Our experience with Drivalia at the Glasgow Airport was the worst I've had with any car rental company in my 25 years of renting vehicles.

We selected 12pm arrival for (2) 9 passenger vans. After a delayed flight, long customs line, and filling out a form for a missed bag, we emerged from the airport exit at 2.30pm (14.30). We called Drivalia to come pick us up as they are off-site. They informed us that because we did not arrive by 1pm, not only did they give our two vans away, but our booking is non-refundable under their policy! No vans, no refund, and definitely no help in finding an alternative solution.

Do not rent here no matter what. No matter how good the price. No matter how pretty the picture of the vehicle is online. Total scam.

All conditions were met, but the car was never provided. They said that I did not pass the credit check. But in the Experian report, no records about the credit check that day. My rating is 969/999 (Excellent)! Ref. GB206872330
Both EasyCar and Drivalia flatly refused to refund the money, without providing any adequate arguments.
Never use these services, all this is very similar to ordinary fraud.
Where law enforcement agencies are looking is unknown.

Was very happy with service and the car but I was told i would get my insurance deposit back in 5 to 7 days
now i am told i am not getting a refund with the package i took 🤬
Update - Had a response so rude h basically said i was stupid and should have read the T & C's

I have used Drivalia twice this year and on a previous occasion. Twice in Manchester which was an excellent experience. Once in Glasgow and had a very poor experience which was partly my own fault but felt that the agent did not give me fair hearing which did make me feel very disappointed. I was made to pay extra money for which I later lodged an appeal. The Manager refused my appeal but I insisted on taking the matter to a higher level. Drivalia have upheld my appeal and issued a refund for the amount charged for which I would like to express my appreciation. I will certainly use Drivalia again.

Great experience from start to finish!
Pick-up was quick and hassle-free, and the car we received was brand new, spotless, and exactly what we needed. The price was very reasonable, and the staff were friendly, professional, and efficient. Would definitely use this company again and highly recommend them!

Car was faulty, it needed wheel alignment and the steering wheel was out of sync. It was unsafe to drive. When contacted the Drivalia office we were advised on 3 separate occasions to take it to a local garage and bring the receipt on return to get a refund. However, when we returned the car at Glasgow airport the agent told us he was not aware of the issue and that he was not in a position to approve of the expenses. He advised us to submit a form but made it sound doubtable we will get a refund. When we expressed our justified frustration he threatened us we wont be offered a lift to the airport. At no point we were offered an apology or an expression of regret for the faulty car. Very negative experience.

I was a bit dubious about Drivalia at first. This was not because of them, but I had never heard of them before, and the last time I rented a car in Scotland, visiting family, and not with them, it was a drama. I had missed closing time by 4 minutes, and when I called the next day, 2 minutes after they opened, they didn't give me a car, but kept 2 weeks rental money. Again, to be clear, this was not with Drivalia. But it definitely made me very wary of renting a car again. However, when I contacted Drivalia I was pleasantly surprised by the very quick responses every time from Jay Patel. I reserved a car and was asked to leave a review. I said I would but only afterwards,being still a bit suspicious. It is afterwards and Drivalia has restored my faith. When we arrived in Glasgow and called, we were picked up in 10 minutes, were given a brand new car and sent on our way. We made sure the car was left spotless and within 20 minutes we were back on our way to the airport. The driver both ways was very friendly. The guy doing the paperwork could have been a bit more helpful as I was still waiting to hear all was well, and maybe receive paperwork, while he had moved on to other jobs. But he was efficient at least. I will be going back to Drivalia for our next visit home. And Jay Patel. You were very helpful and deserve a 5 star too.

Booked a hire car with Drivalia Glasgow in February. Appalling experience - DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. When we arrived, they told us they did not have a car available in the category we had booked because they had allowed other people to extend their bookings. They offered us a 9 seater minibus instead which was not suitable as it would not have accessed where we were going down small lanes. Staff were rude and unhelpful and refused to consider other solutions. They finally agreed to cancel the booking and refund. Head office told us it would take 28 days to refund. Despite contact with them, we have still not received a refund and are pursuing it through our credit card company. Whilst we were there, this happened to 3 other people. When we picked up a car from another company, we were told that this happens all the time. We have reported them to trading standards as you could still book a car with them that day even though there wasn’t one available. This appears to be their standard approach.

Just back from a few days in the Scottish Highlands. I am not one to write reviews but I feel it necessary in this case. From collection to return the car rental experience was professional, pleasant and highly efficient. Special mention to Harry who I dealt with on both occasions. As a first time user of Drivalia I couldn't recommend them highly enough

A fairly awful experience.

With too many pick up passengers to collect at the airport, part of my party were left behind with a promise the driver would come back for then immediately. Whilst I was dealing with the car pick up, their driver didn't bother to go back. When challenged, they became stroppy and only grudgingly made the collection.

