Appalling Experience – Avoid Evans Halshaw Gainsborough!
I enquired about a Peugeot 2008 online and received a voicemail the next day from Evans Halshaw Gainsborough, but I didn’t catch the name of the person who called. When I phoned back and explained this, the person asked who called. I said I wasn’t sure, and he replied that he’d find out and pass the message on—then abruptly hung up without giving me a chance to respond.
I tried calling again as I wanted to speak to someone about putting a deposit down to secure the car before viewing it. My calls were ignored—until I put my number on withhold, and it was answered straight away. That alone raised serious concerns about their customer service.
Despite the red flags, I placed a £99 deposit and travelled from Hull with my 18-month-old son to view the vehicle. The car was in terrible condition—dirty inside, scratched on the outside—none of which was shown online. The sales executive, admitted he should have sent me a video, especially since I was travelling so far.
I refused to purchase and was told I’d be refunded. Over 4 weeks passed and still no money. My follow-up calls were ignored (unless made from a withheld number), emails were vague, and requests for a manager to contact me were ignored.
Only after escalating to head office did I receive my refund—within 2 days. The whole experience was deeply frustrating and entirely unprofessional. Avoid this branch.

They let me take my car early due to my work commitments and kept up to date via email with the cars progress . A very clean branch and staff are really welcoming and the mechanic who dealt with my car ( Richard ) was the bees knees !
