Have stayed twice and this is going to be the last time. Hawkchurch resort looks ok and is in general a quiet place, but this week must be the annual grass cutting period, you cannot sit outside, due to the noise, the grass cuttings going everywhere, and the lack of wild birds, it is as if they have been told to stay away.
The general condition of the accommodation has also gone downhill. The front door can only be locked from outside, the TV keeps stalling, you have to reset it, the decking area is sagging and the constant bloody grass cutting when people are trying to relax.

Was in lodge 49 in June this year. We were their for our check in at four pm and had to wait till five pm before we could get in.
We booked a travel cot and a high chair which my partner had to go back up and ask for they came after six pm.
The lodge floor was terribly dirty my baby crawled on the floor and his sleep suits were black and it didn't come out in the wash.
The bedroom's were stinking of dog and the couch's. I know it said pet friendly but it I was brought up with dogs and they never smelt like this did.
We had to put a blanket on the couch so our clothes didn't smell of dog.
One roof window opened the other three didn't front desk was told.

5. Chewing gum on the wall
6. Dirty bowls
7. Bird poo/ orange stains / cobwebs all over the decking
8. Table on decking propped up with wood
9. Mouldy shower

Poor customer service - offered refund of £200 within 5 to 7 days of leaving the lodge on 27th May, 3 weeks later still not received refund and have now been told they have withdrawn this offer after emailing Sean back and forth who could not be bothered to come see our lodge after complaining.

STAY HERE IF YOU WANT A DIRTY, SMELLY LODGE. DEFINITELY NOT LUXURY.

We have been delighted with all of our holidays with Darwin Escapes, we have stayed at Mullion Cove, Beach Cove, Talacre and Bath Mill and they have all been 100%. Clean, tidy and luxurious and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone and would be my first choice if doing a lodge holiday again.

Have stayed with Darwin at 5 different sites, they have all been amazing. The Lodges where very clean, comfortable, with all Mod cons, very homely. Would definately recommend Darwin Escapes.

My fiancée and I have been going to the KP club - Pocklington for absolutely years. We loved it. We were looking at the wedding venue there. My family are golfing members. We have recommended ALOT of people! It was Our anniversary yesterday and we booked the Huxtable suite with the 3 course meal & breakfast. I’m pregnant so we wanted it to be quiet and relaxing! We booked a table between 8.30/9pm but when we arrived for our meal we were rudely told the chef had “closed the kitchen” my other half explained we had booked and it was in with the package. We were then told by the supervisor we could choose a main, my other half declined stated we had a 2 course meal booked and paid for and we wanted a refund. We were THEN told to sit down & and it would be delt with. The ambiance was very uncomfortable, the music was turned off. The food was rushed. My cheese and biacuits were served with no crackers. I just have up! The staff were blatantly talking about me and my partner and couldn’t stop staring. We ordered sides and was told it was complimentary but I was charged. We were given a complimentary bottle of wine but I’m heavily pregnant so I was highly offended! They told us to complain to the receptionists the next day, to which we did and the restaurant manager was “away on holiday” so we had to make do with the hotel manager which refunded our meal £50 (£25pp) I was not reimbursed the £20 for the sides like promised so overall my compensation was £30! I didn’t eat my food, I was extremely upset. I felt very emotional and offended with how we were spoke to. We spent a lot of money and could have easily have gone else were and it’s safe to say I am not satisfied with £30 compensation I think it’s a disgrace and I will be taking it further. A special occasion ruined through incompetence!

Breach of Contract
Booked a lodge holiday for August and before we booked they checked to see if this was available and then took a sizeable deposit.
However ten days later my husband was phoned to say that there was a booking system error and that the lodge was no longer available. They then tried to move us to a caravan on the site at supposedly a discount price (although still retaining our original deposit!).
I tried to contact them to discuss this problem by both phone and email but never got the courtesy of a reply.
Over a week later they emailed my husband to ask whether he had made a decision on the caravan as they were getting booked up.
Little sign of any apology and non existant customer service means we would never use this comparably and would not recommend using them.

Believe me I don't want to give one star!! Having just returned from bath mill lodge retreat booked through hoseasons two days earlier than i paid for I am very disappointed. Firstly we arrived and the lodge was not clean, toast crumbs on the side sticky surfaces dusty floors and toenail clippings on the carpet, yes TOENAIL clippings. After complaining the manager sent two cleaners who didn't really do a lot so my partner swept the floor and carpet and washed the surfaces after they left. They did give us a complementary meal which we excepted but this also came with problems like being told they had no steak 10 minutes after we ordered the starter so we decided to leave the main and just have a starter only to be told they did have steak when the brought the starter, miss communication from the kitchen to staff apparently who incidentally spent most the evening on there phones in a back room " hope the manager checks that on his camera" but we made do, the starter was good but steak was tuff but it was complementary so felt we couldn't complain again. The overall experience left a bad taste in the mouth and very poor to say the least, then on making a cup of tea in the morning opening the kettle it's was full of lime scale and a hair inside, deciding enough was enough we wanted to leave I rang hoseasons to tell them my experience an that I expected some compensation for the fact that I was leaving two days earlier i.e. A refund for two nights! who then contacted the park with the reply of they would not reimburse me in anyway which I thought was absolutely disgusting. After the manager told us they never had a complaint before like this I looked at the reviews on line and it seems they have and we definitely weren't the only ones to experience the same low standards. so I think the manager should be more thorough and check on his staff more because he obviously isn't doing his job properly on following up on complaints. It's also advertised as pet friendly but the park is very poorly lit at night and no dog waste bins that I could find, although the reception and restaurant staff were very polite politeness is only part of good service. so it's disappointing but I would recommend you stay away from both bath mill lodge retreat and hoseasons as I shall in the future as they were absolutely no help what so ever, ironic as they were the ones that took my money.

Every break we have had with Darwin Escapes have been excellent, great prices, great accommodation, great locations, great customer service/staff and great times!

We are collecting those little rubber duckies!

VERY VERY POOR customer service
DO NOT BUY holiday homes from Darwin Escapes. (Especially Talacre Beach)
TOTAL MISS SELL miss-sold Fees (you will be told the increase will only be £50 to £100 a year.
First year £150 second year £325, all with less than 3 months’ notice of when your fees are due.
Not sure what figure they will pluck out of the air next year.
Oh yes then they help themselves into your van when you are not there to put in an electric meter and charge you another £150 a year, but they won’t let you know.
Then they take all your privacy away by cutting down all your trees, because someone else is spending more money than you and wants more of your plot.
MISS SOLD & Overpriced Vans & Lodges (When you can no longer afford or are so fed up with the lack of TCF they will offer you less than a quarter of what you paid them for it.
Take a torch at night to walk through the park because your fees don’t cover your safety walking to and from your holiday home (holiday home what a joke, it is so stressful dealing with this company)
The toilets stink.
Good luck using the facilities
