The choice of places to stay, the beautiful scenery, the adventure outings as well as the commentary about the history and local information made it an overall wonderful experience. The driver (goes by Frank) was knowledgeable and the vehicle was clean and comfortable. Having a smaller group made it interesting to form bonds over the 3 days.

Detour Africa arranged a 12 day accommodated tour of Namibia for me, at a very reasonable price, with a local tour operative.
I found getting detail about the tour a little difficult, and an airport transfer booking got lost in the noise.
However the tour itself was everything I expected and more. The country is stunning with such amazing range.

I booked the 12 day accommodated tour from Vic Falls to Windhoek through detour Africa. All the booking went smoothly, the trip was lovely organized and the atmosphere was perfect. I can surely recommend it fir further travels 👍.

We booked the 3-Days Garden Route Tour with Detour Africa and found ourselves in extremely professional and friendly hands from the very beginning! James not only replied promptly to all our messages but also offered advice and guidance to any concerns and questions arising.
Pick-up and transportation throughout the tour worked perfectly fine - our guide Maudi made it an unique experience for all of us keeping all our individual requests in the back of his head as well as keeping us well entertained on both long and short drives!

Wow- where do I start? Our safari and beach holiday in Kenya organised by Elana Black at Detour Africa, was nothing short or amazing.
From the very first email, Elana just got it. She listened to what we were hoping for and somehow created the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. The safari lodge she chose was incredible - waking up with elephants and giraffe right outside was something we'll never forget. Then after all the excitement heading to the coast for some blissful beach time was exactly what we needed.
Everything ran so smoothly - transfers,guides,accommodation-it was all so effortless, which meant we enjoyed every moment. And it wasn't just well organised, it felt personal, like the trip had been designed for us (because it was!).
Elana was also such a pleasure to deal with- warm,responsive and genuinely excited to make our holiday special. That extra care really shone through the whole experience and the price cheaper than I could find anywhere else.
This was honestly a trip of a lifetime, filled with memories we'll treasure forever. If you are dreaming of Africa, I couldn't recommend Detour and Elana more highly

I had a really good experience with DeTour Africa. I'm Italian and found the agency online after reading a lot of positive reviews, which turned out to be accurate. Elana supported me from the beginning, helping me plan a trip to South Africa for me and my teenage daughter. She was very patient, helped me chose between different tours, and even managed to book us a beautiful lodge in Kruger at the last minute during high-season.

She always replied quickly, even in the evenings or on weekends when I needed to sort out something like an extra transfer.

Payments were straightforward – I paid in euros through their platform, so there were no extra fees or exchange rate issues. Also, the overall cost was noticeably lower than the quotes I received from Italian tour operators.

We used Detour Africa for a Kenyan safari. Elana Black was our travel specialist and she is amazing. She is attentive, thorough and has excellent suggestions. We had to rearrange travel dates and Elana was patient and did everything possible to save us money and avoid cancellation fees. We had a great trip in Kenya. The guides, accommodations, food and wildlife viewing were all top notch. We live in the USA and it can feel overwhelming to book a vacation in Africa but you can just sit back and let Elana handle the details for you.

From the start we were treated with professionalism and friendly prompt customer service at Detour Africa. Our first safari to Krueger park in South Africa and James made it all happen for us. Even on short notice when our connecting flight from London was delayed and we had to find another lodge to compensate for the missed day, he found us a fabulous alternative. Elana is simply the best. She helped us with everything, but I felt that was way more than the travel expert usually does.
We went to South Africa during the winter, went to Kruger and we stayed in Thornhill. We had a marvellous time there!
We came back in June, but I'm already missing the team, the hotel and the safaris at the dawn.

My wife and myself just recently had our honeymoon in South Africa. We contacted Detour Africa and was corresponding with James. James is a very professional travel specialist, where we were updated regularly, answered any questions for us, and went over and above to secure the accommodation choices we had. The Garden Route and Addo Park Safari was amazing, and the tour guide, drivers and guest lodge owners were so friendly and knowledgeable. The Klaserie Drift Luxury Safari was outstanding, the accommodation was beautiful with elephants viewable from our balcony. The game safari driver we were assigned was very safe, knowledgeable, and was able to track every animal in the reserve that we wanted to see. I would highly recommend Detour Africa for anyone that wants a stress free holiday planner that delivers what they promise.

We had a private tour from Livingston to Windhoek, it was a little out of the ordinary and took a little extra time to put together but Elana was great and kept us regularly updated. The driver, Ambition was great and made sure everything worked perfectly. Would thoroughly recommend Detour Africa.

We really enjoyed our 12 Day camping tour through Namibia. Elana organized it all for us and always replied promptly to any queries that we had. Our guide Cheelo and camp assistant Bronhil were great too. If you consider booking this tour, be aware of the distances you will need to travel across some very rough roads. But the scenery out of the window will keep you amazed. Although we did have a vehicle breakdown on the Skeleton Coast (in the middle of nowhere) our guide was immediately in touch with head office and a replacement vehicle was sent to our next campsite, where we managed to reach that evening. The points of interest are wonderful, especially if you are into landscapes or geology, but Etosha in the North had heaps of animals and we saw four of the big five, heaps of zebras, springbok, oryx, wildebeast and many more. Thanks Detour Africa!

Booking with Detour Africa was a delight. Mandy made the process easy, straightforward and answered all my questions with great detail and speed. The trip itself with earthstompers was incredible. 6 days garden route with our amazing tour guide Gareth, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. The locations were beautiful, activities fun and the accommodations were top tier. All in all this was a brilliant first trip as a solo female traveller.

The whole 19 day tour was amazing. the guide, cook Brian was so incredible at his job keeping everyone entertained and feed along the trip. Gift the drive was very safe and very helpful in all areas. The places we visited, and the accommodation was great and often above our expectations. My wife has some issues with food intolerances and all efforts were made for he needs. We also had my wife 60th birthday and Brian bought a cake and made her day so wonderful. we will definitely be doing another trip and hope to have the same staff on board.

We did the Cape Winelands Tour and booking through Detour Africa was a hassle free experience and they corresponded with me quickly and answered all questions that I put to them. The tour operated they used was fantastic and our guide/driver, Bruce, for the day was great - knowledgeable, engaging, ensured that our experience exceeded expectations and he even went beyond expectations when we lost our mobile ohone and he tracked it down and returned it to us the next day. Couldn't have been happier or more relieved.

We had a one day tour to a Pilanesberg National park in South Africa. Out transportation and the tour itself was perfect. We got lucky and encountered quite a lot of animals, some of them up close. The whole family of elephants, boars, giraffes, baboons and even a leopard.
The guides were helpful, the collection from the hotels process was managed well.

Only problem i should mention is the lunch we were served at the park territory. The forms to choose your meal and beverage were handed to us in the bus on our way to the national park and were prepared well before we started the game drive. Upon our arrival to the reserve those forms were sent to the cafe. However when we arrived after the first game drive to the lunch area it turned out that our lunch wasn't prepared yet and awaits our confirmation (that we want exactly what we ordered previously through the forms we were handed out). We were told that we have an hour to eat when we sat at the table. However the first food itself arrived only after an hour and change, due to the queue of orders the cafe were serving. The food itself was ok but this waiting for a food delayed us for the second game drive which we had therefore less time for.
