Dear Diareyes
I wanted to share my experience yesterday of a fitting of a black box into my daughter's car, reg ********
It was a rainy day, not ideal I appreciate, however having had many dashcams, trackers, immobilizers installed over many many years, also on rainy days, I have found fitters arrive with the appropriate van awning cover or gazebo to keep themselves dry and to also not damage the inside of the car door trim which will of course be open during fitting.
This doesn't apply to your fitter.
After asking twice to put the car in the garage, and me answering twice, the garage is full of junk, like most people's garages, your fitter decided to get a plastic sheet out to put across the car roof and hang over the door to protect the inside trim of the door, this was only done as I reminded him, he will not be working on the car unless its protected. The sheet looked as good as tracing paper
We have a shared driveway, of which your fitter parked about 25% across my neighbor's drive, I asked him to please move his van next to the car he was working on, plenty of space, which he stated they will have enough room, and carried on, his way of clearly saying no he wasn't going to move.
He was also part in the way for my wife to reverse out of our driveway, of which she needed to during your fitters visit to collect one of our daughters from college. When we asked him to please reverse back, it was clearly not good timing he asked to use our toilet, which of course he could, me thinking a quick wee. What I didn't really plan on was him sitting on the loo for a good 10 minutes having a POO! yes, a poo, whilst my wife was sitting in her car engine running waiting for him to come out, now late to collect our daughter.
Now, whilst I appreciate, we all need to do our ablutions, what I do not appreciate is your fitter having a poo in my toilet, which on my next visit to, was clearly not all flushed away from the brown water and floating poo bits still visible, I will also let you imagine the smell.
Now, after about an hour and half, your fitter announced he was done, and that he couldn't fit the steering wheel cowl back on properly and thought it acceptable to leave a 5mm gap around it. He tried his best to convince me it was already falling off and someone had obviously had it off before. I mentioned the fact we know the history of the car from new, been in the family which we have passed to my daughter as our other car has, and I can assure him the steering wheel cowl has never been taken off, this was unacceptable to leave this car damaged.
He did in fact have another go to fix it, which visually it looks like he has, despite the inner trim of the door now absolutely soaked. For some reason he also wound down a rear window for which the door trim on a back door was soaked, he did dry off what could be.
Eventually the black box was fitted. I use the term "fitted" loosely as I have no faith in the workmanship.
So, the visit from your fitter left us with a lovely rain-stained door trim which will now need an aqua-vac to clean the door cloth and driver's seat. I had a lovely poo-stained toilet with poo floating bits and a smell to make one wonder what he had to eat the night before, kebab is my best guess! A neighbor that couldn't access their drive fully, despite space for him to park his van. A daughter we were late in collecting because your fitter was enjoying the underfloor heating in my downstairs toilet whilst he was having a poo, and the strong chances of the wiring or steering wheel cowl causing me issues later on from poor workmanship. It was a day to remember and one I have not had so much excitement from when a vehicle installation fitter has visited me, you must be very proud of the rigorous training your fitters are put through.
