I was returning a faulty item & the young man on Customer Services was exceptionally helpful & pleasant, (as was the young man at the door recruiting Dobbies card holders!)
When I queried the return, a manager was called to verify my query, & who was also very helpful. It makes the shopping experience much more pleasant when the staff make such an effort- well done you guys!

Staff member polite when i went to the till was in the restaurant staff member was polite aswell coffee could do with being hotter it was luke warm

Dobbies is great! Last month was my birthday and I had a couple of cakes and coffees free from them with my membership. This is aside from the 2 free monthly coffees I receive. The plant selections are also great and there are always new plants in season. My mom and friends enjoy it when we go to Dobbies just to relax, see and buy some plants, and have some coffee and chat. They also have fishes, pets, toys section, and food grocery section, etc.

Helpful staff who know their job...most have been with Dobbies for many years.
Good range of products and services including we'll stocked shop.
Fishkeeper department has everything needed to keep up aquarium needs.

Terrible experience. My friend and I took the kids to the soft play area. Couldn't get any service for coffees/ cake in there for a long while, not surprising when there's barely any staff manning it.
By the time our coffees and cake arrived the one guy manning it said "that's the end of the session" and basically suggested we need to leave and move to the restaurant. Absolutely ridiculous when we've only just been served and have 3 young kids to then uproot and move all our stuff elsewhere i.e. - prams, hot drinks, bags etc.
We pushed back and refused to move, especially given that there were lots of tables available still, and the girls were not using the soft play area now that we finally had our drinks etc. (completely appreciate they have to limit usage numbers on the equipment) but the whole abysmally poor lack of service and wanting to kick us out when we'd only just received our refreshments is bang out of order.
The main restaurant meanwhile had tonnes of staff on whilst the soft play area had no one serving most of the time. Dobbies need to assign more staff to the soft play area to provide a slicker and far quicker service if they really expect people to adhere to their session times. Oh and it's absolutely boiling in there and they need to wipe down the tables between sessions!
Couldn't see a manager to speak to so hopefully they'll see this, but highly doubt they will care anyway. Seems to be a recurring theme at all the Dobbies soft play areas sadly.
Wish there was another soft play in Midlothian to go to as the service here is just terrible and not worth paying for.

The restaurant at Dobbies has gone downhill, cakes and scones seem expensive and their coffee is never hot. I ordered a Cappuccino and it was dreadful, luke warm, no froth and half a cup. My wife is always complaining about her luke warm lattes. There is always a queue, although they have 2 counters they only ever have one open. Come on Dobbies, must do better.

i'm not one for cooked breakfast but i was invited to meet up with a friend and his wife this morning in the restaraunt for a friendly meet.
we were served with bacon which looked like it had been cooked an hour beforehand and kept in the hotplate during that time. i could've carved my name on the table with it but as i was invited i decided not to complain and embarrass my friend who looked embarrassed enough. everything was cold, especially fried egg. what i surmise started out in it's miserable existance as a potato scone soon to degenerate in same hotplate as a cardboard garnish looked up at me with sad eyes as if to apologise. cappaccinos were just as cold and tasteless as the fried tomato. indeed the only thing on my plate that looked edible was the baked beans from a tin. if i were dining alone i would have refused to accept this parody of dogfood.
i must add the waitress was most efficient. i wish i could say the same about the person masquerading as a cook who dished up this culinary confusion. next time i'll suggest a street stall.

Everything about Dobbies is great apart from the service in the cafe, it’s always so slow and you get your hot drinks ages before your food!

I was able to buy what I needed for my garden plus my friend and I had a good breakfast

Despite summer being over still a livelycselection of plants to replace finished plants. Lively bright coloured plants for Autumn

Wanted a steak pie - there were none available in shop. The order had just been delivered & a member of staff went straight away & got us a pie. Great service thankd

Fish and chips not nearly as good as usual. Fish was rather small and thin.

Staff in the garden centre very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Also great food and service in the restaurant

Staff is helpful and friendly.
There're wide varieties of plants to choose.
Shop is bright and clean, feel relaxing and leisure in there.

Staff are very helpful and went out of their way to make our buying experience pleasurable. Could not fault them.

Example. Some of the prices in cafe are extortionate. Tunnock teacakes £1 when they are 18p in supermarkets! Do not deserve custom at these prices.

Clean, good food, polite and helpful staff.

dobbies lasswade has everything you could ask for, staff helpful aswell. also visited the restaurant which has a great choice of food and value for money, highly recommend

I visited Dobbies Edinburgh with my daughter on Saturday and we used the soft play facilities. I was served from Jordy and had great customers service. I highly recommend visiting here as the customer service is great. Jordy was very attentive to us and provided a very relaxed experience. He was very polite and friendly to my child whilst in the soft play.

We visited the restaurant today. A lot of tables covered in dishes, no greeter. Eventually got seated and order taken. They had ran out of brown bread and this was at 11.30 in the morning!
Food was very average. Will think twice about going there for food again. Staff were lovely and helpful though.
