Was supported by Alan who honestly is my hero, he went above and beyond and ensured I was supported after what had been a horrid experience with my car breaking down. No promises were made but they manage to see and fix my vehicle within 2 days. I was blown away.

I recently took my Vauxhall Astra to Evans Halshaw for its second service, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The team not only completed the service efficiently, but they also spotted a faulty shock absorber, which they promptly ordered and booked in for replacement under warranty.

The work was carried out to a very high standard, and the communication throughout was excellent. A special thanks to Lewis Rickard, who went above and beyond, keeping me updated, answering all my questions, and making sure everything was sorted without any hassle.

It’s rare to find a garage that’s this professional, friendly and trustworthy. I’ll definitely be returning for my third service next year. Highly recommended.

I recently purchased a Vauxhall Corsa Ultimate from Evans Halshaw in Gateshead, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what I expected.

First Impressions: Not So Ultimate
When I arrived, the car was visibly dirty. Not just a few smudges—I'm talking about a full layer of grime. For a car that was supposedly prepared and valeted, it felt like a half-hearted effort at best. Even after the “valet,” it was still grimy. Not a great first impression for what’s meant to be a top-spec model.

The Sales Process: 5 Hours of Pressure
I was told the handover process would take around 2–3 hours. It ended up taking 5 hours. Worse than the delay was the extremely hard sell I was subjected to during that time. I was repeatedly told I needed to buy additional insurance and policies — with the implication that if I didn’t, my car could break down the moment I left the forecourt. The pressure was relentless. It stopped being a sales pitch and started to feel like emotional manipulation. By the time I left, I was exhausted and honestly traumatised.

Warranty? Apparently Worthless
At one point, a member of staff even admitted that their own warranty was basically worthless. That left me wondering: if they don't believe in what they’re selling, why should I?

Driving Off: Warning Lights Already?
About 20 minutes after leaving the dealership, a tyre pressure warning light came on. Clearly, they hadn’t even done a basic check before handing the car over. For a dealership selling a supposedly high-standard vehicle, this level of carelessness is not acceptable.

Final Thoughts
Buying a car is supposed to be exciting. Instead, this felt like an endurance test. I left feeling anxious, second-guessing my purchase, and with a warning light on the dash. It’s hard to have confidence in a car — or a dealership — the whole process felt drawn out, pressured, with an unnecessary focus on an extremely pushy sales pitch on all the additional extras.

If you're thinking of buying from Evans Halshaw Gateshead, go in with caution and be ready for a very pushy sales pitch. And maybe bring your own sponge—just in case they "forget" to clean your car properly, too.

Always use Gateshead because you get first class service. Staff are very friendly and look after you. Wouldn't go anywhere else

I used the bodyshop to repair front end of car after an altercation with a carpark bollard. They were professional and very helpful. They did the repair very quickly at a reasonable price.

I recently had the pleasure to visit the dealers looking for a car for my gandaughter.
I had already been to other dealerships but I must say that Evans Halshaw left them all standing, it’s like the old saying “chalk & cheese”
From arriving at the garage and being met by Jacob who was extremely pleasant, and although he hadn’t been in the job long,very efficient.
We were assisted by Chris who dispelled all the old stories of second hand car salesmen. He was absolutely brilliant and nothing was a trouble to him.
I would certainly reccomend the whole experience to anyone in the future.

This review is regarding front of house, Customer Service which was handled very professionally and respectfully by the chap involved.
Booking my EV in was a pleasant and straightforward experience, regarding the issues I am having with the low range that I getting with my Mokka EV.
After leaving my car with them, they provided a similar courtesy car which was very clean and tidy.
Later that day when I collected my car they had also given it a nice thorough clean inside and out.
However, the very low mileage that I am getting out of my Mokka EV wasn't fixed.

Dropped car off and asked if it could be ready for the school run. Car was due a service and it’s first MOT. Called me at 2.30pm to advise my car had passed and it was ready for collection. All clean and vacuumed. They even drove the car round to the door and opened my windows to let some air in.
