Generators Direct stop hiding behind excuses how do you know that the machine hasn't been serviced also you mentioned about pressing the decompression lever when starting how can you get to this lever without unbolting most of the machine to do a simple start process this is crazy I'm not fit for use if thats the case
bought a Hyundai dhy8000selr-t multi-phase diesel generator in July 21st 2025 it broke down on 4th September 2026 after only 400hrs called these people 3 times promised to come back to me never did called them again today this time spoke to someone in service to be given a load of excuses and really didn't want to help I would avoid at all cost .....

We are disappointed to read this review, as we feel it does not accurately reflect the circumstances of your breakdown or the level of support our team offered you.
While we understand the frustration of a machine breaking down, it is important to clarify a few key details regarding your Hyundai generator:
Warranty Period: As you were aware at the time of purchase in July 2025, this unit comes with a standard 1-year warranty. Because the issue occurred in September 2026, the generator is unfortunately two months outside of its warranty coverage.
Lack of Maintenance: Our service team noted that the generator has run for 400 hours without being serviced. Regular servicing is a strict requirement for keeping heavy-duty diesel machinery in working order.
Incorrect Operation: It also came to light that the decompression lever was not being used to start the generator. Because diesel generators rely heavily on high compression, bypassing this crucial starting procedure puts undue stress on the machine and directly contributes to mechanical failure.
We apologise if there was any delay in our initial communication. However, when you spoke with our service department, our team did not give you "excuses." Rather, we explained the mechanical realities of running an unserviced diesel generator and explained the warranty terms.
Despite the machine being out of warranty and the lack of maintenance, our team was more than happy to help you find a solution and offered to supply you with the necessary spare parts to get your generator running again.
We always strive to provide excellent after-sales support, but we rely on customers to properly maintain their equipment and observe warranty timeframes.
I ordered a Hyundai S2250e Electric start on Sunday it was shipped on the Monday and i received it on the Tuesday , you cannot wish for any better than that.
Just tested it as its a standby for my Dutch Barge if my 10kva main generator goes down and it will charge my batteries perfectly fine to allow my inverter to power eveything i need albeit not the high users like the oven. the added benefit being I work away and my wife can start it without struggling with a pull cord.

They could teach many bigger companies many things about customer service.
Their products are big brand, I bought an Hyundai petrol lawnmower, great price , quick delivery. I ordered the wrong item for me at first, so I phoned the office, they were so helpful, the return and re order was easy and straightforward. I did not have to wait for my refund and best of all it was all conducted by a knowledgeable and helpful human! No lengthy robotic phone calls, No lengthy emails and no being sent from one department to another.
I bought a Senci SC4000-II Petrol Generator from Generators Direct via Abby Access. Generators are sold serviced and repaired in the UK. Staff selling the generators know what they are talking about and advice and service is second to none. I can’t recommend them more highly.
I can't recommend this generator company highly enough! My old generator finally gave up on me, and as someone living off-grid, I rely on a generator for my daily needs. I was in a bit of a panic and needed a replacement urgently.
Thankfully, this company came to the rescue! They had exactly what I needed in stock, and their next-day delivery option was a lifesaver. The ordering process was straightforward, and their customer service team was incredibly helpful and reassuring.

The after sales service provided by James and Samantha in respect to returning a unit back to Bimpson power uk for repair under warranty was very involved to comply with Champion uks requirements ,

The customer service was friendly and very helpful. The delivery was superb. Arrived less than 24 hours after ordering. The delivery driver was mega helpful. Excellent service all around.
Generator delivered to wrong address.
I wanted to return Generator and I was informed that it costs £60 to do.
Company offered exchange, but I wanted a refund, which they are legally bound to do so, minus £60.
I thought about raising a complaint with PayPal and the company sent me their terms and conditions.
The most helpful way of dealing my issue is to highlight via social media.

Dear Shona,
You ordered Clarke PG3800A generator from our website on 12/09/2024 and then contacted us on 13/09/2024 to request a swap as the generator you ordered had no wheels or a handle (the Clarke PG3800A doesn't come with these, as is noted on the website).
We emailed you on 13/09/2024 to advise that we were happy to assist with the return of this unsuitable item and provided you with the return details, including the cost to collect the item as an option, along with a request for more information to assist with the alternative generator.
You then responded to state that you were unhappy with the collection charge of £60.00 (this is how much the courier charges us to collect a 44kg generator and we make no profit on this charge).
We advised that, if you were unhappy with this option of us collecting the item, you were welcome to return this to us for a full credit to be used towards an alternative generator.
You then advised that you raise the matter with PayPal and claimed that our website did not state the high return costs and that no refunds were given.
On these points, due to the wide range of products we sell (ranging from less than 1kg to over 5000kg), it is impossible to cover the full range of costs that the courier would charge to collect any unwanted items. However our website Terms and Conditions clearly state that all cost associated with an unwanted item are to be paid by the customer. It also states that we will refund all customers within 30 days from date of cancellation.
The reason that we sent you these parts of our Terms and Conditions was because you made a false claim to what they stated regarding the "no refunds" part. It must also be noted that, to place an order through our website, you had to tick a box that states "I have read and agree to the website terms and conditions" therefore you would have been fully aware of our Terms prior to purchasing these goods.
You then responded to our email with "Thank you for stating your terms and conditions. You have those; I have Trustpilot, Facebook and twitter."
At this point we advised that we were acting in accordance with The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, which notes that the consumer must bear the direct cost of returning unwanted or unsuitable goods.
In conclusion, we find your claim that our customer service is "non existent" to be entirely without merit, as we have assisted in your request to return an item for an exchange and have acted in accordance with the legal requirements for the return of unwanted or unsuitable goods. You contacted us to request an exchange, not a refund, therefore you have made further false statements in this review also.
We now await your response to confirm that, in accordance with regulations, the goods will be returned to us within 14 days of notification of return in order for us to assist with an exchange or refund, whichever you decide to proceed with.

Purchased a Hyundai pressure washer a couple of years ago from Generators direct which arrived promptly in perfect working order. Unfortunately it’s developed a fault since and I contacted the company for some assistance. Abbey Access (I guess a part of generators direct) then took on my case and have been fantastic in helping me get back up and running. Special shout out to James, Sam and Rhiannon who have worked together to communicate with Hyundai and offered me several options. Great companies who obviously care about their customers and offer an exceptional after service. Thank you to all of you.
Generators Direct are a great company to deal with. They are friendly, professional, trustworthy, and couldn't do enough for me. They are above and beyond any other generator supplier on the market. They gave me 1000% service. If you are looking for a generator look no further, you won't be disappointed.
Mail order company trading off backorders so be very wary of stock information on the site. Generally evasive and very unhelpful, but seem to be taking full advantage of the demand and shortage of generators in the UK. Seen a lot of these types of businesses pop up to and take orders for stuff they dont have!
Called about a price match for an identical product, had to call 3 times to finally get an answer that they refused to match it because they wouldn't make enough profit on the item. So their "Price Promise - If you discover a product that includes, as standard, features and benefits comparable to those of any Generators-Direct.co.uk products, we promise to match their price." is a complete lie. Don't advertise for a service you're not willing to provide.
Poor back up and delayed deliveries not recommended
