and they protect them. Clueless and impersonal.

The reply suggesting I “reach out” to them ignores the fact that they have now ignored three emails trying to resolve, and it just proves the point.

Vehicle not safe

We were unable to use the car as we did not feel it was safe. When turning on the engine a warning came up on the dashboard "ENGINE FAILURE" and we decided that it was not worth the risk in the snowy conditions.

Terrible customer service. Holiday ruined

Well it has been 4 days since I raised an issue with Getaround and still no resolution. Holiday ruined.
I booked a car in December and paid for it. A few days before going I checked the app and didn’t realise that going in via apple created a new account. I saw the car rental wasn’t there and had problems verifying my account and as I was going away soon, booked another car. This new rental was cancelled so I messaged Getaround ( no way of calling as no uk tel numbers) to explain this all.
I then got a message explaining I had two accounts hence cancellation of second rental car. Email asked me which account should be deleted which I replied to. I then got a message from another person who said my original rental car was still booked and to make sure I used the correct account.
Very soon after I got a message saying my original rental car was cancelled and to get in touch to find out why. My account is also blocked so I can’t book the car again.
I have since sent loads of messages on every day and got a couple of messages back which haven’t resolved the issue. I think it is because I had two accounts but if that is the case why did Getaround not cancel the second account when I replied a couple of hours after they emailed me days ago? Also why did they confirm my rental despite knowing I had two accounts. ( I eventually did cancel my 2nd account 36 hours later as I realised Getaround hadn’t done this).
Anyway customer service has been terrible. It seems they only work for a couple of hours each day and you’re lucky if you get a response 2 days later. Most of my messages haven’t been answered and if you reply to an email they ignore it so you have to send more messages via the app which means there is no single thread and makes it more confusing. Also seems no coordination to try and resolve issue. Main issue is no uk tel number to resolve during rental period.
I’m travelling to my holiday destination and arrive tonight with no car to get to my destination in the morning. So disappointed and can’t recommend Getaround at all.

A great service, the owner of the splendid 9 seater van kept in close contact once we had landed at the airport and met us without problem. The vehicle was excellent and affordable and the return check in was quick, easy and friendly with good communication. An excellent experience thank you.

Le propriétaire du véhicule me charge…

Le propriétaire du véhicule me charge des frais de nettoyage car j'ai rendu les tapis sales.... Ce qui est vrai. Mais il faut également noté que j'ai récupéré une voiture sale en début de location, ce qui a été signalé (photos à l'appui) dans l'état des lieux initial.

Et pourtant, Getaround m'applique quand même les frais de ménage en disant que je devais rendre la voiture dans l'état initial. Ce qui est pourtant exactement ce que j'ai fais... Bref SAV à revoir.

Mise à jour : après un deuxième email de ma part, Getaround s'est rendu compte qu'ils avaient fait une erreur et m'ont remboursé les frais de ménage.

Nous sommes navrés d'apprendre cette situation.

L’état du véhicule (intérieur, extérieur, propreté) doit systématiquement être reporté à la fois au check-in et au check-out.

Si au début de votre location, vous trouvez que la voiture est sale à cause du locataire précédent, veuillez le signaler pendant l'inspection intérieure depuis l'application. Cela permet d'alerter le propriétaire que la voiture doit être nettoyée.

Après étude de votre dossier, nous vous confirmons qu'un ajustement a été effectué en votre faveur.

Awful Experience

I recently encountered an issue where my account was restricted without any prior notice or explanation. It was only after reaching out that I learned about the restriction being related to accessing my account from my husband's phone. (‘ Account Sharing Apparently) Even though I used my own account login and password. Ok. While I understand the importance of security measures, the lack of communication and abrupt restriction left me feeling upset and disrespected.

To compound the issue, attempts to contact your support team have proven challenging. No response to emails and the absence of a contact number have left me in a state of helplessness. In my interaction with Lloyd, I was informed about the restriction being upheld for security reasons, but the response lacked the clarity and reassurance I was seeking.

Now leaving me without access to a service that I would rely on, I believe there must be a more amicable resolution to address the security concerns without compromising the convenience and accessibility of the service.

Good luck to those who continue using this service. You could be stranded somewhere experiencing technical difficulties with your phone and next you’re blocked for finding other way’s to return the car. Splendid.

Not a great experience

This was the second time I rented with get around. First time was great experience and that what make me rent the second time. This time I had the worst experience ever. First of all, just a month before our arrival we were told that car owner had to change the car, keep in mind we did the reservation about six months in advance. Then it wasn’t for the best, we were given a really old car which was not cleaned and had mud on mats, stains on seats and crumbs. Due to weather we got delayed which I told the owner, my mistake I did not extend our rental. When we arrived at the drop off location it was pouring down and there was no shelter, we had to call a shuttle to pick us up as per owner’s arrangement, so we ended up waiting which pushed us just over three hours delay so owner charged us for four hours which was two third of total rental value of four days. I contacted and contested the charge but I was given a straight reply that charge is correct and they won’t do anything. No consideration to change of car on short notice to a smaller car and dirty and weather. I am left miffed and I don’t think I will be renting again.

As well as being charged a late fee, you may also be charged for the additional rental duration.
