Scammers, avoid this company at all costs!

This company is an absolute disgrace and a complete scam. If you’re wondering why their prices are so cheap, it’s because they will rip you off the moment you collect and return the vehicle.

I was forced into buying a £180 insurance policy because they claimed my existing policy wasn’t good enough, even though it covered the car up to £50,000. Their rep, Gary, insisted that their policy required coverage up to £70,000, which is ridiculous since the car wasn’t even worth that much. Despite explaining this, he refused to let me hire the car unless I paid extra. It was clear he was taking advantage of tourists.

Then, when returning the car, the worker took the key from us and then blatantly lied, pretending he never had it. We wasted 20 minutes searching the car and our suitcases, only to find out he had it all along. After already being scammed, this felt like yet another attempt to con us into paying for a new key.

I have tried to raise a dispute with Drivalia, but they have ignored me for weeks. Their customer service is non-existent, and they clearly have no interest in resolving complaints.

This company is an absolute disgrace. Do yourself a favour and rent from a reputable company instead.

And no, I will not be replying to the customer service portal to help you locate the booking as I’ve been completely ignored on the portal.

I arrived to the Glasgow city site, which is pretty much waste land. Stood in the hut for 10 minutes before trying to find someone. Once I tracked someone down I was informed that the car type I had booked wasn't available. For clarity I had booked through a broker, but am aware that the individual sites are responsible for updating availability of stock. I was then offered a down grade if I wanted to go ahead. So as we progressed it became clear that if you don't have a debit card with your full name on it. To be clear that means Adam Ant not Mr A Ant it problematic to carry on your booking. However if you want to pay for additional insurance with any card this "problem" disappears uncanny that. I decided not to go ahead with the booking as the car type I had booked wasn't available but still haven't received a refund despite this breaking the consumer rights act of 2015. So in short keep on walking, that's what I had to do...

Provided a Luton van which had an issue with it's diesel particulate filter and a slow puncture in the rear left wheel. The van entered crawl-home mode at the start of a 300+ mile journey and wouldn't go above 30mph flat out. Since they didn't have any other Luton or similar sized van availability I had no choice but to have the vehicle recovered almost 100 miles away where I had to use a different van hire company to get a vehicle big enough.

These things happen, so I can't fault them for this, but what I can fault them for is the service during the problem and after it. Before, Drivalia's solutions were to let the recovery company deal with the issue. We were left stranded in a service station waiting on a call back from the recovery company and Drivalia could not offer me any information on what alternative vehicles they had on offer.

Additionally, following the situation, I called afterwards to let them know the situation and was told to await a call back. It has now been 3 months and no callback has been received. Thinking I may have just been forgotten about, I emailed them at the end of September and have still not received a response.

I was never reimbursed for the days of the van hire I didn't use, the hotel I had to stay in (again, with my partner and our child) to get the replacement nor the replacement which I had to source outside of Drivalia. I haven't even had an apologetic call.

I was originally excited to use a lesser-known rental company to give them a chance but this experience has soured that entirely.

EDIT: Following the company's reply I've just been told to go to manage booking and contact them. I've already tried going through here but my reservation number is not accepted. When I informed them of this issue, they told me to email uk.claims address- to which I received no response.

Had to hire van/car when my own car was in garage.

Hired a van 2 weeks ago and the state of the van was absolutely disgusting. Paint all over the front seats, crisp packet galore in every pocket, no wind screen wash, had to blow up one of their tyres, the van itself smelled of mould. Complained with "we will feed this back to our team.

Hired a car 1 week ago, paid for a VW Polo but they do not have any at the lot so was given a MG3, a very basic model and not of value of mode of a VW Polo. It was false advertisement at a minimum and reported to ASA.
Car was not clean inside or outside, vape packets found, no wind screen wash, had to blow up two types and the list goes on.
Wrote to them and got the usual we will feed this back to the team.
They may be the cheapest but also expect the lowest level of service, cars, customer service.

My review clearly states I wrote to them and what their response was. They have replied to this review with a standard response of to contact them to let them investigate... which is what I did in the first place. jesus, says it all doesn't it?

Gary is the best and most helpful staff member!! He picked us up from the airport and also called us a cab so we could go back to our hotel and grab something we forgot.

Customer Service second to none.
I regularly travel from Spain to Glasgow and have used Drivalia on a number of occasions. The cars are good quality and Peter and his team always make the process smooth and stress free. A big shout out to Amir. His Customer service skills are excellent and he always goes above and beyond expectations to make sure the process is smooth as possible

Amir was incredible checking me back in. Super understanding when I brought the car back after the branch had closed.

Flight was due to land at 9.05pm and landed at 9.48pm by the time I got my luggage and called it was 10.04pm and they had shut therefore I had to pay for an Uber and back in the morning to pick up the car. Should’ve paid a bit more for a company that would’ve waited 5 minutes to give me my car

Hired car from here only to go pick it up & be told had to pay extra £180 on top of the price for hire car & told it was a deposit then waiting to get deposit back for 3 weeks then to be told it was a 1 off payment for something which I was not told about to start with & I have paperwork here clearly showing it was a deposit. Have complained about it but branch manager says believes his staff & won't be getting it back total rip off DO NOT GO NEAR HERE .....

Great variety in cars, with excellent customer service during pick up and drop off. Had no issues with vehicle during hire. The prices are very competitive compared to other hire companies. Will be using them again.

We paid for insurance up front then charged again. Booking was drop off Glasgow station. Turned out to be way out in other side of river
