While browsing the outdoor plants we met Kevin, who was full of good advice. He directed us to some bulbs which were amazing value. His experience and friendliness are a great asset to Dobbie's and added value to our visit.

Breakfast with Santa (Dundee).
Extremely disappointed with our event on Saturday. Arrived at 0800 as per the booking instructions. Decorations were lacking, especially where our table was placed around the back, table's not set correctly (no cutlery for me, no mug for my friend and 2 knives for my child), and not even so much as a colouring in sheet for the kids to do while they waited.

Waited 30 minutes to be served a drink, staff seemed unenthusiastic and were slow with the service. Breakfasts' being served in drib's and drab's and by 0915 we still hadn't been served (we had pre-ordered 2 breakfast rolls and 2 kids pancakes with fruit/nutella). To the other guest's who had been served, they were sat twiddling their thumbs while they waited.

We decided that for the money paid and the overall atmosphere so far that we wanted to leave (kid's both aged 2 were hungry and bored with no sign of santa). Advised a member of staff we were leaving and would like a refund. He was very nice and explained that the chef came from montrose and his bus was delayed which was the reason the service was slow. However, at least keep guests updated and served with drinks etc to compensate would have been nice.

Passed onto another member of staff called Vicky who apologised and took my name/number and advised she would discuss a refund with her manager and get back to me. No phone call until I called dobbie's at around 1630 and was told by Vicky she still hadn't yet talked to the manager but would like to offer us a complimentary afternoon tea on Christmas eve . Advised her this was not suitable for us and if anything a gift card would be suitable for another date, but over all would like the refund. Was told I would be contacted sunday or possibly monday.

By monday afternoon still no phone call. Called and spoken directly with manager who stated "Vicky was going to call you later" and that it had gone through customer service and I would be refunded within 3 working days. No apology from him and no mention of the complimentary afternoon tea either.

I feel I shouldn't need to be chasing up my refund and on hindsight this should have been done with immediately, not days later.

Now to late to book santa for the kids anywhere else and we were all left really disappointed, especially after attending the easter event which was brilliant.



Will not be recommending this even to anyone else and certainly wont be booking again.

Went in to buy compost and bought it. No problem. Took a look at the grocery section but it is pricey. Would have to be desperate to fork out for these prices.

Gave lots of ideas for Christmas Presents. I was able to bring my dog with me. Restaurant had lovely fresh cakes, the coffee was lovely and hot, there was even a bowl of water for the dog.

On a recent trip to Dobbies, Monitheith, Dundee, I had cause to speak to Kevin, one of the garden staff members for advice on plants I was purchasing.

He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and in my opinion a great asset to the company.

Was looking for alpines for a front garden Kevin who worked here was brilliant with his knowledge of plants and kept us right.

It is now 15.50 on Friday the 4th of November, and we are back in our car, having spent twenty minutes queueing in Dobbies Dundee restaurant. The queue wasn't that long - but there was just one person serving up the teas and coffees. When our turn eventually came we discovered they were no longer serving hot food, information we really could have used earlier. A sign would have helped. As it is, all the hot food signs say 'served from noon' - until they cannot be bothered, apparently. The assistant seemed surprised that we didn't want anything else. The person at the front door who identified himself as 'customer services' seemed surprised that we didn't enjoy waiting around for nothing. "Oh... mmm... well," he said. That was it. Hopeless.

The restaurant made a mess of our order adding cheese to a toastie when asked not to include it. Having said that the server did go back to the kitchen and organised the correct toastie and was most polite and apologetic.

Cafe understaffed, many dirty tables, no clean tables for 4 people. Choices of soup not available. What’s happened to the great cake display?

The visit to the garden centre was excellent - good choice of products, short queues and available staff. Garden centre 5/5.
However, the cafe was an entirely different matter - no clean knives or teaspoons, all the empty tables were laden with dirty dishes, floor was covered in discarded food, napkins etc (witnessed several near misses with people slipping on food). We were in the cafe for well over an hour and none of this was cleaned up. Cafe1/5.

I find the staff helpful and friendly on each of our visits.

Not enough people on till. Very seldom Gluten Free cakes

I wanted to buy an Autumn feed for my lawn i met a helpful assistant in the garden area who guided me to the shelves of product. he also advised me on how and when I should use the feed on my lawn, he was very helpful,

Fantastic manager and staff at Dundee Dobbies, they are always so helpful and friendly.

Great visit to Dundee Dobbies this morning. Plants are well-stocked and beautifully presented. And then icing on the cake is the help we get from Kevin who should be on university master mind given how much he knows about plants!

Absolutely diabolical!
There was only 1 toilet in the ladies that had toilet paper. All the other cubicles had none and it was the same in the Mens toilets. There was only one soap dispenser with soap in the ladies too.This was early on in the morning so the toilets had obviously not been cleaned that day. Absolutely disgusting 🤮
There was no hot food in the restaurant only toasties. No soup or main meals. Had a very long time to wait for our coffee and toasties.
Asked for the manager to complain about the state of the toilets. Told him but he didn’t seem that bothered.
We went for the 20% off Christmas items. Absolutely Joke! There was hardly anything thing there to look at. Everything was still in boxes.
The lift was out of action to for disabled people and the elderly.
Dobbies in Dundee have really gone down hill for a few years now but that has to be the worst yet. I would not recommend visiting there. If I could have given 0 stars I would have.
