If there is the slightest of chances your event will be cancelled, avoid Earcandy. I paid £700 holding fee for my wedding band. Unfortunately due to the Corona Virus I had to cancel my wedding. Ear candy have refused to pay me a single penny of my deposit despite giving them a bloody good reason for cancellation and 6 months notice before the event.

Earcandy have been very helpful in helping us find our wedding band. We’ve really appreciated the personal touch and the honest advice that was given. We can’t wait to have Soul Fresh perform at our wedding next year.

Great experience from start to finish. Loved it.

We hired Earcandy for our May 31st 2020 wedding. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, we had to cancel our special day. Postponement was sadly not possible, as we are from outside the country, as are the majority of our guests. After several emails exchanged, Earcandy refused to give us our booking fee (or a partial amount) back. The fee was 50% of the total cost. Their response to this being an unfair amount to retain, is that they use the payment to pay for their employees. This company only cares about money, not their customers. Even during a global pandemic, they have no sympathy towards a couple who’s special day was cancelled, and who are losing a lot of money simultaneously. A force majeure event means that 'an unforeseeable circumstance prevents someone from fulfilling their contractual obligations.' As the UK are not allowing gatherings, this means Earcandy cannot perform their service on the date, which we signed the contract for. Therefore I would not recommend anyone to use their services. We are currently following up with a lawyer to hopefully resolve this unfair situation.

'You originally made your booking in June 2019, and since then there has been a significant amount of preparation made for the entertainment for your event.'

-Significant amount of preparation? I'm very sorry but we asked a question in an email or two (three months before our wedding) about the mixes the dj could play. We were then told the dj would get in touch and never heard a word from him. I think the word 'significant' is a bit of an overstatement when we hadn't had contact since the original booking thread in June.

'no further payments that would normally be due are due'

-As per your contract, it says if you cancel 56 days before the event, you will not be liable to pay the rest of the hire fee. We cancelled 57 days before- ergo no further payment is due.

'Our statement about the pandemic, and how we are responding to the current situation can be seen at...

-This does not cover our situation, only covering situations in which you do not lose any money in.

'we could look at the possibility of transferring your booking to someone else.

-This option was never given to us to.

'you told us that you didn't want to do any of these things'

-I never said I didn't 'want' ... I said it is not possible. If an option of postponement was possible, this would be a completely different situation. Nobody 'wants' any of this to be happening.

We hired Motown Gold for our wedding party..
All I can say is book them early..what an amazing band.. they were fantastic singers, engaging, fun and authentic..
All our guests were blown away and I had my female friends thanking me because they actually got to dance with their husbands who "don't dance" and they all enjoyed every minute..another hour or so of them would have been amazing as we could have danced and listened to them all night..

They were prompt, courteous and an amazing group. We absolutely loved them and all our guests commented on how fab they were. Thank you so much, we couldn't have asked for anything more from them.

The Somebodys performed brilliantly and the dance floor was always full. What was especially impressive was their flexibility when we were running late - this was totally out of their control but they adapted really well and powered through their set. They were also really good spirited and polite - it made the night fly by! Thanks.

Unfortunately the band were poor and Ear Candy have been very frustrating to deal with. We booked a 10 piece band for our 50th Party, and were left feeling underwhelmed. The male singer was very poor and the whole band just didn’t seem to connect well. We spoke to a number of our party guests who also agreed. The musicians were late, some turning up after our guests had arrived. Our schedule says the band will be set up and sound checked by 7pm. After contacting Ear Candy, apparently, they were not late. But I’m not sure how you can be sound checked without the band even being there!
I was offered a small refund but this never happened. Every time I contact Ear Candy they say they are waiting for the band manager to reply. This party was 3 months ago now!
I wouldn’t say avoid Ear Candy, but just make sure you check everything through with them before booking.

Ear candy & Motown gold were amazing. We hired the incredibly talented Mo-town gold and they were sensational!! The musicians and singers were so so fantastic. I can not recommend them enough. They made our wedding day! Everyone is commented saying how fantastic they were and our friends who are getting married next year are now hiring them for their wedding. Could not be happier. They had everyone on their feet dancing all night and were so friendly and polite and just all round fab! Our wedding was held at Slaugham place in the middle of no where and we had no WiFi or 3G signal and we were worried our suppliers might not find it, but they were early and completely hassle free. Hire them, you won’t regret it! The ear candy team were so easy to work with and they made planning and booking the band a dream.

Really slick operation that took all the stress out of booking a band for our wedding. We booked the Somebodys, who sounded fantastic and gave a wonderful performance. They also adapted brilliantly on the night when we were running late - they would have been well within their rights to be tricky about it but gave a superb performance and powered through their set.

We were delighted with the performance from the Earcandy strings at our wedding.The four ladies performed for 3 hours and were professional, serious musicians, who played everything we asked for and more. They were unobtrusive and absolutely perfect for our occasion, which was an intimate, classy wedding. They arrived on time and left discreetly. Thoroughly recommend them.

The Somebody’s were incredible! They performed at our wedding and had guests dancing for hours! We found them to be polite, professional and friendly...we didn’t want their set to end! Highly recommend.

Earcandy were great start to finish. Our DJ went above and beyond on our wedding day. Personable and easy to manage logistics with. Shared some views and experience when necessary.

It was very good but some of the songs we didn't want playing were played, and some we wanted playing weren't..

The band was brilliant even with a difficult venue like Bath Pump rooms who would not allow them to go above a certain decibel, I know this meant the band could not perform as they would normally have liked too but they were still faultless and everyone enjoyed the music immensely, we would certainly book them again.