It then became obvious something was amiss when I was asked to sign the car defect report without seeing the car based on their photos. Then they challenged the additional defects I found.

Annoyingly I missed one - but "amazingly" they went straight to it when the car was returned - a tiny chip on the windscreen for which they demanded £142. However they claimed they are unable to provide subsequent evidence that the repair will be carried out that you have been charged for

The customer prior to me on drop off, who we knew, was similarly caught out by "small print" - they were never told you couldn't go across to the islands by ferry with the car and received a £60 surcharge. One suspects this happens often.

In both cases, this was NOT a low cost rental.

Personally I shall definitely avoid using ever again.

I went to rent a vehicle recently with this company. I turned up with paper licence, passport, proof of address, credit card. I was refused a car as I hadn’t all the necessary documents. I left to go and find my plastic licence. I phoned customer services after that weekend and asked to go back into the contract. They said that would be fine. When I turned up, I had to pay more as the previous booking had been cancelled. I was promised a refund but never got it even after putting a query to a branch manager. They are now no longer replying to me even after saying I’d get a refund in 28 working days.

Worst car hire ever. AVOID at all costs. Picked up car from Glasgow Airport Depot 18/03/25. Car only one available and not Group Booked. Would have refused to take but I would have been Stuck. Car clearly on its last legs. On return guess what charged for additional damage £307.50 for a scratch repair!!!!!!. Better still told £1500.00 block on credit card would take 28days to remove. Cheap yes but Avoid Avoid Avoid

Upon returning our car we were told we had to pay a £60 surcharge for taking the car onto The Isle of Mull. Whilst we were told this is clearly marked in the T&C's we were not informed this is the case when we rented the car. I imagine many people are caught out by this and it just seems like an easy way to make more money.
In addition, we had to purchase a replacement battery for the key fob on the first day of our hire. We were very lucky to find a shop where we could buy one. Surely a spare in the glove box would make sense? There were also a number of warning lights on the dashboard which were constantly illuminated during the hire period.
Also, on picking up the car we needed to prove our address with a utility or bank statement. Very luckily we had one on our phone. We were told yet again this was on the T&C's but we failed to notice it during the booking.
The gentleman behind the desk when we returned the car was not open to constructive feedback about the above. He continually referred to the T&C's!
In summary, I would recommend sticking to the larger hire car companies (Hertz, Avis, Enterprise etc) where you are likely to have a more straight forward experience.

It seems that before I can write a review i first have to select the star rating . Unfortunately I have had to select one star which Drivalia Glasgow (Paisley) certainly do not deserve. On Sunday 23rd March at 17.00 we were left standing on the street in a strange place when Drivalia refused us a car which had been PrePaid . All local Car Hire offices were closed being 5pm on a Sunday and we had to walk 1.5 miles back to the airport to make alternative arrangements. We were not supplied with the car and the agent refused to give us proof or confirmation of the cancellation . Currently we don’t not know where our money paid is. No car. No cancellation. No refund.

There are a significant number of hidden costs with this Company. Extra cost for insurance, extra cost for going to an island. If we'd have known in advance about these extra costs, which worked out costing almost 2 times the cost we thought we were paying for the rental, we would have taken our own car over from Ireland. We regularly visit family in scotland, but won't be using this company again! Read T & C's closely, because this company are just trying to screw you over.

Regrettably I can not give ZERO stars. This company is out purely to take the most they can from clients. Thier association with EasyJet should be looked into as both are seemingly unaware of each others requirments. Thier service is appalling and borders on (well, let's say inappropriate selling practices).

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. DO NOT USE AND IF YOU DO EXPECT TO BE TOTALLY RIPPED OFF.

Read every bit of smallprint as they are out to ensure you haven't.

Late for pick up -delayed by 1.5 hrs due to airline delays - waited another 20mins for shuttle pick up to car venue -despite requesting in airport pick up.
Told over 2hours late so car had been released -told they could upgrade cost £150 over what already paid to Go Rental-
Despite complaining said it was in their T/cs - not seen when booking via Go rental - beware they only give 1 hour grace past scheduled time.
Suspect car given was not an upgrade but the car I booked -certainly same size - drivilia argued not -is upgrade - had an enough defects on it -that could have come from stock car meet. Customer service -shocking -basically take it or leave it .
Worst car hire experience in 15 years - will never use again!!!

We now regularly use Drivalia when renting cars from Glasgow Airport. Prices are much cheaper than the on-site companies, cars are absolutely great as are the staff and the free shuttle bus transfer is hassle free. On our most recent pick-up on Friday 14th February Daniel was tremendous, thank you.

Booked a car from Glasgow airport - really good service at the time of pick up and drop off. Helpful and flexible staff. No problems. Yes - a 10 min shuttle service to the pick up point but it means no additional airport charges. It was quiet so no real waiting time at either end for the shuttle. Have used Drivalia in Italy - but the first time in UK - will use again.
